Introduce children to arrays with this worksheet. At this stage, arrays are used to represent repeated addition as multiplication is introduced in Year 2.
In section A students are presented with various repeated addition problems and they will choose from pairs of arrays, the array that correctly matches each problem.
Next pupils will draw arrays to match given number sentences, helping them visualise the concept of repeated addition in a more interactive way.
Lastly, in section C learners are shown different arrays and must write the corresponding repeated addition number sentence for each one. This allows learners to begin to see how different addition statements can be written about the same arrays.
