Best Year of my Life!

  • Infrastructure, College Bar (You’ll network with a vibrant mix of people there), Social Events, Kings Ball, Faculty, Staff
  • Course (As it was just theoretical)

King's College London was always my dream college. At first, my application was rejected, but then all of a sudden I got a mail saying I was acknowledged. I always wanted to go to King's because of variety of courses available there and as I wanted to get into marketing, I decided to pursue International Marketing but what came to my disappointment was that the Course Fee was too high and the course structure was designed in away that there was no practical experience included in the course. However, it was genuinely the best experience of my life. I made new friends, learned so many new things and got an experience of living independently.

KCL - MSc Banking and Finance

  • The program structure - 6 months of teaching followed by 3 months of dissertation. ,
  • The course was quite practical in terms of the knowledge imparted and the skills developed. ,
  • The faculty in the 2nd trimester was industry professionals who shared industry insights.
  • The dissertation support was minimal and it wasn't conducted in an ideal manner. ,
  • The cohort was mostly people with 0-1 years of work experience and not as diverse as I was expecting.

I chose this college because of the reputation and rankings of the university and its location being London. My overall experience was good, with a few pros and cons as mentioned above.

Great experience

  • I like the Campus.
  • I dislike the Assessment Methods (More exams than practical application)

My main motivation for choosing this college was that they provided a unique list of modules that were not available in other top-ranking colleges.

KCL MSc Neuroscience review

  • King's College London is an esteemed college, has a good world ranking, and is quite well known so that is beneficial. ,
  • Academically, the structure of the syllabus is very clear. You will always have an idea at the very beginning of the course, about when you submit each assignment and where the exams will be held. ,
  • You are well informed about the career options after the course. Opportunities to network with people in different fields. ,
  • King's College London has 4 campuses across main London, wherein the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience (IOPPN) is a separate campus in itself. ,
  • Travelling to any of these campuses is very accessible and you can use any of them. For example, there are libraries on all campuses. Almost all campuses have at least one 24/7 library. ,
  • Teachers are very warm and kind. You can always approach them.
  • There is no placement as such. You can find career fairs happening on campus and career mentors. However, there is no placement cell. ,
  • The lab experience for everyone will be different. Which can be considered good or bad. However, for a dissertation, you can rank the projects you want to work on, and if you end up getting a lower rank of your preference, then you might not get the kind of research experience you want. You can always opt to reach out individually to researchers in that case.

I chose this college as I really loved their website specifically for Neuroscience. Exposure to using fMRI, and brain histology really motivated me to apply for an MSc in Neuroscience at KCL. This course allowed me to choose a speciality out of neuroimaging, neurodegeneration, cognitive neuroscience and neural stem cells - all topic very much in demand in neuroscience research. Out of three offers that I got, KCL was the best university ranking wise, exposure wise, location wise. My overall experience was definitely very good especially because of the support by teachers, who were always very helpful and kind.

Insight into KCL

  • Stellar Academics, Good Extracurricular activities, Inclusive campus and welcoming students, Proximity to the best locations (Corporate Offices help with open days), Stellar Faculty , Emphasis on Applied Learning
  • Major emphasis on self-studying (less hand-held support), Assessment arrangements can sometimes be "not ideal", Cost of Living

I chose my course, particularly King's because I did not know what I wanted to do at the time of applying but I had a rough idea that it would be something related to economics and the field of finance which is why I chose economics and management which has a good mix of both quantitative and qualitative learning.

Masters at King’s College London

  • It is a one-year course that is really extensive and creative in its structure. We have to work really hard but it keeps us motivated.

I chose this college because of it's ranking and referral from knowns. The university is in London. The college ranking (under the top 40) mainly.

KCL - PG review.

  • I love how the people and professors are.
  • I dislike that the entire exam system is just like schools while I prefer to have continuous assessment. ,
  • It is also that while there is a careers office to help you with resume writing, a university job portal and all, no placement team is there which brings companies to campuses. So it is quite hard to get jobs on your own.

I chose King's because of the programme as it is interdisciplinary, as well as it was a blend of Economics and Policy, the two subjects which I preferred to do. The campus is also located in Central London which is perfect to network and connect with industry professionals.

Believe it, Do it, Achieve it!

  • Excellent infrastructure that helps the students to develop skills and remove any hindrances in their research. ,
  • Really equipped and updated with the latest technology. Great career-building activities providing real-world exposure. ,
  • Learned and experienced staff that are working in their respective fields for almost 20 to 30 years. So, you can understand the knowledge base they must have.
  • Placement cell not so efficient. Fewer opportunities and guidance.

My university is known for the efficient and learned staff along with the unique body of researches conducted at the institute. It is known as the best for finance courses and industry exposure programmes. Hence, this was the main point that attracted me to select this university and gain profound knowledge.

Days in my Life at King's College

I chose the university for its high global ranking (15th in the world) and excellent reputation. I was also impressed by their focus on psychiatric and neurological research which is what I am interested in pursuing.

Incredibly Flexible program of Biomedical Sciences

I have chosen this university because of the immaculate course. The course has incredible flexibility as in Y2 you can choose very tailored modules to yourself after a Y1 which is a taster of the wide range of modules. These include: anatomy, biochemistry, genetics, neuroscience, pharmacology, cell biology among others. The campus is also situated in the heart of London with walking journey to attractions such as London eye, tower bridge etc.

Indian  students seeking admission in the MBBS program of King’s Londo College must have passed Class XII examination with at least 90% marks from CBSE and CISCE boards only. You must also take UCAT in order to get admission in this program.

The deadlines for applying to King’s College London are kept strictly stagnant except for required adjustments to international events. Thus, students should find the process very subtle as the stagnant dates prepare students beforehand. Also, this reduces discrepancies and anxiety. KCL Admission Deadline: How To Apply in UG/PG?

The acceptance rate of KCL is very low, just 13%. The prestigious college has currently 29,637 students enrolled with international students from over 150 countries. This college has 180 undergraduate courses and 233 postgraduate courses. Thus, there is stiff competition and great courses that the most meritorious students from all over the world target which makes the overall acceptance rate so low. Thus, students aspiring to take a seat at the lecture halls of KCL must be well-equipped with the application process for KCL UG/PG courses.

Interview Process

Invitations for the interview to KCL applications generally arrive in emails of the candidates one week prior to the interview. Students should check their spam inboxes as sometimes they enter spam. Students can also check on King’s Apply. However, it is mandatory to reply to these emails for interview confirmation.

These are the most important documents that have to be produced at the time of the interview after applications are accepted at KCL.

  • ID Proof of the student.
  • Letter of acceptance from KCL.
  • Educational transcripts.

Students should be equipped with the format of the KCL interviews after their applications are accepted. This would reduce their anxiety. Not only this but also their preparation becomes better and the pattern allows them to have better control of the interview process.

  • Short-format interviews are conducted.
  • There can be multiple interviews.
  • Q&A in 2 interviews.
  • 1-on-1 interview with one-panel member who might ask multiple questions.

With a low acceptance rate of 13%, academic qualifications, and consistency are the two main criteria judged by the interview panel. The scenario is fast and competitive. Students must exude confidence and honesty. Thus, the students must fulfill all basic requirements and aim for high test scores.

King’s College of London is one of the most reputed colleges in the world with a huge deal of internal banter while selecting students. This is primarily because the students are very ideal for admission while the acceptance rate of the college is very low. However, students must try to get through as the degree holds a lot of value in the further career prospects of their lives. The college is known for its myriad combinations of subjects available to students in their higher education. Thus, students of almost every stream have a scope to study at King’s College London.

Ans. Once applications are sent over to King’s College of London, the University might take between 4 to 8 weeks to consider the application. The University also has some competitive postgraduate courses where the applications might take longer to be processed. This is because of a slightly different approach toward the selection. The procedure is called ‘gathered field’. This happens especially when the competition is high and there are equally talented and meritorious students. The applications are then grouped together according to some criteria and the best ones are chosen according to the vacancies for that particular course.

Ans. King’s College of London is one of the toughest colleges to get admission into. This is because the admission acceptance rate is very low, just 13%. The prestigious college has currently 29,637 students enrolled with international students from over 150 countries. This college has 180 undergraduate courses and 233 postgraduate courses. Thus, there is stiff competition and great courses that the most meritorious students from all over the world target which makes the overall acceptance rate so low.

Ans. The application deadlines for 2023 entry closed recently on 26th January for most of the courses. However, for medicine and dentistry, the application deadlines were till October of the preceding year of entry. However, late applications might be considered for international students. This is to facilitate the already long process that international students have to cross to study at KCL.

Ans. Individuals applying to the jobs at KCL have to sit for an interview after their application gets processed. KCL generally sends out interview invitations via email. Candidates should check their spam emails as well in case the career emails gather there. However, for senior positions, there might be a possibility of face-to-face informal catch-ups before the interview.

International students might find study abroad processes a little hectic with a lot of dates here and there. So, if you are looking forward to pursuing your career abroad , sign up for the free career counseling session at 1800572000 and gain an opportunity to talk to our Leverage Edu mentors to feel the ease of your dream career journey!

Engineering Phd Studentship : Ignition and fire spread processes in the Wildland Urban Interface.

Subject areas:.

Engineering.

Funding type:

Bench Fees / Research Training & Support Grant. Stipend. Study costs.

Awarding body:

Leverhulme Centre for Wildfires, Environment and Society.

United Kingdom.

Engineering PhD project in fire science focusing on providing a clearer understanding of uncontrolled fires and the conditions that cause them to arise in the wildland urban interface.

Award details

This PhD project in fire science interlinks prevention and protection from wildfire risk, by focusing on providing a clearer understanding of uncontrolled fires and the conditions that cause them to arise in the wildland urban interface. These are a global phenomenon that are becoming more commonplace as changes in moisture and local temperature driven by climate change affect local fuel properties and ecosystems. As we construct more housing and industry in areas that were previously wildlands, the Wildland-Urban Interface becomes more critical as wildfires now affect infrastructure, urban systems and agricultural land. Different vegetation distributions can lead to very different fire spread mechanisms, as well as different effects on structures. In this PhD the research will aim at quantifying some of these mechanisms for different WUI scenarios. The project will likely require a combination of qualitative, quantitative and simulation methods.

You will be part of an active research programme in the Heat and Fire Lab ( https://heatandfire.github.io/ ) in the Department of Engineering under the supervision of Dr Francesco Restuccia . Our group is focused on carrying out experimental and computational multidisciplinary research in the thermal sciences covering heat transfer, combustion, fire science, and bioenergy. Our interests range from helping develop more efficient and durable energy storage to understanding the fundamentals of ignition and fire spread for prevention of damage to people, property, and the environment from unwanted fires in areas such as wildfire and electrification. Our current projects focus on wildfire dynamics, battery fires, thermal management of Lithium-Ion batteries, and ignition research.

The student will be funded by the Leverhulme Centre for Wildfires, Environment and Society ( https://centreforwildfires.org/ ) established in 2019. The Centre comprises engineers, social, and natural scientists from Imperial College, King’s College London, Royal Holloway and University of Reading, working together to create a new, integrative science of wildfire. The student will therefore join a vibrant interdisciplinary research community with a common vision of producing evidence-based understanding of the human-fire nexus that can help inform policy and practice.

Award value

Stipend : The studentship will be funded at UKRI stipend rates paid for 4 years (for 2024/2025 this is £21,237 per annum, including London allowance).

Bench Fees : There will be support funding for experiments and conference attendance.

Tuition fees : Home Fees for three years, and writing-up fees for the final year.
