What’s A Schrift? What Is Uryu Ishida’s Schrift’s Abilities & Powers?

Uryu-Ishida-Schrift-Abilities & Powers

The first episode of the second cour of Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War Arc just dropped and man what an episode!!

They added extra scenes in the anime from the novels and it makes me all the more excited for the upcoming episodes. However, we are here today to talk about the question that has been lingering on your mind ever since you watched the episode.

Which is what is a schrift? Did you miss something from the previous cour? What Schrift did Yhwach grant to Uryu and what does it do? What are its powers? Well, don’t worry when I am here.

I will help solve all your doubts at once. So let’s jump right into it!

What Is A Schrift In Bleach? How Do The Quincies Use It As A Weapon?

Before getting into the technical details of Schrift, let me first tell you about the lore of Yhwach in the Bleach universe.

MANGA & NOVEL SPOILERS AHEAD!!

So as y’all know, Yhwach is the son of God in the Bleach universe. If you didn’t that’s your first spoiler so if you are okay with that then continue reading.

So when Yhwach was born, he was born as a child with nothing. He couldn’t use any of his senses, he couldn’t use his body at all as a normal baby would.

However, he still survived and people loved him beyond their own lives.

This was due to the fact that since birth Yhwach had the ability to split his soul and grant the desires of anyone who touched him.

The desires could range from physical or mental powers, growing new limbs, material desires etc.

However, once they died by any means natural or unnatural, the abilities returned to Yhwach and whichever abilities returned, Yhwach could use those abilities as his own.

This ability to give and receive his own soul or granting desires of Yhwach is called the Almighty.

Once Yhwach could do things as any normal person could do several years later, he found the perfect way to pass on his powers. That is to make people drink his blood from wine.

The same ritual which Uryu Ishida went through in the first episode of the second cour of Bleach TYBW.

This ritual of granting abilities is called Bestowing a Schrift and the abilities granted are called SCHRIFTS!

Each schrift granted by Yhwach associates an English Alphabet letter with it. Such as his own Schrift is called “A- The Almighty.”

Similarly, he gave alphabets with schrifts to all the members of sternritters and Schutzstaffel!

I will explain what are sternritters and Schutzstaffel in another article. But to give you a gist, they are members of the Quincy army who are extremely powerful and their abilities are totally absurd.

Their abilities can alter reality, create miracles, grant immortality, and even bring everything that you can imagine to reality.

Practically making them impossible to defeat.

However, there was no one who could be his equal or even reflect his Schrift at all. Until Uryu Ishida came along. Hence, Yhwach granted Uryu the same schrift as him, “A”

This is the reason why Yhwach chose Uryu Ishida as his successor instead of Jugram Haschwalth who has the Schrift “B”. This is also the reason why other Quincy members hate Uryu.

But, what does Uryu Ishida’s “A” Schrift mean? If Yhwach’s Schrift A is The Almighty, what is the full form of Uryu’s A schrift? Let’s find out!

What is Uryu Ishidas’ Schrift? What Are Its Abilities and Powers?

Uryu Ishida Schrift

As we know, Uryu Ishida was granted the Schrift A by Yhwach himself. Which is the same letter as Yhwach.

For Yhwach, the Schrift A stands for The Almighty. An apt name for the kind of ability he has.

Whereas, Uryu’s Schrift A stands for The Anti-thesis.

The Antithesis grants Uryu the ability to reverse and alter events happening between two targeted points.

These two target points can be anything. They can be two other beings, two specific points of time or two states of matter etc etc.

This ability may sound not that great but its applications will leave you baffled.

Think about it, Uryu can change the entirety of things happening between two points of time which are not in his favour. During a battle, he can reverse damage on himself or pass it on to other people.

He can practically keep on refuelling his stamina and power between any two points.

He for himself until now has even avoided certain death.

Remember in the episode, Yhwach talks about Holy Selection or Auschwahlen to Uryu and Uryu talks about his mother dying but he survived?

So this Holy Selection or Auschwahlen is part of Yhwach’s Almighty where he can call back the soul he granted in Schrift to other quincies and use it for his own self, at will.

This goes for by default all the quincies, since all the quincies are born from him. In that also there are certain quincies who are of Royal Blood and those who are of mix or non-royal blood.

The Royal Blood are pure and more powerful quincies whereas the others are not on the level of Royal bloods.

Uryu’s mother was not a royal blood quincy whereas his father is. So when Yhwach performed Auschwahlen when Uryu was a kid, his mother died. However, Uryu despite being a mix blood had the innate special ability. Which is augmented using the Antithesis Schrift granted by Yhwach.

Thus, Uryu was chosen by Yhwach to be his successor and he survived Yhwach’s surekill technique. Also, to add further, normally the quincy whose powers are taken back by Yhwach and he deems their life significant enough to not suck out their life force, they lose their powers and live their lives as normal humans.

Whereas, when Yhwach performed the Auschwahlen that killed Uryu’s mother he had no intent of letting any of the chosen quincies to live. And Uryu survived that.

This makes Uryu extremely special and rare even amongst the immensely bizarre and powerful quincies.

Thus his selection as the successor of Yhwach was apt as his ability is a hax that even someone like Gerrard Valkyrie and Jugram Haschwalth cannot beat.

And all of this is without Uryu even releasing his Vollstandig.

RELATED: What is Quincy Vollstandig And How Does It Work?

Does this mean Uryu is as strong as Yhwach?

Well, first of all please understand that, all abilities that quincies possess are all the abilities of Yhwach himself. Whether he granted them directly or they evolved with time and generations. Even Uryu’s Antithesis!

It is just that this ability is the only one he couldn’t recall back. So if you say that a lake or a river is bigger than an ocean then yeah you are right ( Sarcasm )!

Uryu’s Schrift A stands for Antithesis and is one of the overpowered abilities in the Bleach universe or probably in entire anime-verse itself. However that still doesn’t change the fact that he is a human first and yes Goku can beat him.

However, jokes apart, Uryu if he were to face Ichigo during the invasion arc, he would definitely decimate Ichigo.

And Ichigo’s powers are strong enough that his existence itself could be a threat to human world. So Ichigo getting beaten by Uryu is a testament to his powers.

Although maybe plot armour wouldn’t let Uryu win, by saying let’s say, Ichigo’s hollow powers could somehow not let Uryu win.

Do let me know what you think will happen if Uryu and Ichigo would face against each other in battle in the comments!

10 Things About Bleach That Have Aged Poorly

My hero academia’s most popular hero has been confirmed (and it’s not deku), new isekai anime transforms a tired trope into something much more meaningful.

  • Uryu's new power in Bleach's Thousand-Year Blood War makes him extremely overpowered and a serious threat to the plot.
  • Uryu's "A" Schrift power, Antithesis, allows him to reverse outcomes, making him nearly unbeatable in battle.
  • Uryu's abilities, combined with his Vollstandig and other Quincy powers, make him one of the most formidable characters in Bleach's Soul Society.

Warning: Spoilers for Bleach: The Thousand-Year Blood War Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War 's second part wasted no time getting down to the plot, with its opening scenes promoting Uryu to a position of prominence in the Quincy organization, as well as granting him a new power. It's the nature of this new power, however, that just might make Uryu too overpowered for the plot.

In Thousand-Year Blood War , Quincy leader Yhwach gives his subordinates a special power, known as a "schrift," which each corresponding to a letter of the alphabet. These powers can be quite strong, as seen with Bleach's Stern Ritter Y , who disguised himself as Yhwach and was able to fight at an incredible level while in that state. While most other Stern Ritter and their schrift abilities have yet to be demonstrated on screen, they're all enough to make their wielders a serious threat, and that goes for Uryu, too. There is one noteworthy aspect to Uryu receiving his schrift, though, and that's the fact that Yhwach says it is the same as his own.

Uryu's "A" Schrift Is One Of Bleach 's Strongest Powers

Bleach: Uryu swears allegiance to Yhwach and the Quincy.

Uryu was given the "A" Schrift, which in the manga is said to stand for "Antithesis." The Antithesis ability allows its wielder to take what has happened and reverse the outcome. If Uryu were losing and taking a lot of damage, for example, he could use the Antithesis ability to transfer all the damage he had taken to his opponent, while whatever had been dealt to his opponent would be transferred to him. Uryu isn't just limited to using this on himself, or even just on injuries; any two objects that have interacted are eligible for this reversal.

It's not hard to see how this ability could become story-breaking very soon. In some ways, it's similar to Orihime's ability to "reject" the occurrence of events, but the ability to not only undo, but reflect it back at one's opponent makes it far more powerful. While Uryu has yet to use this ability on screen in the Thousand-Year Blood War anime, his first opportunity to do so will soon arrive, as the Quincy launch their final war on Bleach's Soul Society . While the ability in Uryu's hands is scary enough, the thought that Yhwach has a similar ability makes him go from nearly impossible to completely unbeatable, barring the development of an even more overpowered technique.

How Uryu's Schrift Power Stacks Up Against Ichigo

Bleach TYBW: Uryu prepares to fire.

Of course, fans are very much looking forward to the inevitable moment when Uryu clashes with Ichigo. Antithesis is very powerful, and it's especially useful in the hands of someone as intelligent as Uryu. Ichigo, however, has gotten some major power-ups of his own since they last spoke, reforging his Zanpakuto and undergoing some brutal training in the Soul King's Palace. Ichigo's upgraded Bankai has yet to be used on-screen, so it's impossible to say just how powerful he has become, and whether it will be enough to defeat Uryu. One can't forget, however, that Uryu has access to Vollstandig and other Quincy powers in addition to his schrift, and that combination of powers makes him extremely formidable.

Uryu Gets One Of The Many Broken Powers That Appear In Thousand-Year Blood War

Yhwach animated

As manga readers know, many of the abilities shown by the Sternitters in the Thousand-Year Blood War arc are absolutely broken, or sometimes not explained enough - as is the case with Yhwach's powers that will be showcased later. Uryu has often struggled to keep up with power creep in Bleach , but with this ability at his disposal, that certainly won't be a problem any further. As Yhwach's successor and wielding the Antithesis ability, Uryu has gone from a run-of-the-mill Quincy to one of the Soul Society's greatest threats in all of Bleach .

The Real Reason Why Uryu Betrayed Ichigo in Bleach

Shonen series often focus heavily on one central protagonist while still developing a strong supporting cast..

Bleach TYBW (Credits: Tite Kubo)

Bleach TYBW (Credits: Tite Kubo)

Uryu Ishida’s decision to join Yhwach and the Sternritter organization has left Bleach fans puzzled and concerned. As one of Ichigo Kurosaki’s most powerful comrades, Ishida’s apparent betrayal threatens to turn this trusted ally into a formidable enemy.

However, Ishida’s true motivations likely run deeper than a simple change of allegiance. Throughout the series, he has demonstrated tremendous growth and likability as a character. His strength and capabilities have always rivaled Ichigo’s, forging a connection as both rival and friend.

The central mystery now is whether Ishida intends to support or sabotage Yhwach’s plans. With his promotion to Sternritter, Ishida has gained even greater power. Will he use that strength against Ichigo or the Quincies?

Bleach (2023)

As the arc deals directly with the war between Quincies and Soul Reapers, it revolves around the history and motivations of Ishida himself.

Shonen series often focus heavily on one central protagonist while still developing a strong supporting cast. In Bleach, each narrative arc tends to emphasize the background of one of Ichigo’s comrades.

Bleach (2023)

The Thousand-Year Blood War centers on the Quincy – Ishida’s people. This suggests Ishida may play a pivotal role in the conflict ahead, for better or worse. Only time will tell whether the embattled Substitute Soul Reaper can still count Ishida as a friend rather than a foe.

Uryu Ishida’s Ominous Shift and the Looming Confrontation with Ichigo

Right from the start of this latest Bleach storyline, Uryu Ishida begins behaving in ways that seem out of character and raise questions. Subtle comments from both Orihime and Ichigo himself hint that while the two are allies now, a confrontation may be imminent.

Bleach (2023)

When Orihime remarks that she’s happy Ichigo and Uryu are close friends, it flags that their camaraderie is significant to the overall plot. During battle, Ichigo notes it’s been a while since Uryu shot one of his trademark arrows at him – potentially foreshadowing a future fight.

The biggest red flag comes when Uryu declines to help rescue Dondochakka in Hueco Mundo, coldly stating it is Quincy’s purpose to defeat Hollows. This diverges sharply from his normal willingness to aid Ichigo and his friends against threats.

Bleach (2023)

Between these moments, Bleach makes it clear something suspicious is unfolding with the enigmatic Quincy. His sudden shift toward Quincy’s ideology over his personal relationships hints he may soon turn against former allies.

While his true motives remain hidden, the stage has been set for Uryu to possibly battle his one-time friend Ichigo Kurosaki as the “Thousand Year Blood War” rages on. Whatever happens, his questionable behavior shows their camaraderie standing on unstable ground.

Ishida’s Drastic Change from Ally to Adversary

Ishida’s refusal to help Dondochakka comes as a surprise given his past willingness to work alongside Hollows and intervene against injustice.

Bleach (2023)

He had previously fought alongside Pesche, Dondochakka, and Nel to rescue Orihime in Hueco Mundo, showing no discrimination over allies from enemy races. And despite his hatred of Soul Reapers, he still showed concern for Nemu being mistreated by Mayuri.

This contrasts his sudden hardened distinction toward Hollows now. Ishida has always tried to help the vulnerable regardless of faction dynamics in the past.

Yet here he coldly cites Quincy’s doctrine over bonds with former comrades. It seems oddly contrary for someone normally aloof but good-natured.

Bleach (2023)

Ishida had never portrayed such uncompromising dogma over moral conscience previously. So when Ichigo’s team departs without him to rescue Dondochakka, it makes his isolation more suspicious in retrospect. The next time they crossover, it is with Ishida shockingly revealed as a Sternritter and now their enemy.

While Ishida’s intentions were unclear, Bleach had never depicted him as an antagonistic character until this pivot. But in the context of his recent suspicious behavior, his enlistment with Yhwach’s forces raises deeper questions about where his allegiances truly lie.

Bleach (2023)

His unexpected actions set the stage for bigger reveals once the truth emerges.

Ishida’s Tragic Discovery and the Shadows of Quincy Loyalties

Following his split from Ichigo’s team, Ishida becomes fixated on digging into Quincy history, ignoring his father’s objections. This clandestine research unearths a disturbing truth about his mother’s death.

While supposedly due to illness, she was actually killed by Yhwach enacting Auswählen – the Holy Selection. This ritual drains power from impure Quincies to bolster Yhwach himself.

Bleach (2023)

In an eerie twist, Ichigo and Ishida’s mothers died on precisely the same day from Auswählen. Yhwach targeted and murdered them both to claim their abilities.

This not only bonds the two friends in tragedy but gives Ishida deeper motivation to seek vengeance against Yhwach.

Learning how Auswählen cut his mother’s life short only raises further questions about Ishida’s shift in allegiance though. Why would he ever align with the tyrant responsible for such a brutal loss?

Bleach (2023)

Is he plotting retribution from inside enemy ranks? Or does some other complex scheme fuel his startling betrayal? The truth of Quincy’s intentions remains carefully obscured for now. But these shadowy revelations from his past draw the coming confrontation between former friends into even sharper relief.

Ishida’s Double Game to Uncover Yhwach’s Achilles’ Heel

The tragic deaths of both Ishida and Ichigo’s mothers are traced back to Yhwach siphoning their power via Auswählen. Masaki perished battling Grand Fisher without her Quincy abilities. While the chronically ill Kanae died from the sudden loss of energy keeping her alive.

Bleach (2023)

Enraged by this massacre disguised through deception, Ishida hatched an elaborate plot to infiltrate and sabotage Yhwach’s empire from within. He joins the Sternritter, rising to become Yhwach’s heir – all as cover to act as a double agent for the Soul Society against the Quincy tyrant.

To sell his apparent switching of sides, Ishida confronts his former comrades asserting he will deal with them before Yhwach awakens. But in truth, he had discerned a critical gap in the emperor’s ability.

Bleach (2023)

Yhwach’s omnipotent “Almighty” is compromised whenever he divides the power with his second, Jugram. This rare vulnerability provides a slim chance he could actually be defeated.

Through cunning and sacrifice, Ishida achieved his initial objective – discovering Yhwach’s weakness and delivering the intelligence to the Soul Reapers.

Bleach (2023)

But with relations severed even from longtime allies, successfully sabotaging or surviving his deception remains an uncertain, ominous gambit. By uncovering the scope of Yhwach’s past atrocities though, Ishida’s complex subterfuge proves deeply personal behind the thin veil of betrayal.

Yhwach’s Puzzling Choice of Uryu as Successor

Yhwach selecting Uryu as his successor sent even bigger shockwaves than Quincy’s initial heel-turn. The Quincy emperor is highly cunning and regards his many followers as disposable pawns, with one exception – his unwaveringly loyal right-hand, Jugram Haschwalth.

By any calculation, Jugram seems the obvious heir apparent. He is the strongest Sternritter, entrusted to wield half of Yhwach’s nigh-omnipotent “Almighty” power. Yet Yhwach passes over his most proven lieutenant to name Uryu successor instead – an unexpected move from the normally strategic tyrant.

Several factors likely draw Yhwach’s interest toward the young Quincy talent though. Uryu remarkably survived Auswählen as a child despite being considered an “impure” Quincy.

And since unlocking his Vollständig power, his growth in strength and skill continue rising at an incredible pace.

Bleach (2023)

Still, Uryu seems a questionable candidate compared to the dependable Jugram. Does Yhwach hope to mold the last living Gemischt Quincy into his true ideological successor?

Does he have designs to pit his two most powerful acolytes against each other? Or does he simply intend to use Uryu as a contingency should Jugram fall?

Bleach (2023)

As with all things in Bleach, the emperor’s motives remain obscured behind shadows. But his unexpected decision elevates Uryu’s role drastically in the coming endgame. Whatever “The Almighty” has planned, this surprise shakeup of succession will surely factor heavily into the climax ahead.

Yhwach’s Calculated Move with Uryu as The Antithesis

To the shock of his forces, Yhwach publicly declares Uryu to be his successor. He grants the young Quincy incredible new power as “A” – The Antithesis – with the ability to reverse events between targets. If Uryu takes injury in battle, he can instantly redirect the damage to his opponent while healing himself.

Bleach (2023)

Yet despite these overt shows of favor, Jugram discerns Yhwach’s true intentions – to keep Uryu under observation rather than sincerely name him heir. As The Almighty, little slips past Yhwach’s notice.

He likely saw through Uryu’s supposed betrayal from the outset. But rather than eliminate this potential threat, The Quincy King opts to elevate Uryu as bait within his ranks.

Bleach (2023)

This grants Yhwach’s loyal warriors the opportunity to scrutinize the new successor. While also allowing someone of Jugram’s strength a chance to remove Uryu should he prove troublesome.

In the end, Uryu maintains his secret agenda despite his cover being compromised. But now he must operate under even more perilous pretense – betraying betrayers who were expecting his betrayal. The deception and counter-deception continue escalating to even greater high stakes.

In the fight against Haschwalth Uryu activated his schrift reversing all his damage back onto Haschwalth. Then Haschwalth used The Balance and once more reversed the damage onto Uryu at which point Uryu collapsed and Haschwalth won. But was there anything stopping Uryu from activating his schrift yet again and diverting his injuries once more?

Adamant soul

Adamant soul

The Balance not only would have put the damage back on Uryu, but it was explained it also increases the damage they take so Uryu would always end up taking more damage than Haschwalth would. The fact remains The Balance is also automatic whereas The Antithesis is not, it needs to be activated by Uryu. Meaning there will come a time where Uryu is too injured and in too much pain to activate his schrift whereas Haschwalth would never reach that point. As Haschwalth says to Uryu, The Balance is a terrible match-up for The Antithesis.

Keishin

He did use it again when Haschwalt died to get rid of the damage, but yeah he cant win against balance with antithesis as it also punishes for damaging hasch, even if antithesis in of itself is a great power.

Then who apart Ichebei and Yhwach could possibly defeat Jugram? No matter what happens he can just deflect it right?

Source of Hate

You have to understand how the Balance works to know why Uryu was at a disadvantage. The Balance can determine what are fortune/misfortunes and reverse their effects. When Uryu reversed the damage, the Balance took Haschwalth's inflicted misfortune(the damage) and redirected it towards Uryu; and then took Uryu's fortune(healing) and enforced an equal amount of misfortune. Thereby doubling the amount of damage that Uryu reversed. This, by the way, is proof of how much physically stronger than Haschwalth Uryu is. Because even evading one of Haschwalth's attacks is considered a fortune. So Uryu probably received the damage of all the attacks that he dodged on top of the ones he received directly. Uryu is a tank

Uryu used his Schrift in an incredibly basic and straightforward way. The other SR were combining their Schrifts with their weapons, using them in indirect ways, and Haschwald even had a shield he could use with his Schrift. Despite his gifts, Uryu was simply not a good enough fighter. But I actually think it's very strange that Uryu wasn't more prepared for battle in that arc. He always plans extensively, but for whatever reason, he was just diving in headfirst and unprepared in that arc.

I think this debate really just boils down to a big problem in the final arc: Uryū was pretty wasted in it. His plan was weak sauce and pairing him with Haschwalth didn't give him a chance to shine. I always thought it would have been badass if Yhwach declared that he trusted Ishida fully because there was no scenario he could foresee with the Almighty wherein his successor betrays him. In fact, he grants Uryū the pleasure of killing Ichigo to cement his status as his favored "son." Ishida readies to shoot a defeated Ichigo at point-blank range with his special arrow that he had reserved just for him. He fires, only for the trajectory of the arrow to reverse onto Yhwach. Haschwalth blocks the arrow with his Freund Schild before it can hit His Majesty. The Balance explains that he too could not foresee a future where Ishida turned against the Wandenreich, but he instinctually knew in his bones that the half-blood Quincy was a traitor in waiting. Jugram notes that whatever arrow Ishida fired at Yhwach is poisoned and readies to redirect its effects back onto the traitor. Meanwhile, Yhwach is completely alarmed as he struggles to understand how Ishida was able to bypass his Almighty. The Quincy King tries to warn Jugram to stop, but the Balance redirects the poison onto Ishida. Ishida calmly tanks the corrosion in his veins and explains that Still Silver doesn't work against him (insert backstory about how his grandfather inoculated him when he was a kid). He reveals his Schrift -- Antithesis -- and reverses the poison onto Jugram, whose Schrift is muted by the venom. The Balance falls back, dying, while Uryū explains how he was groomed from birth to counteract the Almighty. He uses his ability to restore Ichigo's Bankai and the two "brothers" begin their final fight with their ancestor. Alright, I got a little carried away with the speculation there; just spitballing. The bottom line is that I would have liked for Ishida's ability to play a more central role in the final battle and for him to get his time to shine as a badass.

MarchLochnessMarch said: Yhwach would still see what would happen, but he cannot see when it is flipped by the Antithesis. Uryu can only reverse outcomes when they have happened or are happening; so Yhwach sees the event happen, but he doesn’t see how it is then reversed. Therefore, Yhwach cannot see Ishida’s betrayal because Ishida would have to let the action happen before he reverses it. I hope I’m explaining this adequately lol. Click to expand...

MarchLochnessMarch said: Untested! Although it could be argued that the only reason why Uryu was able to shoot Yhwach with Still Silver was because of his Schrift. My theory is that Yhwach would see that branch of time unfold as it would without the Antithesis’ intervention, but he wouldn’t see how the timeline loops back to the point of divergence and forks off into a new direction. My argument is that if Yhwach is able to see the whole expanse of time like it’s a map on the ground, Uryu is able to retrace steps and rewrite the map in real-time. Click to expand...

Bleach- Is Uryu Antithesis now a Dojutsu like the Almighty?

Dojutsu = eye power

In the previous cour 2, uryu demonstrated his strategic prowess and powerful dojutsu ability. first, he used his eye power to teleport and escape the zero squad's hot water spring attack, landing face-to-face with shutura. the second time, he utilized this power to aid yhwach's escape from the tree of life inescapable cage, teleporting yhwach and switching places with the medallion..

You can noticed that Uryu had prepared for this moment. He had preemptively switched Yhwach's medallion with one he had prepared. This clever maneuver indicates that Uryu can stack his powers multiple times, significantly enhancing his abilities.

  • Uryu used his pre-timer to ensure Yhwach and the medallion could switch places.
  • Uryu then switched the medallion with the one Yhwach had.
  • This raises an intriguing question: Is Uryu now in possession of Yamamoto's bankai?

These are screnshoots the moment he set up the medallion:

No Caption Provided

In Cour 3, Uryu faces Senjumaru or Ichigo with the Antethesis?

No Caption Provided

The Anime made the Antethesis into a "eye power" (dojutsu) similar to how Yhwach's power is an ocular power ability in the series.

What are your thoughts on Uryu getting a power up on Senjumaru's power level?

Nice, this is something that's needed which wasn't shown on the manga.

I give this an applause.

Avatar image for theemperor95

I don't see how it's a dojutsu. As nodt did the same thing where he used blut on his eyes

Also he didn't switch out his medallion with yhwachs he just changed the past i.e changed it to where yhwach was thrown and not the medallion

@theemperor95 : where is the source of this? This is not how the power is stated or shown to work. I need right now a source where the power works the way you are mentioning.

@ryuuzakiscorpio : it's from the manga...he switches what has happened between any 2 objects. In the manga he only used it for injuries but the anime now shows us he can do far more than injuries

Avatar image for undre

@ryuuzakiscorpio : that's not the same cross with yamas bankai. Yhwach had another one on his jacket which ichibei nullified. Ichibei nullified a power that steals power lol.

@theemperor95 : Nahh its just reversing events/reality. Tho the closet thing he did to going back in the past was when went back to his previous position against senjumaru

@undre : he literally explained his powers as reversing what happened between 2 things. Which is what I said...he switches what happens between 2 objects

@theemperor95 : but in the anime is more complex and given more depth.

@ryuuzakiscorpio : nothing about uryu power has been explained so saying it's more complex is headcanon. From what we know right now he simply used his power to switch it from the medallion being thrown out of the cage to yhwach being thrown out of the cage

@theemperor95 : uryu may have another facet to his power. He only used one eye to swap yhwach and 2 eyes to fight unsealed Senjumaru

@undre : maybe he does but to say that is complete headcanon right now as the only explanation we have for his power is the manga. I'm sure the anime will expand on it but can't say anything for certain yet

@theemperor95 : yea. Also the fact uryu isn't even using his holy form is crazy. Imagine how broken his power is with his holy form

Yhwach didn't look like he wasn't thrown out of the cage. He wasn't spinning? This already contradicts the already established rules and makes your comment a bit silly to believe as its contradicted. You said, "events that already happened" the event here was a "spinning medallion" and Yhwach wasn't spinning, so obviously there is more to his ability than in the manga.

I don't think Uryu will have one or use it. Maybe at the end to use the arrow of silver on Yhwach? Like a cameo? I don't know.

That vollstandig against Ichigo could possibly be Askin and the scene will be cut off and come back later to Ichigo laying on the floor.

@ryuuzakiscorpio : guess what big advantage yhwach has over the medallion in mid air...he can control his movement. The moment he's switched his legs hit the ground (not really ground but you get the point) and stops spinning

@theemperor95 : there was no showing of that. Yhwach just appeared like he was teleported. He doesn’t have infinite speed.

@ryuuzakiscorpio : he was essentially teleported. Uryu switching it to where yhwach was thrown instead means that he appears where the medallion was. It doesn't change it to where we see yhwach flying through the air just like we didn't see jugram get slashed one at a time. He says yhwach was thrown instead once the medallion left the cage so yhwach is now out of the cage instead of the medallion which was never thrown and instead where yhwach used to be

@theemperor95 : that makes sense 🧐

10 Strongest Uryu Ishida's Techniques in Bleach, Ranked

uryu antithesis explained

Uryu Ishida is one of the strongest Quincy in the Bleach story. He often accompanies Ichigo on dangerous adventures. Because of this, he often faces strong opponents, such as Mayuri Kurotsuchi and Szayelaporro Grantz.

In this article, we would like to discuss the most strongest techniques owned by Uryu Ishida. What are they? Check the full discussion through this article!

10. Hirenkyaku

uryu antithesis explained

Similar to Shunpo or Sonidó, Hirenkyaku is a Quincy technique that focuses on speed. This technique allows the user to achieve high speed by utilizing the flow of Reishi that is above the user's feet.

According to Captain Mayuri, this technique is very difficult to master. He was so amazed when Ishida was able to use this technique so skillfully. With a high level of speed, Ishida can issue successive attacks that are very difficult for opponents to predict.

uryu antithesis explained

Kojaku is an arrow weapon that was first used by Ishida to fight. The size of the arrows varied greatly depending on how much energy Ishida used.

With these arrows, Ishida was able to defeat Hollows in just one strike. He used to use his flagship move called Heilig Pfeil. Despite this, Ishida no longer uses this arrow after the fight with Mayuri.

8. Ginrei Kojaku

uryu antithesis explained

After experiencing a deadly battle against Mayuri, Ishida was injured so badly that he could not access his Quincy powers. To restore these powers, he trained under his father's direction.

Thanks to the hard and torturous training, Ishida managed to regain his strength. Not only that, he also got a new, more powerful arrow called Ginrei Kojaku. Ishida demonstrated the arrow's power during the fight against the Arrancar.

7. Seele Schneider

uryu antithesis explained

Unlike the previous weapon, Seele Schneider is a special arrow that can be used by Quincy. Interestingly, these arrows can function as spiritual swords which are useful for close combat.

Seele Schneider works very much like a chainsaw. The weapon is capable of emitting vibrations that can cut its target. The power of this weapon was clearly seen when Ishida fought against an Arrancar named Cirucci Sanderwicci.

6. Sprenger

uryu antithesis explained

Sprenger is one of Ishida's strongest techniques which is quite complex. To activate this technique, Ishida needs to use five pentagon-shaped Seele Schneiders. The five weapons function as accumulators that collect Reishi.

After the opponent is trapped in the middle of the pentagon, Ishida will pour the liquid Reiryoku stored in a special tube called Gintō. The liquid is a trigger that can produce massive explosions and give fatal wounds to enemies.

5. Heilig Bogen

uryu antithesis explained

Heilig Bogen is a crossbow that Ishida got after he joined the Wandenreich. The arrow has a different design from the two previous Ishida arrows.

When using this arrow, Ishida still uses attacks that are commonly used, such as Heilig Pfeil and Licht Regen. However, the attack effect is far more deadly. This was clearly seen when he fought against Jugram Haschwalt.

4. Licht Regen

uryu antithesis explained

Licht Regen is one of the signature techniques that Ishida often uses in battle. This technique allows him to unleash a series of arrow attacks by utilizing a large amount of Reiryoku.

As Ishida's strength increases, the attack power of Licht Regen is much stronger. After Ishida got Heilig Bogen, the effectiveness of this technique was far more lethal so that Ishida was able to issue a barrage of attacks almost without pause.

3. Heilig Pfeil

uryu antithesis explained

Heilig Pfeil is arguably Ishida's mainstay technique which he uses the most. This technique allows the user to create arrows by pulling Reishi around the user.

When Ishida used Heilig Bogen, the form of Heilig Pfeil looked different compared to before. The arrow tip looked completely identical to Quincy Zeichen. In addition, the resulting damage effect is far more terrible.

2. Quincy: Letzt Stil

uryu antithesis explained

In a life and death battle against Mayuri, Ishida must exert his strength to the last drop of his blood. By using all of Quincy's powers, he was able to transform more powerfully by activating Quincy: Letzt Stil.

After activating the new form, Ishida's strength as well as attack increased significantly. He was able to destroy Mayuri's Bankai. Moreover, he even almost killed Mayuri in that battle.

1. Antithesis

uryu antithesis explained

Antithesis is arguably Ishida's strongest ability. He got this ability from Ywach. With that ability, he is able to change the situation that occurs in the two targets he chooses.

If Ishida is seriously injured during battle, he can use Antithesis to change his state with that of his enemy. In that way, he could heal himself as well as transfer his injuries to the enemy.

Shouldn't Uryu have Precog-Immunity on his page? Since neither Yhwach or Jugram can see his future with The Almighty. -Yhwach never suspected of Uryu's betrayeed even with the Almighty on. -Yhwach never saw the Arrow coming. (That took his powers away.) -Jugram was able to see actions around Uryu, but he couldn't confirmed them, or that it was him. He was "suspicious" and was constantly asking question about his betrayed. With the Almighty on. -Yhwach said Uryu's power surpassed his own. (The Almighty) -Jugram couldn't see that "version" of Uryu that fought with him. -Jugram couldn't see that Uryu was gonna still be alive until dawn. -Jugram said Uryu's power can rival and surpass the Almighty. Shouldn't this be proof enough, that his Antithesis makes Uryu immune to precog?

Maybe Yhwach didn't care about Uryuu and thought him as a source of power named Anti-Thesis. About not seeing Arrow coming , my personal thought about this Haschwalth altered the future as Yhwach thought he took the power of Anti-Thesis from Uryuu and Uryuu was dead. Haschwalth asked these questions because he was trying to understand the reason of betrayal of Ishida. Yhwach said that Ishida was the only Quincy that can resist his Auswahlen not Almighty. And said Ishida has something that can surpass his powers. But that was a lie because Ichigo Karin and Yuzu also resisted Auswahlen. Haschwalth already saw how Ishida will respond. Jugram said his power can counter Almighty , not can surpass.

Yeah i said my personal thoughts. But it is not known that Uryuu born with Anti-Thesis though.i I said these to say it was a lie.Because Yhwach said Ishida was the only Quincy that could resist his Auhswahlen(which is a lie) and said he has something that can surpass his own powers. The first statement is a lie so the other statement should be lie IMO. Yhwach said he was the only "mixed quincy" that survive, Ichigo is a shinigami/Vizard all the way to the final arc were he unlocked his quincy powers which were dormant, Yuzu and Karin are still Human. http://www.********.net/manga/chapter/107481_bleach-chapter-544/page_6 He can surpass his power. http://www.********.net/manga/chapter/107481_bleach-chapter-544/page_7 If is not the Antithesis as we have seen, then according to your specualtion what is it? Uryu has nothing else. Also, like I said. I didn't mention the Auswhalen above, because the thread is about the Almighty. Not Auswhalen.

Dude Yuzu and Karin also mixed Quincy.Their father is not Quincy. That makes them mixed Quincy.Ishida's father is Pure Quincy but his mother is Mixed Quincy. Surpassing his power is a lie IMO.Maybe Yhwach wanted Ishida to not betray him and said these to make him believe the next Emperor. I didn't understand this ?

I know this thread is about Anti-Thesis and Almighty but i'm saying Auswahlen didn't affect only Uryuu was a lie.(Ichigo's sisters don't have Hollow powers so they should have affected by Auswahlen).Which means Yhwach can lie and maybe he lied about Uryuu surpassing his powers. Whatever these are my opinions and there is no need to talk about these anymore.Let's wait for others to state their thoughts.

Where is the prove that they don't have hollow powers? White hide himself inside Masaki when she was infected and she then gave birth to Ichigo, Karin and Yuzu. The three of them are born from the same mother and father. (I will insist you link the evidence to where it was stated that they don't posses hollow powers.) Ichigo didn't have Hollow powers either, until later when he awoke them and was teach how to use them.

Because when Ichigo was born , Hollow passed to Ichigo. http://www.***********.net/bleach/536/17 There is one Hollow in Masaki and Isshin says that the link between him and the Hollow was broken. He was talking about the same Hollow.

Hollow passed to Ichigo from his mother and Masaki was impure before she gave birth to Ichigo because of the Hollow. But after Ichigo was born , the Hollow in her passed to Ichigo but Misaki was impure and can't be pure Quincy anymore. But she had not got Hollow anymore. Because she was not a Pure Quincy anymore , on the Auswahlen day she died. But his sisters don't have any Hollow remnants on their blood. But their father was not Quincy.Nonetheless they didn't die. And Ichigo always had his Hollow powers , he was trying to master using his Hollow powers during his Vizard Training. Anyway these are my thoughts and we are going off-topic.

What i'm trying to say above what became impure can't become pure anymore.Well didn't hope you to understand it anyway. Until he absorb the soul king, hollows were poison to quincy's. Just one question sorry for going off-topic.Where did you get this from ?

Yeah i know Hollow reiatsu is poison to Quincys. But how can you be sure about that Yhwach was able to take Ichigo's powers because he absorbed Soul King ? IIRC there is nothing like that explained.Maybe he can take hollow-mixed reiatsu before absorbing Soul King. Then if we go with your logic , Ichigo and his sisters also have Hollow reiatsu. Then he should have taken their reiatsus also.

[Question] About Uryu's schrift

Can someone explain to me how Uryu can fight against The Almighty? We see that the Antithesis can reverse the events between 2 targets but it's just a reverse power. Yhwach can just change the future again. I think i'm missing something

  1. Uryū Ishida

Uryū Ishida (石田 雨竜, Ishida Uryū) is a Gemischt Quincy residing in Karakura Town. He is a doctor at Karakura Hospital and a friend of Ichigo Kurosaki. He is a former Sternritter of the Wandenreich with the designation A: Antithesis,[5] formerly one of Yhwach's Schutzstaffel,[6] and had been named by Yhwach as his future successor.[7] Uryū Ishida is a tall and bespectacled young man ...

  2. Theories on Uryu's Anti-Thesis. : r/bleach

Well, there are 2 main methods Yhwach can "regenerate." The first is by using the Auswahlen to absorb the life force of Quincies, in which case Uryu could just cut him down. The second is by using The Almighty to rewrite the future. But here's the kicker: Antithesis rewrites events which have already happened.

  3. Bleach: What Is Uryū Ishida's Schrift, "A"?

Keep reading to find out. The Schrift is a signification of a Sternritter's ability, and in the case of Uryu Ishida, the "A" means Antithesis, a very special power that was also quite powerful. Antithesis allowed Ishida to pick any two targets and then completely change what happened to them, i.e., he could transfer any injuries from one ...

  4. Was it ever explained why exactly Uryu was special? : r/bleach

Yhwach's power far exceeds what Uryu is or should be capable of. Nothing stops him from negating the effects of Antithesis in the future, or just killing him. As was shown against Jugram, Uryu's Antithesis is severely limited - Jugram himself said it can't hope to match The Balance. How it would hope to match Almighty is beyond me.

  5. What's A Schrift? What Is Uryu Ishida's Schrift's ...

For Yhwach, the Schrift A stands for The Almighty. An apt name for the kind of ability he has. Whereas, Uryu's Schrift A stands for The Anti-thesis. The Antithesis grants Uryu the ability to reverse and alter events happening between two targeted points. These two target points can be anything.

  6. Sternritter Talk: Uryū, The Antithesis : r/bleach

Ichigo and Uryu should have fought Yhwach together for a much longer time. We should have seen the Antithesis in action against the Almighty reversing it's effects on Tensa Zangetsu. Things like that would have been interesting. Also when they plan a battle together it's really fun to watch . 30.

  7. Uryu's New Schrift Power is One of Bleach's Most Broken Abilities

Uryu's new power in Bleach's Thousand-Year Blood War makes him extremely overpowered and a serious threat to the plot. Uryu's "A" Schrift power, Antithesis, allows him to reverse outcomes, making him nearly unbeatable in battle. Uryu's abilities, combined with his Vollstandig and other Quincy powers, make him one of the most formidable ...

  9. The Real Reason Why Uryu Betrayed Ichigo in Bleach

But his unexpected decision elevates Uryu's role drastically in the coming endgame. Whatever "The Almighty" has planned, this surprise shakeup of succession will surely factor heavily into the climax ahead. Yhwach's Calculated Move with Uryu as The Antithesis. To the shock of his forces, Yhwach publicly declares Uryu to be his successor.

  10. Question about The Antithesis

Jun 19, 2020. #2. The Balance not only would have put the damage back on Uryu, but it was explained it also increases the damage they take so Uryu would always end up taking more damage than Haschwalth would. The fact remains The Balance is also automatic whereas The Antithesis is not, it needs to be activated by Uryu.

  15. Uryu Antithesis upgrade?

I got a question about Antithesis from Uryu. He describes it as this: -It reverses events that have already taken place, between 2 designated points. -And Jugram says it can reverse anything that has happend. Why is it only Limited Casuality Manipulation? Wouldnt this fall under Reality...

  22. [Question] About Uryu's schrift : r/bleach

Uryu's is the power to reverse events that have occurred between two individuals. So he could, for example, use his Antithesis on Ichigo and Ywach, making it so that instead of Ichigo's power that was broken (broken Bankai, broken Hollow horn) it is Ywach's power that was broken. Or if he was just going up against Ywach in general.
