What to do if you lost homework in Sims 4?
There are really only two things you can do if your sim’s homework is lost: you can look for it by checking all the places missing homework usually ends up or you can buy new homework.
If you need more help than that, you’ll find it all in this post!
First, I’ll go over the best places to find lost homework then I’ll show you all the easy ways you buy new homework (university homework included!)
Places to Check for Sims 4 Missing Homework
The most obvious explanation is that it’s somewhere in or around your sim’s home.
Check all around your lot for the lost homework. Child sims love to stop doing their homework and leave it randomly in the middle of the floor!
If your sim was doing homework at a community lot , it’s likely they set it down and it’s somewhere around there.
If your sim tries to leave the community lot without bringing their homework, usually you’ll get a notification that it’s been returned to their inventory when your sim gets back home.
I know I already told you to look around your sim’s lot, but just in case you didn’t already, check any bookshelves around the house . It may have been put away in there.
And lastly, if your sim’s homework isn’t in their inventory, maybe it’s in someone else’s.
View the inventory of all the sims in your household to check that the lost homework wasn’t stolen!
How to Buy Homework in Sims 4
If you can’t find your sim’s homework notebook, there are 4 ways to buy new homework in Sims 4: bookshelf, computer, university kiosk, or build mode by unlocking hidden objects .
I’ll take you through how to buy new homework using each of these methods.
And in case you were worried, it doesn’t affect your sim’s homework completion level if they lose it and have to buy new. Your sim’s homework will still be listed as complete if they had completed it before it went missing!
To buy homework using a bookshelf, click ‘ purchase books ‘ and then select ‘ homework books ‘ from the drop-down categories.
This will allow you to buy all the possible homework types in Sims 4 including:
- grade school homework
- homework (high school)
- university homework
- soccer team playbook
- teacher’s padfolio of student homework
Prices vary, but high school, university, and grade school homework is 1 simoleon.
Keep in mind that when you buy homework with the bookshelf, the new homework will be on the bookshelf.
After buying, you need to open the bookshelf and place it in your sim’s inventory.
To buy homework in sims 4 using the computer, you’ll follow almost exactly the same steps you did when buying with the bookshelf.
I have a mod in my game that makes the computer setup more organized, so my sim’s computer menu looks different. (You can find it at #32 on my list of must-have sims 4 mods !✨)
But all you have to do is find the ‘ purchase books ‘ option and then select ‘ homework books ‘ from the drop-down categories, just like you did with the bookshelf.
This time, the new homework will be put directly into your sim’s inventory!
If your sim is in college and lost their homework, you can buy new university homework at the kiosk located on campus in either Britechester or Foxbury.
Just find the kiosk and click ‘ buy university items ‘.
Then you’ll want to click on the book icon labeled ‘ academics ‘ to narrow the items down even further.
You can find the university homework by scrolling all the way down. Just buy it and it will appear in your sim’s inventory!
And finally, you can easily buy homework in build mode by unlocking all hidden objects using cheats.

Once unlocked, search for homework in build mode and place it somewhere on your sim’s lot.
Then have your sim put it into their inventory by clicking on the homework or simply dragging it directly into their inventory!

In a previous post, we showed you what you can do to help your Sims complete their homework faster . But I recently came across a different homework-related issue that’s been bugging many users for quite some time.
Many players complained about their Sim’s homework suddenly disappearing from their inventory. Unfortunately, getting it back is not that obvious.
In this guide, we’ll explore why that happens and how you restore your Sim’s homework.
No, we’re not going to play Sherlock Holmes here.
Let’s dive right in!
Why is my Sim’s homework book missing?
Sims often drop their homework books on the floor. They rarely put their homework books in their inventories after doing their homework. As a result, they can’t find their notebooks when they get to class.
The quickest solution to find missing homework books in The Sims 4 is to look around the house or dorm.
If you’re lucky, you’ll quickly come across your Sim’s homework book and put it back in their inventory.
But sometimes, you won’t be able to find it.
Don’t be surprised if non-controlled roommates leave their homework books on the study table in the dorm.
What to do if you lose your homework book in The Sims 4
Buy new homework books.
You can buy grade school and university homework books for $1.
To buy a new homework book in The Sims 4, click on the bookcase or computer, select Order Books , and buy the homework book you want.
If you’re buying a new homework book for a child, have an adult purchase it. Then put the book on a table for the child to pick it up.
If you’re playing The Sims 4 Discover University and your Sim’s homework book is missing, you can buy a new one by clicking on the bookshelf.
If you’re on campus, you can go to the campus kiosk and purchase the homework you need.
Delete or sell your bookcases
Other users suggested that selling or deleting your current bookcases and buying new ones could solve the problem. Sometimes, your bookcases might get glitched.
This often happens when you move a Sim to a new household and bring their furniture and bookcases with them. Replacing the problematic bookcases should fix the problem.
Check other Sims’ inventories
Your Sim’s homework may have accidentally landed in the inventory of another Sim.
Many players confirmed they found their Sim’s homework in someone else’s inventory.

To find your Sim’s homework in Sims 4, click on their inventory. You should find a black-and-white homework book. Click on it to have your Sims complete the assignment.
Do Sims in The Sims 4 University do homework?
Sims attending university in The Sims 4 Discover University do homework regularly as part of their class assignments. Lazy Sims that refuse to do their homework will get bad grades and won’t earn a Distinguished Degree .

Sims who are not performing well academically also tend to misplace their homework more than those who don’t. Thankfully, there is a way to find missing homework , and this guide explains how the process works.
How To Find Lost Homework in The Sims 4
A major reason why Sims misplace their homework is that they drop it somewhere instead of placing it in their inventory. Sims can drop their homework to perform other actions. If players suddenly realize that the homework has gone missing, they should have a glance around any nearby areas to see if they can spot it. If it's not on a table or surface of some kind , it could very well be on the floor .
You can also buy new homework if you still can’t find your Sim’s homework by following the steps listed below.
- Select a computer or bookcase .
- Select “ Purchase Books. ”
- Under the “ Show All ” dropdown menu, pick “ Homework Books. ”
- Pick the appropriate option.
The base game has Homework and Grade School Homework, but The Sims 4: Discover University adds University Homework, too. The homework will cost you one Simoleon , regardless of your choice.
After making your purchase, you must still access the bookshelf and place the homework in your Sim's inventory . Once that is taken care of, access your Sim’s inventory and click on their homework so that they can complete it.
Alternative Tips for Finding Homework in The Sims 4
There are a couple of other tips worth considering when attempting to find your Sim’s homework:
- It is possible that your Sim’s homework landed in the inventory of another Sim . To find out if this is the case, you should check the inventory of other Sims in your household.

How to Find Lost Homework in The Sims 4
Let’s picture a situation real quick. Your Sims 4 character is sitting on a couch or bed, working on their homework. They finish the work before running off to do something else. You go to their inventory to do more homework, only to find that it has disappeared! This is a common occurrence that can be detrimental to your success if your student Sim isn’t performing well. If you’re interested in learning more, continue reading to discover how to find your lost homework in The Sims 4.
The most likely reason why your sim lost their homework is that they finished their work and dropped the book somewhere. Instead of placing it inside their inventory, they often drop it onto the floor or a nearby surface and walk away to perform other actions. With this in mind, you can look around your immediate surroundings to see if you can find the homework book on the ground or on a table.

What if you can’t find it, though? Are you doomed never to do your homework again? No! If you misplace your homework book and can’t find it anywhere, you can order a new one from any nearby bookcase or computer. Head into one of these, choose “ Purchase Books “, and pick “ Homework Books ” in the Show All dropdown menu. In the base game, you’ll find a Grade School and regular Homework book, while The Sims 4: Discover University introduces a University Homework book. Each book type costs one Simoleon, making them inexpensive to replace.

How to do your homework in The Sims 4
Graduate with good grades by staying on top of your teen Sim's schoolwork.
Whether your younger Sims are child prodigies or avid ditchers, chances are, you've dealt with quite a few popups encouraging them to do their homework . It's easy to forget about their homework, lose it, or even sell it by accident. Plus it's just time consuming to complete (and uneventful to watch), making it all around difficult to keep Sims' grades up if they have virtually any other responsibilities or hobbies.
Despite being a pain for a lot of busy Sims, homework is crucial to getting your kids good grades and boosting their skills. Or, if your older Sims are in university through the Discover University pack, it's absolutely necessary to avoid getting that terrifying academic probation warning at the end of a term.
Here's everything you'll need to know about doing your homework in The Sims 4, including how to do it at all ages, how to get new homework if you've misplaced it, and how to speed up the process.
To get a child or teen Sim to do their homework, open your Sim's inventory, locate their homework book (it'll be orange if your Sim is a child and blue if they're older) and click the "Do Homework" option. If you're tired of your Sims doing homework in weird places—mine always go straight to their parents' offices—you can also drag their homework from their inventory, place it where you want in the house, and click on it to "Do Homework" there instead.
As your Sims work their way up the educational ladder and become B students, they'll earn the option to do extra credit after their usual homework, which you'll do in the same way as regular homework and will deliver a helpful boost to their school standing.This process is a bit different if your Sim is in University via the Discover University pack. You can still find their homework in their inventory, but just like in real life, any Sim in university will have a much heavier homework load with homework for every class. Depending on the class, they'll also have final exams to study for and term presentations and papers to prepare, so make sure to get a head start!
Besides completing their usual booklets, there are a few extra ways for younger Sims to get their homework done that come with different packs. If you have the My First Pet Stuff pack, your child Sims can complete their homework by interacting with a hamster (or other hamster-esque pet) and clicking "Study Rodent," which is an especially adorable interaction to watch. I'm a big fan of giving all my kids pet rats and hedgehogs so they can get their homework while bonding with their little friends.
If you have the Parenthood pack, every Monday, your grade school and high school aged Sims will come home with school projects. To do these, you'll want to drag them into the world and then interact with them. You'll get to choose between working on them carefully or sloppily, and other Sims can pitch in as well to speed up the process (and even win the project's owner some extra credit).

Where'd your Sim's homework go?
If your Sim is missing their homework book, here are a few things that might have happened to it:
- It might have been stashed in the family inventory in Build Mode
- They left it at an entirely different lot
- You accidentally sold it (for a whopping 1 Simoleon!)
If you can't find your Sim's homework for the night, it likely wasn't a teacher's act of kindness and you'll need to buy them a new booklet. Sims won't get new homework when they head to school again. You can replace missing homework by using any bookshelf and clicking the "Purchase Books" option and selecting homework. If your Sim is in university, you can also buy them a new homework book via the kiosks found around campus.
How to do homework faster in The Sims 4
There are also a few ways you can speed up your Sim's homework times, which is especially useful if you're attempting to raise a well-rounded kid by squeezing in other after school activities. The best way of doing this, though, is simply by doing your homework as often as possible. As your Sims' grades improve, this option will change to "Breeze Through Homework" and eventually "Dominate Homework," allowing them to knock out their homework a lot faster.
Having your Sims' parents help them with their homework is also always a good idea—it'll speed the process up quite a bit and allow your Sims to bond in the process. If you have more kids than older Sims in the household, you can always invite over some adults from the town to help, which is a little weird in practice, but hey! It works.
If you're playing with Discover University, the Study Spot lot trait helps students of all ages do their homework faster and lets them work for longer without getting tired. Giving a lot you're living in this trait is always a good option to save on travel time, but if you'd rather not change your own lot's traits, the library in Britechester comes with this trait and is just a gorgeous spot to study in.
Lastly, having some Simanite (a crystal from the Crystal Creations pack) can help your Sims get homework done faster.

It’s happened to every one of us in the sims. We go to our sims inventor to look for their homework book, only to discover it isn’t there.
If you’re having trouble locating your sims lost homework, don’t worry! This guide will assist you in finding it in no time.

Finding lost homework sims 4.
There are a few different methods to find your sims lost homework which I’ll discuss below.
Check other households member’s inventory
The first place to look is in the inventories of other Sims in the household, sometimes another sim picks it up or a glitch causes it to land in their inventory.
If that’s the case you just need to drag it out of the other sims inventor and back into yours.
Check around your house or community lot.
Have a search around your house as sometimes it can be on a random table or just randomly places someone on the ground in your lot or even have been put back in a bookcase.
Where did your sim last do their homework, were they at a community lot? The game normal notifies you and put it back in your sims inventory if they forgot to pick it up. But the game could have glitched and left it there, so that’s always worth checking.
How do You Buy Homework in the Sims 4?
The Sims 4 doesn’t have a dedicated homework object to buy, however, there are a few ways you can get your hands on some:
1) Use the cheat code: bb.showhiddenobjects and then go into buy mod and do a search and you should be able to buy it for $1
2) If your sims have a bookcase you can buy a new homework book like you would a regular book. ( If you purchase it through the bookcase thought it won’t be added straight to your inventor so will need to open the bookcase and add it to your inventor) .
2) You can also use a computer to purchase a homework book as well, by just clicking purchase books and then selecting homework books.
3) If you have a sim in college, another option for buying homework is to go to the kiosk located on either Foxbury or Britechester. ( All you have to do is click buy university items, academics and then scroll down to homework. Once purchased it will be added straight to your inventor)

The Sims 4: How to do Homework
Homework in The Sims 4 is a necessary evil and a part of everyday life for most people IRL so it makes sense that it would be inside a life simulation game. From the time your sims turn into children until they’ve graduated University they are going to be doing homework and it will take up a significant part of their lives.
There are actually a few hacks you should know to get your sims to have more fun when doing homework, get it done quicker, and just generally finish it in a timely fashion that will make you a better sims player.
How to Do Homework for Children
When a sim’s kid returns from their long day at school they are going to have a little orange book inside of their inventory which is their homework. This should be completed before they attend school again which is usually the next day unless it’s the weekend.
You can get your sims to start doing their homework by clicking on the homework book in their inventory and choosing do homework . Your sims will find the nearest place to sit (even on the ground) to start working on their homework and will work until they are finished unless they are interrupted by low needs or an event trigger like a fire.
Any adult can come over to this sim while they are doing their homework and you can choose help with homework which will get the adult involved and sitting with the child and they will get their homework done much quicker.
There is even a system for sims kids (not teens) where if your kid gets all of the four children skills to level 3 they’ll have the option to breeze through homework instead of do homework and this will get the job done quicker.
Getting these skills all to level 7 will give them the option to dominate homework which will get it done even more quickly. This is a nice hack to really finish it without it being a huge part of their day.
Once a child has finished their homework, if they have a B or higher in school, they actually have the option to do extra credit after they’ve finished their regular homework. This is good for you if you want to get your sims to increase their school performance.
If you ever find your sims without a homework book in their inventory and you have no idea where it could be you can actually purchase these for one simoleon on any book case!
How to Do Homework for Teens
Homework works pretty much the same way for teens except their homework book is a nice blue colour instead of the orange that kids get. To get them to work on their homework you’ll get them to go into their inventory and click on it and choose do homework and they will start working on it.
They too have the option to have an adult sim to help with homework by getting that sim to click on them when they’ve started their homework and getting them to assist to make it go more quickly.
Once a teenager has a B in school they have the option to do extra credit after they’ve finished their regular homework. This will help them increase their school performance and get to an A as soon as possible.
Bonus Tip: Use the earbuds from The Sims 4: Fitness Stuff Pack when doing homework to keep your sims fun need up so they aren’t feeling tense when they’re done working on it.
School Projects
With The Sims 4: Parenthood there’s a pretty decent chance each week that your sims kids will come home with a school project that they can decide to complete for a boost to their grades. If they don’t complete it within a few days they may get a small decrease to their school grades but it’s not substantial.
These projects come home with your sims in their inventory and are rather easy to complete. They have the option to work on it either carefully or sloppily. Choosing sloppily will get the job done quicker, however, you won’t see a huge increase to their grades but you also won’t see a decrease.
The better option is to work carefully so your sims can improve their school grades. While they are working on these projects they’ll actually gain a skill depending on the type of homework they are working on. For sims kids they’ll be skills like mental, creativity, etc. but for teenagers it’ll be more specific like rocket science or painting .
One awesome thing is that you can get other sims to assist in the project up to 3 sims so you can get these projects done extremely quickly and if an adult sim who has a high skill in the project type assists it’ll go so quickly.
Working on these will also increase your sim’s kids’ responsibility character value which is awesome but failing to complete it will negativity impact this.
How to Do Homework in University
With the 2019 addition of The Sims 4: Discover University we have a whole new type of homework for your sims to have to work on. These homework books are going to be a black and white composite notebook that will appear in your sims inventory when they enroll in their first semester of university.
Each time your sim goes to a class they are going to need to do their homework before they attend that class if they want to get a good grade, meaning that if you’re taking multiple classes your sim will be needing to do homework multiple times per week.
To get this University homework done you’ll want to click on the homework book and choose which class’ homework you actually want to work on and get started. You don’t have to do it all in one sitting so you can start and stop as many times as you want.
An awesome detail about University homework is that if your sims have a high level of the research and debate skill they’ll actually breeze through their homework much more quickly. You can also add the study spot lot trait to your sim’s lot to make it easier.

Doing a 4 course in sims 4 is a real tedious chore. It will consume all your sims time and you won’t have time to do anything else. They did this way worse than sims 3 university.
There are a few tricks mind you! First of all you can be at home instead, makes it all much easier and you can(like mentioned above) add the “study spot” trait to your home.
The next trick is using the club! Make sure, if you go to the university, add everyone you see to your club. Focus on getting “Rally the Troops” perk. That will allow you to get back all your energy and other needs quickly whenever you want. There is no cooldown on this. It requires 500 points so it’s not bad at all. Just make sure the gathering is on at all times(which it should be since you most likely won’t be leaving the lot). The homework perk does not work for university.
EA could easily have fixed this by reducing the homework time from 2 hours to 1 hours imo. They made it too much of a chore. It’s a GAME after all.
But that’s the whole challenge bruh

Children – How to Do Homework in The Sims 4
To get your child to do homework, follow these steps:
- Send your child to school.
- When they return home, select the child and check their inventory . There should be an orange book – this is their homework book.
- Click on the book and select Do homework . The child will sit down and begin completing the task.
- If needed, an adult Sim can assist with their child’s homework, which will speed the process up.
Make sure your character completes their homework before the next school day for optimum performance at school.
Teens – How to Do Homework in The Sims 4
If you’re struggling to get your teen Sim to do homework in The Sims 4, follow these steps:
- Send your teen to school.
- When they return home, check their inventory . Your teenage Sims should have a blue book, which is their homework book.
- Complete steps 3 and 4 as above.
Getting a teen Sim to do homework is largely the same as having a child Sim complete it. The only difference is that a teen Sim’s homework book will be blue, not orange.
University Student – How to Do Homework in The Sims 4
If you have the Discover University expansion pack installed, here’s how you can get your Sim to do their homework:
- Have your Sim go to class.
- When they return, open the character’s inventory . There should be a homework book.
- Click on the homework book and choose Do homework . If your Sim takes multiple classes, you’ll have to choose which homework to do.
- Repeat until all homework is done.
Sims who have enrolled at university will have much more homework than other Sims because they will attend multiple classes. It’s a good idea to get each piece of homework done before the next class, as this will lead to bigger XP rewards and better progress at university.
To speed up the time it takes for your character to complete their university homework, try leveling up their Research and Debate skills. This will reduce the time taken to complete homework considerably.

Missing Homework

I'm having a bit of a problem...I brought down a house from the gallery to replace my existing home and now my teens homework is missing. I've checked her inventory and its not there and I've also looked around the house. Has anyone had the same problem or is it just me? (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
Not with homework but I have had a simliar problem with bills. I hope for your sake it's just a bug - I can't think of anyway to fix it off the top of my head (I haven't raised a teen yet). Have you checked the FAMILY inventory as opposed to the Sims inventory? (Enter buy mode and click the last icon, bottom right of the screen?) I hope that works for you!

I haven't done much with younger sims yet, so I'm not 100% sure on how the homework works in TS4, but when sent off to school do they come home with new homework?

Do we know what happens if they fail school? Do they go to Military School like in the previous game? Or does the Social Worker stop by?
I remember in TS3 nothing happened if they were failing. I had a kid that never went to school (due to her storyline, mostly) and she had failing grades all through childhood, and nothing ever happened - grew up to teen like normal and everything. I kind of hope its the same case here ...

It could be that your sim was in the middle of doing homework when you replaced the house. If she put the homework down on a surface it would be lost. I had my teen who constantly had another whim whenever she did homework and she left her homework EVERYWHRE lol At first I couldn't figure out how she could have an extra credit assignment and no homework until I spotted it on an outside patio table. lol

My sims do put their homework down on the table or somewhere like that, and then it's quite difficult to find it I imagine if they left it out on the table, and you then replace their whole house, the book disappears with it. Good to hear you can purchase homework books from the bookshelf, I did not know that

| Did you remove only hacks/mods, or all the items in your Downloads folder? If you only take out mods/hacks, there's a chance you have a mod hidden somewhere. (When testing, keep in any mods marked as critical, and NPC mods to avoid neighborhood corruption - or take a of the neighborhood before you start the testing, so you don't accidentally screw up anything) |

| Are the parents on the lot? There is a bug in sims 2 where kids will reset with no homework if the parent they want to show a report card to is not living on the lot. There is a mod called 'Get parents' (I think it's called) whiches fixes this issue. It might be on Insim. |

| Agree but I do think they are there (the graves). I'm no expert but this must be something else. My experience is that the homework just dissapers if the parents is not there. I had a teenager comming home and as his father was at work and the older, not related females on the lot was not seen as parents the homework was lost. I did not get any object error. I did see the same thing on an other lot under almost the same conditions. No object error there either. |

If your sim is in college and lost their homework, you can buy new university homework at the kiosk located on campus in either Britechester or Foxbury. If you have a bookshelf click on it and order a high school homework book (it is a thick blue book). I believe it is $1 for each copy. I usually order 2-3. After you have purchased it in the bookshelf, move 2 copies into your high schooler's personal inventory, then select it in the inventory and tell him/her to do homework.
