Year 5 | Translation and Reflection Challenge Worksheets
These Year 5 translation and reflection challenge worksheets present a square grid divided into four quadrants. The first quadrant displays marked points A, B, C, and D at specific coordinates, requiring children to skillfully write down the coordinates of these points. Following this, they connect the points with lines, forming and shading a trapezoid. The challenge heightens as your pupils are then prompted to translate this trapezoid ten squares to the left and three squares up. To further enhance their spatial understanding, learners will engage in the final step: reflecting the newly translated shape across the horizontal mirror line.
By writing down the coordinates of marked points on the grid, pupils develop and reinforce their understanding of coordinates and improve their ability to locate points accurately. By connecting points and forming shapes such as trapezoids on the grid, pupils enhance their shape recognition skills and develop an understanding of geometric shapes in a visual context.
Our Year 5 translation and reflection challenge worksheets are aligned with KS2 geometry: position and direction on the primary national curriculum. All of our Year 5 geometry: position and direction worksheets can be combined with your ideas for primary maths activities, learning resources, teaching material, visual aids, games, differentiation, display boards, homework, and lesson plans.
