The department began awarding PhD degrees on a regular basis around 1930, when a formal doctoral program was established as a result of the appointment of Tibor Radó as a professor at our department. To date, the department has awarded over 800 PhD degrees. An average of approximately 15 dissertations per year have been added in recent times.
