Before that mischievous blue alien experiment known as Stitch got his own direct-to-video (DTV) movie and TV series, was heralded the unofficial mascot of Disney's California Adventure theme park, and came to rival Mickey Mouse and Winnie the Pooh as the face of Disney's modern merchandise,

Lilo and Stitch go out for a "Hawaiian Rollercoaster Ride" on the hovercraft that Nani has unsatisfactorily hidden from them.

Pleakley tries to make Nani jealous with an unconvincing disguise.

Jumba offers his creation a cookie in the captivating short film "The Origin of Stitch."

UPDATE LOG:

Introduction to Jumba's Experiment Files Wiki

Community-header-background

Hmm? Ah! Little Girl and 626 have visitors, hmm? Well, a proper introduction is in order! I am Dr. Jumba Jookiba; evil genius, Kweltikwan resident of Little Girl's domicile, and creator of over 625 genetic experiments! Hmm? Oh, so you are for to learn more about my creations? Wonderful, humans who wish for to be making more creations like my own! So long as you credit me as your inspiration, we shall make great partners! *cackles evily* Um, I am being given angry look by Pleakley and Bigger Girl, so we shall have to be keeping this brief. Come, I shall bring you to my office.

Welcoming, my friends, to evil laboratory! ...Okay, is mainly my bedroom where I share space with one-eyed noodle Pleakley, but why to be splitting of hairs, hmm? Here, Jumba has archived every single experiment ever made/caught by Little Girl, and almost all have been converted from their formerly evil forms to good. Is a bit of a shame, I know, but is small price to pay to see my experiments roaming free again.

Regardingless, to avoiding becoming bogged down with too many similar creations, we'll be going in the order in which genius experiments were tame-ed. And not to be worrying about 626; we shall save my most successful creation for last!

So please, to be sitting back, relaxing, and enjoying this, a showcase of every grand experiment I have ever conceived!

Also, if you want to help me with archiving experiments, please read the wiki rules . In the meantime, you can see which experiments have been archived at the moment.

Jumba has one of the greatest minds on earth for creating his experiments. He cannot compare to anyone, and his creations are beyond extraordinary. Today he wants to create some new forms of tests, but he runs out of ideas. This is why he needs your help. Get into Jumba’s Lab game and help him create the best experiments ever.

How to play the game

To do that, you need just a little bit of imagination and some creative skills! When you enter the lab, you will see that there is a multitude of bodies and other things to choose to create your little monster. You can pick whatever body, head, ears, and tails and so on. When you are sure you want to use a specific part of the body, click on it then go to another one.

After you picked everything and you can see a complete version of your creation, choose a color or a pattern and give it a unique final look. Use the most original colors to give life to your little experiment. If there is something that you do not like about how your creation looks like, you can clear it anytime and do it again. When you want to activate it, just press the red button, and you will have to do just a few more steps to see it in action.

Choose a name for the experiment, and then decide where you want to launch it. On an island, or in a city, and so go on. It is all up to you where you want to see your creation.

If you enjoy playing Jumba's Lab, you might be excited to find out that there are 23 more Lilo and Stitch games you can try! The most popular is 625 Sandwich Stacker , and the most recently added is Alien Interception

The Blues Brothers (25th anniversary edition)

If you think George W. Bush has a smirk, you should’ve seen bad-boy director and Chicago native John Landis back in 1979, when a (some would say starstruck) Mayor Jayne Byrne gave him an all-access pass to the City That Works and said, in essence, “Here, call it your sandbox.” Which Landis, then all of 28, did: He closed the Eisenhower Expressway and Lower Wacker Drive for chase scenes, wrecked dozens of police cars and smashed the legendary Bluesmobile through the front windows of the Daley Center — all while stars Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi opened a secret speakeasy for after-hours partying. The mayhem marked a total reversal of the policies of Mayor Richard J. Daley, who banished movie crews from Chicago after Haskell Wexler used ’68 riot footage in his film “Medium Cool.” Essential viewing for all those who love Chicago, the blues and great musical comedies, “The Blues Brothers” DVD also comes with an additional 15 minutes of footage in an extended version. (Consider that Aykroyd’s original script ran more than 300 pages.) Purists need not worry; the original film is still here, along with a wealth of special features that range from how the all-star band got its start to a behind-the-scenes look at filming in Chicago — and the infamous antics of Belushi, who once left the set to raid the fridge and crash out on the couch at a complete stranger’s house. (R) — Louis R. Carlozo

DVD rating (star)(star)(star)(star)

Tribune movie critic Gene Siskel’s 1980 rating for “The Blues Brothers”: (star)(star)(star)(star)

Lilo & Stitch 2 (no star rating)

The subtitle is “Stitch Has a Glitch,” though fans of Chris Sanders’ original film may detect the glitch in Lilo’s character, with the voice of Daveigh Chase replaced by that of the omnipresent Dakota Fanning. For those unfamiliar with the original 2002 animated film, a Hawaiian girl (Lilo) adopts a pet (Stitch) who is actually an extraterrestrial fugitive. This time around, Stitch’s molecular makeup is out of whack, thus messing with his behavior and his friendship with Lilo. Set all this to Elvis music, and the result sounds strange — in a good way. We hope. (PG) — L.C.

Added features: “The Origin of Stitch”; “Jumba’s Experiment Profiler”; music video “Hawaiian Rollercoaster Ride” by Jump5.

Ong-Bak: The Thai

Warrior (star)(star)(star)

Meet the new Jackie Chan: Tony Jaa. Combining Chan’s daredevil feats with Jet Li’s calm ferocity, Jaa generates a powerful cinematic experience. Under spare, golden lights, Jaa searches for an ancient artifact in Bangkok, crushing his opponents with Muay Thai, a close-quarters boxing style that’s as majestic as it is devastating. (R) — Robert K. Elder

Added features: Rap music video featuring Jaa; making of the music video; “The 8 Movements of Muay Thai”; behind-the-scenes stunt footage; Jaa performances; promotional video featuring The RZA.

Tommy Boy (1995) (star)(star)

In this movie, Chris Farley and David Spade play a pair of opposites who attract when they’re thrown together on a journey, just like raucous John Candy and prim Steve Martin in “Planes, Trains and Automobiles.” Farley is fat and physical. Spade is skinny and sarcastic. They have chemistry, largely because their characters — and their comic approaches — are so different. But what’s wrong with “Tommy Boy” is its mix of sketch humor and semi-real context. Bogged down in formulas, the movie tries and fails to pump a little reality — and warmth — into its crude gags. (PG-13) — Michael Wilmington

Added features: Two-disc set includes: feature film commentary by director Peter Segal; four featurettes; six deleted scenes; six alternate takes; 15 extended scenes; seven storyboard comparisons; 19 TV spots; gag reel; photo gallery.

CRITIC’S PICKS

Four remarkable foreign art film classics (all (star)(star)(star)(star)) premiere on DVD this week by master directors Jean Renoir of France, Roberto Rosselini of Italy, Masaki Kobayashi of Japan and Theo Angelopoulos of Greece, the first three from Criterion, the last from New Yorker Video.

Renoir’s 1932 “Boudu Saved From Drowning” (Criterion) — remade by Paul Mazursky in 1986 as “Down and Out in Beverly Hills” — shows shaggy, free-spirited tramp Boudu (played with delicious cheek by Michel Simon), reducing a bourgeois household to chaos. Rescued from the Seine and sheltered by the liberal bookseller Lestingois (Charles Granval), Boudu quickly shatters the family’s bourgeois veneer and lets loose a flood of sexuality and bad behavior. Bathed in sunlight and high spirits, this is the Renoir film closest in mood and humor to his own favorite filmmaker, Charlie Chaplin. (In French with English subtitles.) (Simon’s great late role as “Grampa” in Claude Berri’s “The Two of Us” is now on view at The Music Box Theatre.)

One of the most remarkable of all religious films, Rossellini’s 1950 “The Flowers of St. Francis” (Criterion) applies the rigorous tactics of Italian neorealism to a re-creation of the lives of St. Francis and his followers during the time of the Renaissance — creating a vision of pure spiritual idealism faced with everyday problems. It’s a transcendent experience. (In Italian, with English subtitles.)

Kobayashi’s great, savagely exciting 1962 Japanese samurai revenge saga, “Harakiri” — once voted by Japanese critics their country’s all-time best film — stars Tatsuya Nakadai (“Ran”) as an unemployed samurai in feudal 1603, a desperate man who holds a courtyard full of lords, retainers and swordsmen spellbound as he recounts a violent tale and threatens a violent conclusion: ritual suicide or hara-kiri. (In Japanese, with English subtitles.)

Angelopoulos’ 1988 masterpiece “Landscape in the Mist” (New Yorker) is a strange, lyrical road film in which two orphaned Greek children travel over a bewitching landscape in search of their lost father. Done in exquisite long takes, the film is visually breathtaking and emotionally haunting: a modern tale of despair and alienation that casts a unique spell. (In Greek, with English subtitles) — Michael Wilmington
