How to Write a Speculative Essay

Essay writing is a skill that helps students become more aware and expressive. They learn to follow directions, use their imaginations, formulate narratives and better understand the power of words. Expressing imaginations through different types of essays helps students become more creative and confident. Writing factual essays helps build powers of analysis, observation and discussion. Imaginative essays build students' skills of storytelling and presentation while they learn to experiment with styles and become more efficient with words.

Imaginative Essay Topics

One imaginative essay topics idea is the "leading line" which presents an image that can excite the imagination of the writer into thinking of a complete experience or context. For example, "I woke up in the dark to the sound of footsteps outside my bedroom door... " This line leads to a situation that can develop a scene or a narrative where the writer then imagines and writes down the outcome. The essay can be narrative or descriptive, but the use of imagination in the creation of sounds, visual details and evoking sensations and feelings makes it imaginative writing.

What-If Essays

This type of an essay topic invites the writer to imagine a situation that may or may not be possible, rational or realistic. For example imagining and writing about topics like "What if aliens invade the Earth?" or "What if I win a lottery?" are some options for the "what-if" essay. The writer imagines himself in the situation or context that is presented by the title and writes an imaginative piece detailing the effects or consequences of that experience.

The Single Image

A single image essay involves the writer imagining or looking at a singular image. The writer has to first imaginatively interpret the image itself and then think of a situation or story for the essay. For example, a single image might include "colors" or "the door" or "the box." With these images, the writer first develops an idea or context which can be either descriptive or narrative essay ideas. She then use her imagination to provide details in the essay. It is up to the writer to create a wild, traditional or unexpected essay.

Creative Writing Prompts

Using creative writing prompts to encourage more imaginative writing can include a variety of topics or titles that invite an imaginative interpretation, analysis and description. For example, prompts like "Where would you time travel" or "What will the world look like in a hundred years" invite writing about future, theoretical or hypothetical life that can lead to an imaginative story or description. The purpose with prompts is to take facts and mix them with fiction created purely out of the imagination. The result is an imaginative essay with the open-ended prompt allowing each student to create their own story.

He is earthy, but he possesses heavenly qualities of head and heart. I read in M.R.V. Sr. Sec. School, Delhi. There are 50 teachers in our school. All the teachers are honest and hardworking.

I respect all the teachers. But I like Shri R. Tiwari the most. He is my favourite teacher. He is an ideal teacher. He is a young man of 34 years. He is an M.Sc., B.Ed. He belongs to a noble family. He is very sweet and learned. He teaches us Mathematics. He is our class-incharge.

His way of teaching is very simple. He explains everything very clearly. He is the master of his subject. He develops a taste for reading and writing. He does not beat the weak students. Every student does his homework happily. All the students respect him very much. He has many good habits. He is an early bird. He goes out for a walk daily. He takes exercise regularly. He prays to God daily. He puts on neat and clean clothes. ‘Simple living and high thinking’ is the motto of his life. He is never late for school. He is tall, strong, healthy and handsome. The festival I like Most

Diwali is the most important festival of the Hindus. It means a “row of lamps”. It is a festival of lights. It is one of our most popular festivals. It generally comes off in the last week of October or in the first week of November. The Hindus celebrate this festival in the memory of Shri Ram Chandra’s return to Ayodhya after killing Ravana, the king of Lanka. Great preparations are made before the festival. Houses are cleaned, white-washed and decorated beautifully. Beautiful pictures, photos and calendars are hung in the rooms. Old things are replaced with new ones. The bazaars are over-crowded. The shops are well decorated. There is great rush at the sweets’ and toys’ shops. People buy sweets and toys. They send sweets and presents to their friends and relatives. At night the scene is very beautiful. The bazaars, shops and houses are lit with tiny bulbs. Earthen lamps (Diyas) and candles are in rows on the roofs of houses. Children enjoy fire works and crocker. Children look very happy on this day. The Goddess Laxmi is worshiped at night. But some people gamble on the day to try their luck. It is very bad. It must be stopped. Diwali is a festival of great rejoicings. So it should be celebrated joyfully.

Computer A Wonderful Invention

Computer is one of the wonderful inventions of Sir Charles Babbage who is known as the father of computer. In England Charles Babbage developed a machine to perform complex calculations in1833. The first electronic computer came into existence in 1943. Computer has changed the life style of man. It plays a vital role in every field. In business, computers are used for preparing pay rolls, billing, invoicing, sorting, stock and inventory control etc. Special software packages have been developed which are particularly suitable for commercial and business applications.

In education, computers are used for maintaining records of attendance and fees, for preparing merit lists, date sheets and time tables etc. In banks computers are used for keeping record of each customer and various information such as current balances, deposits, overdrafts, interest charges etc. In hospitals computers are used for maintaining records of drugs, storing, condition of patients, details of tests, clinical reports and for preparing hospital budgets. Computers are used for regulating air, railway, water and surface transportation. Computer is used in the field of education and entertainment. We can see movies on it. We can also use it as a music player. In the coming years man will become totally dependents on the computer. Hence computer is very important for all of us.

If I Win a Lottery Prize

I want to earn money through hard work when I grow up. However, I know how I would use the money if I win a lottery prize, say, of 5 lakh rupees. First, I would give my friends and relatives a tea party. The menu would consist of the choicest sweets. Second, I would buy the best of clothes for my parents, brothers, sisters and myself. Third, I would buy a scooter, for it takes me a lot of time to travel on a cycle. Fourth, I would set up a library of my own. This would consist of the most interesting books for children. The boys and girls of my locality would be free to borrow these books and read them. All this would cost me about thirty thousand rupees.

I would deposit one lakh in a post office under some useful saving scheme. This would yield me the necessary funds for my higher education. Sixth, I would give the remaining amount to my parents so that they may build a house. At present, they do no have enough money to build one. We have been living in rented houses all our lives. Some landlords have been very good while others have been painfully bad. So we feel that there is nothing like having one’s own house. Well all these plans depend upon my winning a lottery prize!

Approaching with flattery, the fox praised the crow’s melodious voice and requested a song. Pleased by the admiration, the crow eagerly opened his beak, and alas, the cheese fell to the ground. Remember, staying united brings strength and harmony.” The sons, realizing the wisdom in their father’s words, pledged to put aside their differences and work together.

One day, the merchant loaded the ass with salt, and as they crossed a stream, the salt melted, making the load lighter. The ass, cleverly noting the change, started intentionally falling into streams. The merchant, oblivious at first, praised the apparent improvement. However, when the merchant loaded the ass with cotton, it didn’t take long for him to realize the trick. The cotton soaked up water and became heavier. The merchant, seeing through the deception, learned not to be fooled by appearances. 

The moral: Clever tricks may work momentarily, but honesty prevails in the end.

Elections have an important place in a democracy. In our country elections are held after every five years. Sometimes there are by-elections and election to the local bodies like Municipality. etc. In the recent Parliamentary elections, our college was a polling station. There was a lot of excitement in the city before the election. The canvassing for the candidates came to an end thirty-six hours before the election. On the day of the election, party workers were busy bringing the voters in vehicles. There were long queues at the polling booth. I also went to cast my vote. Outside the booth, a party worker gave me a slip. My voter number was written on it. Inside the polling booth, an official checked my name and identity. The other gave me the ballot paper and the third put a mark on my finger. Then I went behind a curtain and cast my vote. We went from one hall to the other and had a view of all the exhibits. In one hall there were handicrafts, in the other, there were agricultural implements, in still another, there were sewing and stitching machines, and so on. I was really impressed by the development India has made in the industrial field. This visit proved very useful and informative for me.

Students of all local schools could take part in these competitions. Prizes were given to the winners in painting, cursive writing and intelligence tests in science, maths and general knowledge. The fair was a great success in so far as it aroused the interest of the students to read good and useful books.

  Last Sunday, there was an accident in our city. A bus collided with a truck. Six bits passengers died at once. More than twenty passengers were wounded. Ten of them were in a serious condition. I was passing by that area when the accident occurred. I at once decided to help the injured passengers. I stopped the taxis transfusion. Unluckily the blood was not available in the hospital. So I shed to my school. I talked to my friends and told them about the accident. Within a few minutes, seven boys need to donate blood. We all rushed to the hospital. We told the doctor to take our blood. Our blood was even to the seriously injured passengers and their lives were saved.

A crowded Indian market presents an interesting scene. There is a lot of hustle and bustle. There are all kinds of shops in a crowded Indian market. The rush increases in the evening. The maximum number of customers can be found in the shops selling cloth or the ladies’ items. Most of these customers are ladies. They purchase cloth of the late st fashion or the items of their make up like powder, Lipstick, hair oil, etc. Some shopkeepers do not have regular shops. They sell their wares on the footpath. They also attract a large number of customers because their goods are cheaper than those sold in the shops. But often the quality of their goods is not good. Their goods also have no guarantee. Sometimes they cheat their customers. Hawkers can also be seen in a busy market. They sell their things on rehris or on their heads. There are some wayside restaurants or eating places. You can see big crowds there also. Thus a busy Indian market presents a colourful scene.

Write a Paragraph on :  A CUP OF TEA

Preparing a cup of tea is also an art. One has to mix the parts in a proper way. For making a cup of tea, first, pour some water in a pan and put it on the stove. Let the water boil for some time. In the meantime put tea leaves into a kettle. Put one spoonful of tea leaves for each cup. When the water in the pan starts boiling, put it into the kettle. Wait for two to three minutes. At the same time, boil some milk separately. The tea in the kettle is ready. Serve it to your friends. Every one of them can put r1k and sugar according to their own tastes. This is the best method of making tea. Some persons boil water, tea leaves, sugar and milk together. Tea prepared in this way loses its flavour.

In the morning, the air is fresh, the scene is beautiful, I go for a morning walk daily. I get up at 5 o’clock. Then I call on my friend Sunil. Both of us go for a walk together. We go outside the city. We go to the canal. On the way, we see many people. Some people are going for a morning walk. Some farmers are going to their fields. After half an hour we reach the canal. There the scene is very beautiful. There are fields on both sides of the canal. The birds are chirping. We walk along the bank of the canal. We also take sonic exercise. We come back after one hour. The morning walk makes our bodies and minds fresh. It fills us with new energy.

Because he does no wrong, he is fearless and always holds his head high. An ideal citizen is law-abiding and has respect for the rights of his fellow-citizens. At night people burn candles and earthen lamps on the roofs. The scene is very beautiful. Some had persons drink and gamble on this day. This is a bad habit. This should be stopped.

  Last Sunday, we went on a picnic. We went to Badkhal Lake. This lake is situated near Faridabad. This is a natural lake among rocks. It is very deep and wide. The Haryana government has developed the lake and the area around it into a fine picnic spot. I went to the lake with my friends. There is the facility of boating. We took three boats and did a lot of boating on the lake. One of my friends had a good camera with him. He took our snaps in various poses. There is a very good restaurant on the bank of this lake. This is run by the tourist department of Haryana government. At noon we took our meals at the restaurant. Then we took rest on the lawns. A friend of mine sang songs. I sang a ghazal. After some time we took a walk around the lake. In the evening we came back. I will never forget that pleasant picnic on the banks of Badkhal Lake.

Yesterday my nephew asked me to buy a toy for him. l took him to a big and famous toy shop in our city. There were all kinds of toys in the shop. The shop had many sections and there were different types of toys in each section. In one section there were toys for very small children or infants. These were the toys which produced musical sounds on shaking them. Some of these moved when they were wound. One section of the shop had toy animals. There were teddy bears, small horses, dogs, camels and other toy animals. Another section sold costly electronic toys. These toys operated with a battery. There was a railway engine which gave a whistle, threw light and moved very fast when operated. The main feature of this engine was its electronic eye. If there was a bather on the way, the engine automatically turned to the left. I purchased a few toys for my nephew and came out.

Last month, I celebrated my 16th birthday. It was celebrated with pomp and show. The big drawing room of our house was decorated beautifully. My father had invited all his close friends. I had invited all my class-fellows. Many families from our colony were invited. The birthday cake was big and beautifully made. Sixteen candles were put on it. These candles showed that it was my sixteenth birthday. I touched the feet of my parents and received their blessings. Then I blew out the sixteen candles one by one. All the guests shouted with joy, “Happy birthday to you.” Then I cut the birthday cake and distributed its small pieces among the guests. I got beautiful presents from my near and dear ones. My father had arranged an orchestra for this purpose. It presented a very good programme of music. In the end, the guests were given dinner. I will never forget my sixteenth birthday.

Story writing is an art. It is the oldest form of written composition. It is a work of imagination that is written in easily understandable grammatical structure. a short story is meant to be read in a single sitting and therefore it should be as direct and brief as possible.

Main point related to story writing

  • Title: the title of the story must be interesting and it should evoke curiosity.
  • Planned and logical series of events must be reflected and the events should not deviate the story from its theme.
  • There must be an interesting theme of the story which is the controlling idea of the story.
  • The depiction of the characters must be interesting and convincing.
  • Language of the story must suit the story. It should be as per the setting of the story.

The Lion’s Share

Answer: Once a bear, a wolf and a fox went hunting under the leadership of a lion. Very soon they caught and killed a buffalo. The fox divide the buffalo into four parts. The animals were eagerly waiting to eat their shares.

Imaginative writing, also known as creative writing: This form of writing expresses the writer’s thoughts and feelings in an imaginative, often unique, and poetic way. Imaginative writing can exist in many different forms, but what unites them all is that the writer is free to use their own ideas and imagination. Imaginative writing is also known as Creative writing .

Here are Some Instances of Imaginative Writing:

The topic like the feelings and experiences of the sailor wrecked on the vast sea is imaginative writing . In these types of writing, the writer places himself in imagination in a position in which he doesn’t have any actual experience of that type.

Topics like “If I Were the prime minister” or “The Autobiography of a Horse” also fall under the category of imaginative writings/essays.

Writings are usually divided into two basic types:

  • Imaginative/ Creative

Creative writing revolves around imagination, artistic skills, and the ability to figure out situations that are far from reality.

The main goal of imaginative essays/writings is to make the reader enjoy them in an aesthetic sense. The aim of logical writing/essays is to discuss an issue or solve a definite problem.

STEP 5. Incorporate a Message

Incorporate a message in imaginative writing. It is not necessary to have a clear message in imaginative writing but some sort of indication of the theme would be preferable.

Step 6. Use of Figures of Speech in Imaginative Writing

The use of metaphors , allegories, similes , and other figures of speech will make the writing more creative. Using simplistic language is not advisable in your imaginative writing. On the other hand, the exquisite style always attracts more readers.

STEP 7. Read Aloud and Revise

Read aloud your imaginative writing to identify the vagueness in your writing. Revise your writing in order to have a better style and grammar. It is not recommended. However, at this stage, changing the contents of the writing may affect its quality. In order to write this type, you need lots of imagination and creativity.

  • Emotional Appeal

All writings possess emotional appeal. Nevertheless, it’s the main goal of creative writing. It makes the reader more involved and enthusiastic in the situation of the story or paragraphs.

Part of what makes imaginative writing creative is the way you choose to craft the vision in your mind. The use of anecdotes, metaphors, similes, figures of speech, and other figurative language in order to bring an effect of a vivid image in the reader’s mind.

  • Proofreading and revision
