500 Words Essay on My Favourite Subject

As a student, everyone excels in some subjects and not in the others. Of course, there are some students who do well in all of them, but that number is low. However, almost every student has a favourite subject. It does not matter if it’s related to academics or arts.

Essay on My Favourite Subject

Personally, my favorite subject is English. I have always scored well on the subject because I understand it well. It makes learning effortless and I always manage to get good marks. There are other subjects I like too but English definitely tops my list. I never get bored of it and am always ready to study it.

Reason For Favouritism

There are many reasons as to why I enjoy studying English. The major one is that it enhances my reading skills. Ever since my childhood, my mother has always read stories to me. So, I developed a habit of reading and listening to stories. As my reading skills get polished through English, it helps me in other subjects too. I grasp the concepts better through reading.

Furthermore, through English, I developed a knack for writing. I absolutely enjoy writing essays and articles. It is only through English, that I started writing my own work. This helps me in forming incredible answers for other subjects as well. It gives me the experience to use accurate words and sentences to convey my message better.

Most importantly, I love fictional stories in English. I love how it always has some lessons in them to learn. They also apply in real life and help me make wise decisions. The stories in English novels and plays always keeps me entertained. It also enhances my imagination powers.

A Scoring Subject

English is definitely a scoring subject which makes it even more special for me. I am an average student who does not take much interest in Science. I manage to get decent marks in the subjects, but in English, I score well. When we compare English to other subjects, we see it is most scoring.

English does not demand word to word answers. It gives the child a chance to play with words. It gives them the creative liberty to speak their minds out. For instance, in Maths, you cannot create your own formulas. You must copy the same exact one taught in the syllabus. But, in English, we can compose our own answers based on our understanding and intelligence.

In addition, English teachers are usually more approachable and understanding. In other subjects, the teachers always have to stick by the book and literally make students mug up the formulas and theories. The English teacher takes time to make them understand each phrase. They allow the students to interpret it as per their intellect. This empowers the child too so they can put their own thinking in it.

In short, I absolutely love English. It gives me the chance to excel without putting too much pressure on me. I get to play with words and form my own interpretations. This helps me get the creative freedom I do not get in other subjects.

Long Essay on My Favourite Subject 600 Words in English

My Favourite Subject Essay is usually given to classes 7, 8, 9, and 10.

My favourite subject at school is physics. Being one of the toughest subjects of all, I always prefer studying for physics than any other subject because of the fact that it is challenging, interesting and helps me build my career as a physicist. My inspiration to become a theoretical physicist is Albert Einstein. A not so academically inclined student from a humble background who went on to change the way we see the world is what inspires me. There various other people in the field of physics who has been my inspiration to become a scientist, some of them are CV Raman, Isaac Newton, Thomas Alva Edison, Nikola Tesla and most recently and the most popular scientists of all, Steven Hawking.

I consider these people as my source of inspiration because they have dedicated their entire lives for science and have discovered many things that have helped this world become a better place. From inventing the atomic bomb to discovering a black hole in the universe, physicists and scientists studying it know no bounds.

I particularly love physics because of the real-life impacts it has on our lives. Science is the only subject that has the potential to solve many problems in the world like water problem, climate change, distress and medical problems. Given the gravity of the impact that science has on our lives, I could not turn my eyes away from studying it. I specifically fell in love with physics in the branch of science because it includes the aspects of both mathematics and chemistry, my other two favourite subjects in school.

I always happen to score well in these subjects because I love studying them and no one has to force me into studying. I find subjects like geography or history boring and I would rather study physics on my own than being forced to study other subjects like civics, history or moral science. I understand that our education system is designed such that all subjects, irrespective of whether we like it or not, are stuffed into our brains. I study other subjects only to pass and get a good overall grade, but ultimately the main subject I’ll be studying in under graduation and post-graduation is physics.

The only reason I study other subjects is to score good overall grades because I want to do further studies in the field of physics at Harvard University. And to get into this university, my overall grade in school should be good. It’s not only about grades, this university looks into our extracurricular and co-curricular activities as well as a part of the admission process. Being only a book worm will not get me into this prestigious university. I should be an all-rounded achiever in all spectrums such as sports, arts and culture. I participate in my school sports activities and have won a few awards. I also take acting lessons in mime because I find it interesting.

Other than physics,  I love chemistry, maths and to a certain extent biology. Infact, my parents want me to become a doctor which means biology should have been my subject of interest. Although I love the subject and also love the job of the doctor, I believe a scientist plays a greater role in shaping our society than any other professionals.

Short Essay on My Favourite Subject 200 Words in English

My Favourite Subject Essay is usually given to classes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6.

My favourite subject is physics. Physics is perceived by my friends as the toughest subject of all as it is an amalgamation of maths and chemistry. But I happen to love physics mainly because of the broad everyday impact it has on society. Since I happen to like the subject, I’m good at it and usually score well and better than my classmates. As a result of which, I am almost like a tutor to my friends during physics examination time. Albert Einstein and Steven Hawking are two of my greatest role models in life. Other than being legendary theoretical physicists and having achieved great steps in their own field, they are a true inspiration with respect to their personal lives as well. While Albert Einstein having faced the difficulties and atrocities during the World War, especially having born in a humble family, went on to discover the theory of relativity in spite of all the hardships.

This is what makes Albert Einstein the greatest scientists of all time. And the thing about another widely popular scientist, Steven Hawking is much more inspirational than other scientists. Being a differently-abled person, and having stuck on a wheelchair for years, he discovered a black hole on the universe which has cascading effects on other inventions and our understanding of the universe. I want to grow up to be like them and make a worthwhile contribution to the field of physics. I aspire to study at top institutions in the world such as Harvard, CalTech and Princeton University. I one daydream of winning the Nobel Prize for physics.

Essay on My Favourite Subject

We start school. We are introduced to many subjects. There are some subjects that we are scared of. There are some subjects that we are comfortable with. And then there is that one subject that is closer to our heart. For me, that is science or Physics, as some may call it.

Why do I like Physics?

We live in this world. I believe everything that happens in this world has a ‘why’ behind it. I love to find the ‘why’ behind things. And Physics helps me do just that. Years ago, a man questioned why things fall down and do not go up. He did not stop till he uncovered the truth that there happens to be forced within the celestial bodies that attract things. That man was Isaac Newton. And no, there was no internet or even authoritative books on Physics back then. He realised the fact by using his brain and the little prior research of others that was available to him. This is the beauty of Physics. A sharp mind is all that is needed to question the phenomena of nature.

Another reason that Physics is my favourite subject is the fact that it requires very little rote learning. One has to understand the basic theory behind anything that pertains to science. If I want to know why the sky is blue, I do not need to memorise anything. My teachers just have to tell me that the blue part of the sunlight is scattered more by the molecules in the air through which the sunlight passes. If I understand this cause and effect relation correctly, I will not forget it.

I also love science because it helps the poor. Earlier, a farmer had to work hard to grow crops, but now with advanced tractors and other scientific tools, he can grow the same amount of crops doing much less work.

Importance of Physics in our Life

Without our knowledge in science or Physics, we would still be living like cavemen. From the discovery of fire to the invention of wheels - everything happened thanks to our innate love for science; what if an unconscious one. Science can be the synonym for progress. No science, no progress. Every modern electronic equipment - from computers to rockets, from mobiles to street lights - everything needs electricity. And this electricity is also a gift of science!

The beauty of science is it starts from the basics and then it builds up to focus on the more advanced aspects. When Newton discovered gravity, he first thought about why things fall down. However, he soon used the same theory of gravity to reveal that it is the gravitational attraction of the Earth that prevented the moon from straying away from its orbit.

My Favorite Subject Essay

The students can present this essay in different ways depending on which subject they like; some ways to write a good essay is provided below.

English has been my favourite subject since the beginning of my studious life. I have always enjoyed reading, writing, and researching about the many concepts that occurred to me. Reading and understanding English literature has developed not just my critical thinking skills but has also helped in my overall character development. It has made me humble and knowledgeable about various universal concepts that not everyone is conscious of. Studying English literature makes me perceive the world in a manner that is way different from others.

Not to mention that English literature is a vast field having innumerable career opportunities. There are many things to choose from, such as becoming an editor, a writer, a content marketer, a researcher, and the list goes on. English allows me to think creatively, out of the box, or allows me to create something new whilst staying in the box; it increases my communication skills and enables me to interpret things according to my own terms. Hence, I love the subject and cherish the values that stay with me while studying English literature.

Mathematics

My favourite subject is mathematics; since the beginning of my school life, I have always enjoyed solving mathematical equations. I love the subject, also because I always excel in my class, making my mathematics teacher and parents proud. When I am solving mathematical problems, I feel like my brain is getting a much-needed exercise as compared to other subjects, which I find a little burdensome because they require a lot of memorising as they are mostly theory. I have always been good with numbers and I love to manipulate and play with numbers.

After continuously studying and solving mathematical equations for a period of time, I can feel the improvements I have made in other subjects as well. This is because solving mathematical equations has improved my thinking critical and analytical skills, which are extremely important skills that one should possess. I love solving all arithmetic operations on numbers and I am always keen on handling more difficult problems as they help me realise my potential. When I grow up, I aspire to be a mathematician and maybe discover new theories or formulas and contribute my findings to this field.

Science is one of my favourite subjects in school, nowadays science and technology go hand-in-hand as there is no technology without science and there is no science without technology. Today we are surrounded by various things that have a scientific explanation of existing or behaving in a particular way. For example, the friction between our shoes and the floor, there is a science behind the flying of birds, the running water that we get in our taps, the concepts of dawn and dusk are also part of science that is taught in this discipline in schools.

I have always been curious to know about how certain things are happening around me and therefore studying science soothes my curiosity. Studying scientific theories help me reach a logical explanation of every incident that I observe in my day to day life.

There has been a lot of advancements that have taken place in the field of science in recent years such as, In 2020, scientists found plastic-eating bacteria, they have found ways to produce snow by cloud seeding, some of the scientific studies show that around the year 2070 we will experience and unliveable heat if we go on exploiting and destroying nature, even the covid vaccinations are a product of extensive research in science that has saved innumerable people on earth from the threat of covid-19.

Scientific advancement is extremely important for human life to grow technologically. However, we have to keep in check about the disadvantages that it is causing, such as global warming and various global threats that surround us today, because we have not been vigilant about our use of certain resources. Scientific study can also help us live in an eco-friendly manner.

I would love to become a scientist when I grow up as I want to help scientists achieve a permanently eco-friendly way of living that can help save the world.

Science-related subjects are not just about dealing with dry theories and reasons behind natural matters and events. Such subjects have taught me the value of truth. No matter how hard my elders tried, I would not have understood the value of truth without science. Galileo Galilei could have accepted the Church’s theory of the Earth’s immovability. But he did not. He chose to embrace death rather than live with a lie. I hate darkness. It is with the help of science that I can move from darkness to light - literally and figuratively. Some people enjoy languages like English and Hindi and so on, and when focused, they go on to become scholars of their own field.

Lines that can help students write an extraordinary essay are as follows-

Explaining your favourite subject – for example – all subjects hold a significant value and help in the all-round development of the brain as well as character, but I find my favourite subject specifically interesting as I never get bored studying it.

Write about your favourite teachers who make studying fun and easy.

Write about how it helps you outside academics or how you can apply it in day to day life.

If history is your favourite subject, you can frame your essay as – history helps me reminisce about my country’s past. After reading about great rulers and emperors, I get a deep sense of patriotism which makes me fall more in love with my country and heritage.

Write about the specialities of your favourite subject and how it drives you to do better.

I have always had a passion for reading. I was the child that co,uld not be found without a book pressed up against her nose. I was never the biggest, strongest, or the most athletically inclined student. With a book in hand I could become anyone I wanted to be, there were no limits to my abilities. To me, every day was a new adventure. As a small child, I could become a fearless pirate, a beautiful mermaid, or a terrifying giant barging through the clouds. (This was a favorite adventure of mine as I stand just less than five feet tall.) The authors of these titles felt like friends more than narrators.

Recess may have excited the other children in my classes, but I was more likely to find a shady spot and sit with a friend and read. The smell of a library excited me more than the scent of outdoors. I would never skip an opportunity to escape real life, even if it were just for a moment. I believe this appreciation of fictional literature drove me to my love of English.

My fascination with reading literature propelled me to a love of writing as well. I envied the artistry that I found in others’ writings. I wanted to be able to evoke the same emotions into individuals as other authors had done for me time after time. When assigned short stories to write, I manifested this idea into every work. I tried to impress others with my ability to dream up wild stories and transcribe them to paper. Seeing the interest of others in what I had to write fueled my appetite to create stories. Now if I was not reading, I was writing; I became infatuated with the use of words and grammar. Never was I satisfied with an ordinary word - I would search fervently through thesauruses to find the exact word I needed. It had to make my reader exhibit the emotion and mental picture I wanted them to have. The fair maiden of my tale would not just be beautiful. She would be “magnificent” or “radiate elegance from her every pore.” A knight would not be brave; he would be “valiant, and audacious!”

I have not gotten this far on passion alone. I have had so many great teachers along the way who have encouraged everything I do. These teachers have pushed me past the curriculum and encouraged me to read novels that may seem daunting. They challenge me to push myself past the level of expectations that I held for myself. I have learned that if it is not challenging me, then I am not getting any better. With this mind set, I have been able to excel in this subject. Watching an instructor’s eyes light up when discussing an author or literary subject has helped pave a path of success for me. It has helped me to become the student I am today. Seeing the passion in others reinforces my appreciation of the subject. These teachers were the ones who encouraged me to compete in UIL Spelling and Vocabulary.

At my school, I have had the honor of serving in a club that is an advocate for spreading literacy to children. Our school’s Interact Club partners with our local Rotary Club to participate in The Green Bus Project. We have converted a donated bus into a kid friendly mobile library. This bus contains shelves and shelves of books providing a positive atmosphere to children who may not have much access to literature, especially during the summer months. This brightly colored bus travels to low-income neighborhoods offering stories and sack lunches to children who otherwise might not receive food while not at school. I do not just enjoy helping the children, but it also gives me an opportunity to share with them what I love. I can offer advice on which books to read that I read when I was in elementary. I can select my favorite stories to read aloud to the group. Our hope is to spark a love of literature into younger generations. This has become my favorite of the service projects I do in school because I can connect to this on a personal level. Seeing the same excitement on a child’s face that I had also felt, made every Saturday I spent with them beyond worth it. Nothing compares to sharing your passion with young spirits.

A love of English is a journey. English is the core of our ability to communicate from individual to individual. This subject has taught me countless skills and has helped me to become an analytically minded person. This varies my perspective on issues, and allows me to form new opinions. English has been able to flourish my overall growth as a young person. It has showed me the many points of views, ideas, and beliefs of the everyday man. Studying more about Shakespeare, Jane Austen, Mark Twain, and Geoffrey Chaucer has given me an insight into human nature. The amount this subject has taught me is endless and it opens up gateways to all others subjects. With such great teachers as role models and amazing adventures at my disposal I doubt I will ever lose my passion for literature.

As our academic life starts, we get introduced to many subjects like humanities, science, and more. While only a handful of students get good grades in all of those subjects, most students get good grades in their favourite subjects. Indeed we score better in our favourite subjects however there is more to a favourite subject than just making a good score. A favourite subject is one that we enjoy studying. In this essay, I have discussed my favourite subjects.

A Favourite Book

A favourite subject does not necessarily have to be a very priority for everyone. It can be any subject and be your favourite for personal reasons. It can be any science subject or humanities. Different students in my class have different favourite books of their own. Some of them love to read Physics, while some are into Geography or Biology. Personally, I love reading English, it is my favourite subject for some obvious reason.

My Favourite Subject English

My love for English bloomed at a very early age when I had an illustrated picture book of fairytales. My mother used to read me stories from that book. That is how I fell in love with this book. When I learned to read, I used to read short rhymes and poems from any English book I could get my hands on. Soon, I developed an interest in learning more about this subject. I remember spending long hours practising grammar and solving different grammatical problems.

Also,  my love for English opened a whole new chapter for learning different other subjects. The best books and study materials are always written in English, and knowing this language opens up a vast world of learning other things. Learning English helped me increase my skills of comprehension. With each book I read, I learn more, and my vocabulary becomes polished.

English is my favourite subject also because  I want to be a writer. There are so many books in the world, and they make me feel inspired by their different narrative styles, writing techniques and information. I enjoy writing short essays and articles, and I decided to become a writer when I grew up. I feel fascinated by short stories, poems, and fiction. In future, I want to have my own book of stories to be published.

That is why it is very important for me to learn more about this language. Being a writer easier said than done. I try to be very careful about each word I use for each expression. I still have a lot more to learn about this language and English literature before I feel confident about writing anything. But until then, I want to keep learning.

Conclusion

In conclusion, I not only love reading English, but I have also been the highest scorer in English in my class. Of course, I am not the best scorer in all the subjects. But, having a good grasp of English has also helped me score decently in other subjects as well. My love for my favourite subject will never reduce. It will grow with me as I grow older and learn more.

Essay on My Favourite Subject | For Students

In the world of learning, there’s one subject that stands out for me, shining like a beacon of curiosity and inspiration. That subject is science, and in this essay, I will argue why it’s my favorite subject. Science is not just a school subject; it’s a key that unlocks the secrets of the universe, a window into the wonders of our world.

Exploration and Discovery

Science is all about exploration and discovery. It’s like going on an adventure every day, where you’re the explorer, and the world is your playground. According to the National Science Teachers Association, science helps us understand how things work and allows us to make sense of the world around us. I love the feeling of uncovering new facts and asking questions like a detective on a mission.

Hands-On Learning

What makes science even more exciting is that it’s hands-on. We get to conduct experiments, mix chemicals, observe reactions, and build models. These experiences help us learn by doing, which research from the National Research Council suggests is one of the most effective ways to understand and remember information. When I’m in the science lab, I feel like a real scientist, making discoveries and solving mysteries.

Real-World Applications

Science is not just a subject confined to the classroom; it has real-world applications that impact our lives every day. Take the field of medicine, for example. Doctors use scientific knowledge to diagnose and treat illnesses, improving our health and well-being. According to the World Health Organization, advances in medical science have led to longer and healthier lives. Learning about these practical applications of science makes me feel like I’m learning something that truly matters.

Solving Puzzles

Science is like a giant puzzle, with pieces waiting to be put together. Every experiment, every equation, and every observation are pieces of that puzzle. When we solve a science problem, it’s like finding the missing piece and watching the whole picture come together. The feeling of accomplishment and understanding is truly rewarding. A study in the journal “Learning and Instruction” suggests that problem-solving in science improves critical thinking skills and enhances overall cognitive development.

The Beauty of Nature

Science allows us to appreciate the beauty of nature in a whole new way. Whether it’s understanding the colors of a rainbow or the intricate patterns of a snowflake, science helps us see the world’s beauty through a scientific lens. The American Psychological Association suggests that appreciating nature has numerous mental and emotional benefits. I’ve learned to see the magic in everyday things, like the way a leaf changes color in the fall or the way a flower blooms in the spring.

Inspiring Role Models

In the realm of science, numerous inspiring role models have made remarkable discoveries, altering the course of history. For instance, individuals such as Marie Curie, Albert Einstein, and Jane Goodall have demonstrated the potency of curiosity and unwavering determination. Consequently, their stories serve as a poignant reminder that regardless of one’s background, it is possible to create a significant impact on the world through science. Consequently, gaining insights into the lives of these role models serves as a strong motivator for me to pursue my own scientific aspirations.

Global Impact

Science extends beyond our immediate surroundings; moreover, it holds a global influence. Furthermore, scientists from various nations unite to tackle critical global problems, ranging from climate change to disease outbreaks. According to the United Nations, international collaboration in science is indispensable for addressing worldwide challenges. Consequently, recognizing that my beloved subject possesses the capacity to create a constructive influence on the world motivates me to continue my journey of learning and exploration

Conclusion of Essay on My Favourite Subject

In conclusion, science is my favorite subject because it offers endless opportunities for exploration, hands-on learning, and discovery. It has real-world applications that improve our lives, and it allows me to solve puzzles and appreciate the beauty of nature in a whole new way. Science also introduces me to inspiring role models and reminds me of the global impact that knowledge and curiosity can have.

As I continue my journey in the fascinating world of science, I am excited about the mysteries I have yet to unravel and the discoveries I have yet to make. Science isn’t just a subject; it’s a lifelong adventure, a journey of curiosity, and a path to understanding the world and our place in it. So, for me, science will always be more than just a subject; it’s a passion, a way of thinking, and a source of endless wonder.

Essay on My Favourite Subject (200 & 500 Words)

Out of all the subjects I study in school, my favorite by far is history. I love learning about the past – the people, the cultures, the events that have shaped our world. History class is like going on an epic adventure through time. We get to examine ancient civilizations, study influential leaders, and understand major events like wars and revolutions.

I enjoy seeing how the past sets the stage for today and how learning history gives us a better vision of our future. While math and science teach practical skills, history opens my mind. It shows how human nature stays the same across centuries and cultures. Studying the complex, real-life stories of the past is endlessly fascinating to me.

I always look forward to my history class each day. Whether we dive into medieval Europe, examine the American Revolution, or learn about ancient Greece, I am engaged. For me, history is not just about memorizing dates and facts. It comes alive with debates, projects, movies, field trips to museums, and more. I hope to one day turn my passion for the past into a career as a teacher, professor, or museum curator. That is why history is my absolute favorite subject in school.

Essay on My Favourite Subject (200 Words)

My favourite subject in school is science. I find science very interesting because we get to do lots of cool experiments. In science class, we learn about many different topics like the human body, animals, plants, chemistry, physics, and more. Doing experiments and projects helps me understand the concepts we learn about better.

For example, when we were learning about density, we did an experiment where we had to figure out which objects would sink or float when placed in water. We made predictions and then tested different items like coins, marbles, blocks of wood, etc. It was fun to see how some objects floated even though they were made of metal or looked heavy. The concepts we learn in science help explain the world around us.

Another reason I love science is because I want to be a doctor when I grow up. By learning about the human body and health in science class, it helps me understand more about the career I want. We get to dissect animals like frogs and look at cells under microscopes. Seeing real body parts up close instead of just reading about them is very cool.

Overall, science is hands down my favourite subject. It is never boring even though we have to learn challenging concepts sometimes. I always look forward to my next science class and discovering new things. The experiments and activities we do are enjoyable and help reinforce what we learn. Science is useful for many careers like engineering, technology, and of course healthcare. I hope I can continue taking interesting science classes all through high school and college.

Essay on My Favourite Subject (500 Words)

Introduction.

My favourite subject in school is science. Science covers many different topics like biology, chemistry, physics, earth science, and more. Doing fun experiments, hands-on projects, and learning how the world works makes science really enjoyable for me. In this essay, I will explain why science is my favourite subject by talking about the interesting concepts we study, the labs and activities we do, and how science helps prepare me for my future career goals.

Why I Love Science

One of the main reasons I love science so much is because of the fascinating things we get to study. In science, we don’t just read textbooks and answer questions on worksheets. We get to dive deep into topics that explain how our world and universe function. For example, in chemistry, we learn about atoms, molecules, the periodic table, and how different substances interact with each other. When studying biology, we get to explore living organisms like plants, animals, and the human body down to the tiniest cells. Physics teaches us the laws of motion, energy, gravity, and more by doing hands-on experiments. Earth science covers topics like weather, climate, geology, and astronomy. No matter what branch of science we are learning, I am always amazed by the cool facts we discover. Science gives answers to so many questions about how and why things work the way they do in our natural world.

My Favourite Experiments and Activities

Another big reason I find science so enjoyable is because of the fun lab experiments and activities we get to do. Science isn’t just memorizing definitions from a textbook. We get to actually put concepts into action through different projects. My favorite lab this year was when we built miniature rollercoasters to demonstrate the principles of potential and kinetic energy as well as gravity. It was awesome seeing the marbles loop through the twists and turns of the coaster models my group built. Other fun hands-on activities in science include dissecting frogs to see their organs, mixing chemicals to produce reactions, building volcanoes or rockets, and so much more. The interactive learning we do in science class brings textbook principles to life. I look forward to coming to science because I know I’ll get to do something exciting besides just worksheets. The labs give me a deeper grasp on concepts instead of just memorizing facts.

How Science Relates to My Future

The last reason I love science so much is because it relates closely to my own career goals. My dream is to become a doctor when I grow up. By learning about biology, chemistry, the human body, and other science topics, it helps prepare me for a future in the medical field. When we study cells and DNA, it helps me understand more about genetics and disease. Our body system units teach me how the heart, lungs, brain, and other organs function to keep us alive. Knowing how the natural world works from physics, earth science, and chemistry also gives me a well-rounded science background. All these concepts we explore help build scientific literacy that I will rely on as a medical professional. Though it will take many more years of difficult training, my science classes today are giving me the foundation I need to reach my dream of becoming a pediatrician and helping kids stay healthy.

Science is definitely my favorite subject because of the captivating concepts we study, the fun hands-on learning activities, and its real-life applications to my future career in medicine. Science teaches me problem-solving skills I will use throughout life. I am grateful for all the inspiring science teachers I have had over the years who have fueled my curiosity about how the world works. Their passion for science has gotten me excited to keep discovering new things. I look forward to many more years of exploring fascinating science subjects.

Or the one about how tilak, in the school he had not thrown peanut shells on the floor. Or the one of how Vallabhbhai Patel took a hot iron to burn a boil under his armpit. These stories show me how brave and truthful these great leaders were, even as children. Many of my friends complain that history is a very dull and hard subject. Thankfully, it isn’t for me. It shall always be my one and only favourite subject.

My Favourite Subject is Maths

Many student fears to Maths subject, I was among them only. Once I failed in the Mathematics, I was depressed. My friends start making fun of me.

I was lucky that my mother was a Maths Teacher, she always prompts me that, Rahul lets ply with maths, but I didn’t take that seriously.

When I told, my mother that I have failed in maths subject, she got shocked. But thankfully, she didn’t shout at me, instead of that she give me an inspirational speech.

Later on she start teaching me Mathematics, she taught me to play with maths and really I enjoyed a lot, from that day Maths became my favourite subject.

I score out of marks in this subject. Now I also teach those friends who really fear to Maths. They have set a mentality of that maths subject is very difficult and it has hell lot of formula to remember.

But my mother taught me maths in fun way; I used that technique to solve the problem. Now I generally search for problem to solve them. From this my confidence level has increase and I’m happy that most difficult subject has become a game for me.

Becoming engineer is my ambition, and in Engineering there are hell lots of complex problem, so I wish it will be easy for me.

My Favourite Subject is Science

My favourite subject in school is Science. It is my favourite subject because I never face any problem while learning it and it came easy to me. I always score good marks in my science test.

According to me, everything that surrounds us is science. Everything that we use someway or somehow is made by science. Science is nothing but discovering something new and then find what it can be capable of and where it can fit in use.

Other subject like mathematics has many formulae and every step in solving problem is done logically. Remembering the formulas and other facts is hard work compared to the ease and simplicity of science. Although it requires a lot of memory work but I never have any difficulty.

While science is simple to me, some of my friends finds it difficult. They often get stuck and give up, so I try to help them out.

The one advantage that I have in being good in science I study regularly and do my homework on time. I prepare some test paper on my own to test my skills. This way I don’t have to spend more time on it and I get enough time to study other subjects as well.

Today science has taken us to a new level, from fast computers to smartphones and it has been a huge breakthrough in science.

Science is both physics and chemistry. In science of chemistry, various elements are discovered and these elements are used in chemical bonding. In physics, there are many discovered laws and properties.

I have come to realize that every person has their own ability. If a person is good in something it is not necessary that he/she would be good in everything. If you’re good in something than don’t make fun others who are not, instead try to help them.

My Favourite Subject is English

English is my favourite subject, because I have never faced any problem to achieve good marks. My teacher Mrs. Leena helps me a lot to improve my grammar.

Earlier, English subject was not my favourite, but once I failed in this subject. I got depressed, but my mother as well as my teacher boost my confidence and help me a lot.

Today I feel English is such a wonderful subject, if you can speak and understand English then you can sustain in any part of the countries.

I feel like gentleman, whenever I speak in English.  One way you can improve your vocabulary, by reading hell lot of good books.

I help my friends when they stuck to any difficulty.  Nowadays I search for good English Novel to read and improve my language.

Really English subject is an easy subject, if you have interest in reading and improving.

I am trying to answer the question; What is your favourite academic subject? Describe the subject and explain why you like to study it The book Houghton Mifflin English 2006 printed in the USA. It has illustrations and photographs . What is the level of this book ? It says that is for kids but it can be used for adults. It has written, listening speaking and viewing . The word viewing is new for kids but for adults is not used. It includes: narrating and entertaining writing a story , explaining and informing , writing a research paper, writing to express an opinion , writing to persuade , tools and tips, writing process, write a description , but there is prewriting where you choose a topic, explore it and organize it, writing a working draft revising proofreading and publishing. It is for fourth graders.

The leaves sway in the direction in which the wind blows. I find observing these little things very interesting. I can study Science for a long time without getting bored. It is amazing to see the effects of the law of gravity in so many places. For example, when it rains, the raindrops fall from the sky, hit the ground, and do not keep floating in the air. When we throw a ball, it comes down. It happens because of the gravitational force. I think of great scientists whenever I study this subject. We did a science project in school, and I was amazed to learn how life evolved on this planet from a single cell called the amoeba. We did another project where we used a string to outline the cell, and then we stuck different pulses with glue to mark the inside. I love doing science projects we get in school. I look forward to the science class out of all the other classes on my timetable. Our science teacher guides us on how to do these assignments. At home, my mother helps me while I do the projects. Essay on my favorite subject

Essay on my favorite subject: A Guide to Academic and Professional Success

Identifying our favorite subjects is crucial as it sets the trajectory for our academic and professional paths. Our preferred subjects serve as indicators of our inherent aptitudes, and pursuing higher education in these fields often leads to remarkable success.

  • Essay on my favorite subject

Academic interests vary greatly from one student to another. Some students prefer to study scientific subjects such as physics, chemistry, and biology, while others prefer to study literature, poetry, and languages, and still others prefer to study mathematics and statistics. There are also those who prefer to study history and geography.

This great diversity in subjects allows each student to study their favorite subjects. In an essay about my favorite subject, we will explain the importance of specialization in study. The philosopher Cicero said: “Knowledge is an art, but teaching is another art in itself.”

One of my favorite subjects is mathematics. I excel in it greatly, and I always get the highest grades in math exams. I prefer it because it is a subject that requires a lot of thinking, it develops the mind, and it contains many theories and concepts that are used in industry or architecture or other practical fields.

When I study mathematics, I feel a great challenge, because this subject includes a variety of problems, including direct problems that can be easily solved after knowing the mathematical theory or law, and other problems that are similar to puzzles and are indirect and require a lot of attention, thinking, deduction, and the use of more than one theory to solve them. These problems are my favorite because they develop my mind and my ability to think and understand.

In an essay about my favorite subject, I will mention my favorite subject, which is learning foreign languages. Learning languages provides us with many benefits, including learning about the culture of other peoples by reading their writings, or talking to people from different countries and getting to know their ideas, especially through social media, which has greatly helped in communicating with people around the world. Learning languages is also useful in studies, so that I can study at a prestigious university outside my country.

Learning languages allowed me to make friends with many people around the world. We exchange ideas and get to know each other’s cultures. This is very beneficial, and we must benefit from the civilization and culture of other countries. It is not necessary that everything that is different from our culture is bad, and we must choose what suits us from the civilization of others without giving up our principles.

It is important for a person to learn other languages other than his mother tongue, because this will allow him to learn everything new in the field of science and technology.

In fact, it was good to publish scientific research in English, because it is the most widely spoken language in the world, and thus it became easy to obtain information and follow up on modern discoveries and inventions. And there are other favorite topics that I will mention in an essay about my favorite subject.

I also love studying biology, which is an interesting subject because it deals with the study of living organisms, and I love to learn information about the human body and the function of each organ of the body.

Knowing the function of each organ in the body makes us follow health guidelines, and this helps us maintain good health.

I also love drawing, which is my favorite hobby. I love drawing natural landscapes, so I go to gardens or the beach on weekends. There I can practice my hobby and draw beautiful paintings. I also love reading because it is very important for everyone. George Santayana said: “The child whose education is limited to school is a child who has not learned.”

In conclusion to the essay about my favorite subject, I have presented to you some of the subjects that I prefer, and these subjects reflect my interests and are the subjects that qualify me to enter the college I want to study in.

I want to be an engineer in the future, so I am interested in studying mathematics.

Every student must know his or her interests and the job he or she dreams of, and he or she must be interested in studying the subjects that will help him or her achieve his or her future goal.

There is a saying that I liked that says: “The misfortune is to study without thinking, and the greater misfortune is to think without studying.”

I hope you have benefited from the essay about my favorite subject, and I would be happy to receive your comments.

In our school days, as a student, we have to study lots of subjects altogether. It feels hectic to control so many at a time. Yet among all of these, some subjects really occupy our hearts. It is our favourite of all and soon it becomes the target of our higher studies.

For me, however, science is my favourite subject. I have forever admired it as my best. I love scientific experiments and how science is helping us daily to better ourselves. If science would not have been there, then it would have been impossible to develop in any way. Science is one of the bases for human development and hence one of my favourite subjects.

All of us have one subject in our school that we admire a lot. It is our favourite and something that we want to read in the future. For me, that subject is science. In school, some subjects were good, while others felt too tough to study.

I really did not like to read everything. But among all, science was the only one I loved. I still enjoy knowing about it. Science means experiments. The book contains pictures of so many experiments that I enjoy reading. The laboratory contains so many materials for that purpose. I love science as it does not allow superstitions. It depends on reason and facts. I enjoy how regular research for our development is taking place due to the help of science.

Today we have realized the importance of science. Even in a pandemic, we have received vaccines and medicines in little time. Medical treatments are well developed now, and all diseases can be cured easily. Science is one of the reasons for the development of India. Several vehicles for communication are present today.

The Universe is no longer unknown to us. We realize how our nature is constantly helping us. The industries are enabling us a better future. In fact, robots are now used for serving human needs. This enormous success of humans is actually the blessing of scientific studies. So I dream to become a researcher and study this beautiful field.

Everyone in our school has written an essay on science as a curse or a boon. It is a debate if science actually helps us or destroys us further. But beyond everything, I love to study science as it is my favourite subject. In school, we read several subjects.

We love to study some, while others become quite boring. For me, science was that one subject that I enjoyed a lot. In fact, till today I love to study scientific information and the development that is daily enriching our lives. The best thing about it is that it does not allow any superstition. Science is based upon reason and analysis of facts. So it is impossible to have any ill knowledge where there is the cultivation of science.

I started loving science when our teacher showed us some fun experiments. I soon realized science is not some word in the books, but a fact-based subject. The books were pretty, they had lots of pictures. But I did not feel excited about knowing it till I understood the truth behind this subject. Science is observing and analyzing something properly.

The scientific laws are examples of such deeper studies made by several scientists. Only logic and reason create science. This idea caught my mind. I started taking interest in this subject and soon it became my best subject. The laboratory became my favourite place, where I did all the experiments I read in the textbook. Even today I love to read science fiction, journals, and the interviews of many scientists and increase my knowledge about this topic.

Another reason for making science my favourite subject is that we develop because of science. Science saves us from the severity of the calamities. Human beings are ever curious to know about the world and the Universe. Science has enabled them in this process. Everything is scientific. Medical procedures are rapidly changing for the benefit of mankind.

New medicines, vaccines are being invented to fight the most deadly virus. Industries are ever-growing; several forms of communication are available today; equipment like phones, TV, washing machine, inductions, etc. are our daily need; alternative ways to collect rain, dispose of garbage, create electricity are available. Robots are now human help. All of these are blessings of science. Science has shown us an efficient lifestyle. Even the farthest planet is now known to us. Science has made the impossible come true. So I will forever love to study and research on this subject.

In today’s lesson, I have written the essays in a very simple language for a better understanding of all kinds of students. If you still have any doubts regarding this lesson, kindly let me know through the comment section below. To read more about such seasons, keep browsing our website.

Thank you.

My Favourite Subject Essay for Students in English [Easy Words*]

January 16, 2022 by Sandeep

Essay on My Favourite Subject

We have a particular interest and liking towards one subject, which undoubtedly becomes our favourite subject. Children tend to score well and perform better in their favourite subjects than others. Learning becomes easier and effortless in one’s favourite subject, and it enhances a child’s overall progress and builds his skills in a particular study area.

My Favourite Subject English

My favourite subject changed a lot, depending on the teacher. This is because a teacher with lots of enthusiasm and knowledge about their field can encourage me to enjoy a topic much more. Nevertheless, English has always been a consistent favourite of mine, and I’ve been fortunate to have so many good English teachers pass through my school life.

I enjoyed English primarily because the subject’s thoughtful, creative and inspirational nature always fascinated me. I always loved learning new literature and poetry because the experience would continually stir up my imagination. It would leave me wondering how capable we are if we just put our minds to it. Moreover, I received a lot of personal encouragement from English teachers. Because they knew that I wrote poetry and short stories, they would always appreciate my work and tell me to keep writing.

They were always pleased with my marks, although they did often have some rather stern warnings to offer about my handwriting! My favourite aspect of English is that I always stumble upon something new and exciting, so I don’t get bored. Often studying for exams can be awful and stressful, but studying for English exams was always fun.

Learning English at school has had its benefits- it has improved my writing a lot, and as a poet, I am very grateful for that. Moreover, developing strong writing and reading skills also helps you with your exams for other subjects, enabling you to shape answers in a manner that appeals to those reading them.

My Favourite Subject Maths

Every school offers its students a superb range of subjects to study and develop themselves in many ways. Nevertheless, all students are bound to have a favourite. My favourite subject is Mathematics because solving problems helps me focus, and the complexity of certain concepts is fascinating to me. To have an outstanding Maths teacher is always important because I think a smart and generous teacher can completely change the way you view the subject.

I wouldn’t say all my Maths teachers have been perfect, but I’ve learned from the experiences they have provided me. It is essential to understand what style of learning works best for you with mathematics. Not everyone can grasp a concept by merely doing a few practice problems. Everybody is different, and that is why one should always discuss this aspect of themselves with their teacher to improve themselves and score higher marks.

Nevertheless, it is essential to also focus on other subjects. If only mathematics mattered as society tells us it does, then the world would be in utter chaos. This is because there is much more to running the world smoothly than just scientists and mathematicians. Every profession matters, and so does every subject. Every child worldwide should always remember that when thinking about the things that make them happy.

My Favourite Subject Science

My favourite aspect of learning at school is how my subjects challenge me to look at the world from new perspectives. I think the subject that does this the best for me would be Science. It is interesting because of the variety in the subject and the many options explored, mainly Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

My favourite subject is Biology because the human body’s study fascinates me, and I especially enjoy units on how different organs and organ systems function, such as the heart. Chemistry is interesting too because it involves a lot of practical work, and doing experiments in the laboratory helps a lot with the learning process. Physics, on the other hand, can seem cumbersome. Still, if you read about it and look into how it affects the real world, it can be a fascinating field to explore.

My Favourite Subject Essay 1 (200 words)

General Knowledge is and has always been my favourite subject. It was introduced to us in grade I and since then I have loved it. During grade I, we were taught common general knowledge things such as names of monuments, recognition of sports people and celebrities, recognition of country flags and the likes. I found it very interesting as I got to learn many new and interesting things.

I always looked forward to the general knowledge class in the school. As I grew up and went to higher classes, I did not only study the general knowledge books prescribed by the school but also borrowed such books from the library to expand my knowledge. Looking at my interest in the subject my father decided to subscribe to a monthly general knowledge magazine. I eagerly waited for it every month and finished reading the entire magazine in around three days.

I earn appreciation for my knowledge in this subject at school, home as well as in my friend circle. This inspires me to read and learn all the more. My teachers always recommended my name for GK quiz competitions. I have taken part in many such competitions and have also won many prizes for my school.

My Favourite Subject Essay 2 (300 words)

Introduction.

Ever since I was a pre-primary student, I loved drawing. I just loved drawing different things and colouring them. I always looked forward to the drawing class in school. It was my favourite part of the day. I also indulged in drawing as I came back from school. My parents bought me different types of colours including pencil colours, crayons and water colours.

My Love for Drawing

It was actually my mother who encouraged me to draw and colour. She tried to do so to distract me from watching television as she indulged in household tasks. However, drawing eventually became my favourite subject. I tried to draw different sceneries and other stuff and coloured them diligently. My mother soon enrolled me for drawing classes to hone my skills. I learned to draw a lot of new things in my drawing class. My drawing teacher also taught me different colouring techniques. It was quite fun. I went to the drawing classes for almost two years regularly. Even now that I am in V standard, I still join art and craft classes during my vacations. I have also leaned sketching and glass painting.

Environmental Studies – Another Favourite Subject

As I was promoted to standard I, few new subjects were introduced and environmental study was one of them. Apart from drawing, I also love environmental studies. This is because it gives knowledge about so many things happening around us. We learn about plants, animals, air, water and so much more by way of this subject. The facts learned in this subject can be applied in real life and that is what I like the most about it. We also require drawing diagrams in this subject and this is also one of the reasons it is one of my favourite subjects.

While drawing is my favourite subject, environmental studies comes a close second. Both the subjects are close to my heart and I can never get bored practicing any of these.

My Favourite Subject Essay 3 (400 words)

I am quite picky about a lot of things in life including friends, food and activities. Most people around me find my choices quite different and unique. My choice when it comes to subjects is also quite different. The subject that most students find boring seems quite interesting to me. I just love History. It is my favourite subject.

History – The Most Interesting Subject

People often laugh at me and question me about my choice when I tell them that History is my favourite subject. I, however, wonder why students don’t like such an interesting subject. History takes us to different eras and places and we learn so much from it. It is almost like time travelling for me. It associates us with our roots and gives more meaning to our life. I find it all very fascinating.

I love reading about the different kings and queens and how they managed the common people. Many of the kings in the history of India have been harsh on the commoners while there have also been some who have been very kind to them. They helped raise the standard of living of the people living under them. Besides, the chapters included in the syllabus I try to look for books on different events that took place in the history to learn and explore more about the same.

I have read in depth about how the British invaded our country and the way they began ruling it. These real life stories are far more intriguing than any of the works of fiction.

Another topic that I find interesting in this subject is the position of women in different eras and various dynasties. Women had to face a lot of injustice in the past. They were mostly confined to the household tasks and were not allowed to work outside. Their whole and sole duty was to serve their family by carrying out the household chores. They did not have the right to question or go against the will of the man of the house. Another disturbing fact was that the kings were allowed to marry as many times as they wanted and be in a relationship with all their wives simultaneously while queens were expected to be true to their husbands. It shows that we have come a long way since that time when it comes to gender equality.

I have always been fascinated by historical facts and monuments. Not just the Indian history, I love reading about the history of various countries.

My Favourite Subject Essay 4 (500 words)

My favourite subject is English. I feel that, this is one subject that I can learn effortlessly. In fact, to me studying English does not feel like studying at all, it seems like pursuing a hobby. I also love geography and computer science and look forward to studying them. However, English has always been on the top of my list. I can study the English chapters anytime and anywhere.

Why is English My Favourite Subject?

One of the main reasons why I love English is that I like reading fiction and this subject gives me a chance to read a lot. My mother always told me a bed time story when I was a small kid. She soon brought books for me to read on my own. We made it a habit to read at the bed time before falling asleep. She read some novel or magazine for around half an hour and I read story books. I also developed the habit of reading all the chapters from my text books even before they were done in the class and still do the same. This helps me grasp better when those chapters are done in the class.

I also have flair in writing. It comes naturally to me and English is all about writing essays, articles, letters, long and short answers and other similar pieces. This is another reason why English has always been a hot favourite subject of mine.

Scoring High is a Breeze

I am an average student in my class. I score around 70% marks in my exams on an average. However, when it comes to English, I am the one who scores the highest. I score higher than even the brightest of students in the class. I leave behind the top rank holders too when it comes to this subject. Many of them even come to me to understand the subject better. This makes me proud of my skills in this subject. It is also a motivating factor for me. I try to enhance my skills even further. Be it English grammar or essay/ article writing or the question answers section in the exam – I am equally good in answering all these.

I believe it is all about ones interest. If something interests us, we put our entire mind and soul into it. The results then are bound to be excellent. This is the reason why I am able to score so well in English.

My English Teacher – My Inspiration

My English teachers have also been amazing so far. I am particularly fond of my current English teacher. She has in-depth knowledge about the subject. Besides, teaching us lessons included in the syllabus she also encourages us to read novels and short stories to improve our English. As reading interests me, I often seek her suggestion on which books to read. She is my role model and I aspire to be as good in the subject as her.

I aim to excel in English language and become a proficient writer in the subject as I grow up. I have discussed this plan with my parents and they completely support me in this direction.

My Favourite Subject Essay 5 (600 words)

Our interests keep changing from time to time. Be it our favourite colour, favourite food item, favourite person or favourite game – everything changes as we grow up and favourite subject is no exception. Many students love certain subjects in their primary classes but completely despise those subjects as they begin to get tougher year after year. My experience has been quite similar. I have also had a shift in interest and my favourite subject has changed with time.

Mathematics – My Favourite Subject

I have been a big fan of mathematics right from the time numbers were introduced to us in nursery. While my teacher had taught numbers up to 10, I learned counting up to 50 with the help of my mother. I was so curious and keen on learning this subject that I soon began learning addition. My mother introduced fun ways of learning addition by the use of different things such as spoons, oranges, soft toys. I also learned subtraction using such innovative methods.

Looking at my interest in the subject, my mother soon made me join abacus class. I also accompanied her to the toy shop to get an abacus for myself. I simply loved doing calculations using this ancient method of learning maths. Joining abacus helped me enhance my knowledge about the subject. It laid a strong base for me and I performed extremely well in the subject. I scored high in maths. Most of the times, I got full marks in it.

I practiced the problem sums quite often. Whenever I was asked to study, I opened my mathematics book and began solving the sums. I cleared the maths Olympiad with good score. I was also sent for quite a few inter-school maths competitions. Many of my classmates came to me seek help in the subject. Many still come to me to learn different topics. I help them with the subject whenever they need any kind of assistance.

My Love for French

While I am still good in mathematics and my name is recommended for various mathematics competitions, I personally have grown fond of French ever since I have entered sixth standard. We had an option of choosing between Sanskrit and French as a third subject in grade sixth and I decided to go for French. While my parents insisted that I should take up Sanskrit as my mother is well versed with the subject and could help me with it, I convinced them otherwise. Though, they did not like the idea initially however they realized I took the right decision after I started scoring high in the subject. I was always keen on learning foreign language. It was something new and fresh and thus I was interested in it.

My interest in the subject keeps me glued to it. Besides, since I took it up against the wish of my parents, I learn it with all the more zeal to prove to them that my decision was right. My French teacher is quite helpful and supportive. Her method of teaching is quite innovative. She makes us understand this new language with ease. She has made learning so much fun and interesting. I always look forward to the French class. Me and my friends also try to use the sentences we have learned as we converse with each other. I have also started following French artists and listening to French songs.

French has certainly become my favourite subject and mathematics is my second favourite subject now. I am planning to leave Hindi and take up French when the option to choose between the two is given in the ninth standard. I might even take it up as a main subject during graduation.

Long Essay on my Favourite Subject – Essay 6 (800 Words)

Science is one of my favourite subjects in school; in fact, it is the most favourite subject of mine. Logic makes science interesting and the fact that a principle of science applies to our everyday activities, makes it more interesting. Early morning dew drops over flowers, is science; the flying of birds is science; flowing of water in our taps is science; boiling of rice is a science; the running of electric motor and the occurrence of dawn and dusk, all have a scientific principle working from behind. You might not notice or could be oblivious of its presence, but science is always there in the things you do or witness.

What is Science?

Science is a systematic study of observing, analyzing, recording and finding logical justification for an event or activity. Science provides a logical explanation to every incident from – pricking of skin and feeling of pain to the Landing of space ship on moon.

One of the most interesting facts about science is that, it is in a continuous process of development and there seem to be no end to it. Scientific principles have come a long way from Stone Age to today’s modern world equipped with jets and satellites. This development, however, has been made possible only by humans and their curiosity to explore. Man’s desire to find out reason and improve his surroundings, has led to scientific and technological developments that we see today and the exploration still continues.

Modern science of today as we know is divided into three branches. Firstly, natural science consisting of physics, chemistry and biology; secondly, formal science, consisting of logic and mathematics and thirdly, social sciences consisting of economics, psychology and sociology.

Advantages of Science

The advantages of science are so many that it isn’t able to mention all of them in this article. We will go through some of the basic advantages of science in our daily life. Science has made our living easy, comfortable and secured.

Today we live in houses with all the comforts which have been made possible only due to thousands of years of scientific research and development. Science has made it possible for humans to instantly communicate even when separated by thousands of miles. Today it is possible to travel thousands of miles in just couple of hours; which has been made possible only through science and its development.

All the modern equipments one can’t part with like – mobile phones, computers, laptops, bike etc, have been created applying very basic principles of science and further developing the idea.

Science has also made our life more secure both from natural calamities as well as from diseases. Today we know beforehand when a storm is going to arrive or have the prior information of an oncoming natural calamity. This has been made possible only by advancements in earth and climatic sciences.

Similarly, advancement in medical sciences has led to invention of life saving drugs and vaccines against diseases like cholera, malaria and diarrhea etc. Today life expectancy is increased as never before; thanks to the advancement in medical sciences.

Disadvantages of Science

Despite having numerous advantages, there are also some disadvantages of science. The most common disadvantages of science are over dependence and irresponsible handling. Today we depend so much on our scientific gadgets and technology that it is impossible to live a day without them. Over dependence has made us lethargic and lazy. We resist walking for even few miles and rather prefer to take a cab. Science and technology has invaded our everyday life up to dangerous level and made us victims of lifestyle diseases like diabetes and blood pressure.

You must have heard the phrase “curiosity killed the cat”. It fits extremely well in the scenario of science and human’s curiosity to explore it. History is replete with many scientific experiments which took potentially dangerous turn for ex – project MKUltra one of the CIA’s most shocking programs of all times killing nearly 10000 Americans and the Trinity test, a detonation of first ever nuclear bomb in the desert of New Mexico on 16 th July 1945.

Nazis carried out medical experiments on thousands of prisoners, grossly neglecting human life and dignity. Prisoners were injected with deadly viruses and poisonous substances and were made human guinea pigs. But, despite the fatal consequences man’s quest for experiments and explanations continued.

Science is an absolute necessity and its principles are applied in almost all of our everyday activities and gadgets, devices or instruments we use. Advancement in science is also unavoidable, but care must be taken in order to not cause harm or injury to humans or any other living being. Carelessly and abruptly executed scientific experiments could have fatal consequences and history has hundreds of such incidents to retrospect. Such experiments must be carried under the supervision of a trained scientific or instructor.

In the early days of generative artificial intelligence (AI), Ethan Mollick told his students to use it freely as long as they disclosed it. According to Mollick, a specialist in innovation and entrepreneurship at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, “it worked great when ChatGPT-3.5 was the best model out there”. The program was good, but did not replace students’ input and they still had to edit and tweak its responses to earn a high grade in Mollick’s course. Things changed with the release of ChatGPT-4, the latest version of the chatbot developed by the US tech firm OpenAI. The new AI was noticeably smarter, and it became much harder to distinguish its output from that of a person’s. Suddenly, the program was outperforming students in Mollick’s classes and he knew he had to rethink his approach.

Nature Career Guide: Faculty

Today, academia faces a dilemma as AI reshapes the world beyond the campus walls: embrace the technology or risk being left in the dust. However, as versions of the software become more robust, so does the risk of cheating. According to a 2023 -survey, roughly 50% of students over the age of 18 have admitted to using ChatGPT for an at-home test or quiz or to write an essay (see go.nature.com/4fpwrtv ).

Educators today have two options, says Mollick. The first is to treat AI as cheating and intensify conventional measures such as in-class writing assignments, essays and hands-on work to demonstrate students’ mastery of the material. “We solved this problem in math in the 1970s with calculators,” he says. “If cheating is the thing you are worried about, we can just double down on what’s always worked.” The second option, which he terms “transformation”, involves actively using AI as an educational tool.

Lesson logics

The transformative approach is gaining traction on campuses. Innovative educators in various fields, including computer science, literature, business and the arts, are now exploring how AI can enhance learning experiences and prepare students for a technology-driven future. One area in which AI tools have shown particular promise is languages.

“One of the main things you need to learn languages is communication,” says Christiane Reves, who teaches German at Arizona State University (ASU) in Tempe. “‘You need to talk to people and have actual interactions.”

In 2024, Reves decided to build an AI tool to meet this need. Through a collaboration between ASU and OpenAI, she developed an AI program called Language Buddy that simulates human conversation. Students interact with the AI just as they would with a real partner — using it to practise everyday interactions, such as ordering a meal at a restaurant, in spoken German.

If the conversation is too advanced, the student can adjust its complexity. Reves offers the tool for her beginner-level German course. She says it helps students to sidestep the natural anxiety that comes with trying to talk in a foreign language, which is a barrier to people getting the practice they need. Overall, she has been pleased with its performance. “It’s not robotic; it doesn’t just repeat sentences, and it creates a conversation. So you never really know what the next sentence is, which is the natural way,” she says.

Suguru Ishizaki, an English specialist at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, uses AI tools to teach new ways of writing. He has spent his career studying the challenges of becoming an effective writer and has now developed a tool to aid the process. Ishizaki says the problem is that inexperienced writers spend too long trying to craft nicely written sentences, which slows the process of getting their ideas onto the page. By contrast, expert writers and authors spend most of their time thinking, planning and preparing their ideas before hammering out prose on the keyboard. The “cognitive load of sentence craft” creates a hindrance to novice writers, which is where AI can help.

David Kaufer, a colleague of Ishizaki’s at Carnegie Mellon, agrees: “In the early writing process, you shouldn’t be worried about polishing. You should be worried about prototyping your ideas. What you need is a quick scribe to get these things down.”

In 2024, Ishizaki and Kaufer released myProse , an AI-powered tool that helps students to focus on their big ideas while AI handles the mechanics, transforming a student’s notes into grammatically correct, smoothly written sentences. They added ‘guardrails’ to ensure that the only information used by the tool used to create prose is generated from students’ notes, and not from its training data, which is taken from the Internet.

Kaufer says that he doesn’t want AI getting in the way of student creativity. AI should be “an attention tool that simply allows the student to attend to the most important things”, he says — namely, the ideas. By letting myProse finesse the sentence structure and produce drafts “efficiently and professionally”, students have more room to nurture their ideas.

He adds that the course is offered to upper-level undergraduates who already have an understanding of sentence crafting and grammar. It is not meant to be a replacement for learning how to write or practising creative writing, and it will be geared towards technical and professional writing. “Our goal is to preserve English departments and writing instruction,” says Kaufer. “AI cannot get in the way of that, but at the same time it is here to stay.”

Changing minds

Despite the exuberance among early adopters of AI, there is still much resistance among faculty members and students. Lecturers need to stay up to date with AI’s new capabilities and adopt it in an iterative way to encourage familiarity with the technology while maintaining the educational experience.

In his classroom, Mollick focuses on assigning projects to challenge students beyond the current capabilities of AI. In one example, he asked students to do things that AI struggles to do, such as building and testing a board game. He also asks students to reflect on how they’ve used ChatGPT, and what they’ve learnt from it, to gauge their thinking process. In another class, he created a tool that simulates job-interview scenarios for his students to get practice. He requires them to turn in the transcript and write a reflection on the exercise. He also assigns oral presentations with question-and-answer sessions designed to assess students’ knowledge and communication skills.

Closed-up of David J. Malan speaking during a lecture

The challenge, according to Mollick, is that the technology advances and adds new capabilities rapidly, and students are adopting it quickly. Educators cannot simply use AI as an add-on to their courses, he says. Instead, they will have to overhaul their curriculum regularly to keep up with the technology. “We will have to do what we do terribly as academics, which is coordinate and move quickly in teaching,” he says. He urges teachers to share and collaborate with each other to maintain up-to-date teaching tools.

David Malan, a computer scientist at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, recognizes AI’s immense potential to boost productivity, but thinks it is too powerful for the university setting. In his introductory-level coding course that he uses at Harvard, Malan prohibits the use of general AI tools until the end of the course. Instead, he developed his own tool, which offers a more nuanced approach to AI integration in education.

“We set out to make ChatGPT less useful for students, in the sense of providing them with a specific chat tool that still answers their questions but does not provide them with outright answers to problems, or solutions to homework assignments,” says Malan.

To achieve this balance, Malan and his team applied what he calls “pedagogical guardrails” to the AI, designing his tool to nudge students towards the correct solutions without actually providing them. The tool acts like a tutor that is available 24 hours a day, he says, offering help when students get stuck. It allows students to highlight one or more lines of code and get explanations of its function. It also disables autocorrect and autoformat, but it advises students to improve their coding style in the manner of a grammar-correction function, flagging text that needs improvement. His favourite feature is that the AI answers students’ questions any time of day, any day of the week.

Future visions

For Vishal Rana, a business-management -specialist at the University of Doha for -Science and Technology in Qatar, the biggest challenge is the cheating mindset. Students are wary of AI tools because of concerns about academic misconduct. But Rana stresses that once students enter the workforce, prompting AI is a skill that the job market requires. He thinks that using the technology does not constitute plagiarism, and that the final product should be credited to the person who is prompting and knowing how to ask the right questions. “As an employer, I would rather hire somebody who could ask the right questions and increase productivity in a short time span,” he says.

Last year, Rana had a vision of transforming the business-education classroom from a conventional lecture-based environment to one in which students and lecturers worked alongside AI as partners in hands-on projects. Students were required to tap into generative AI programs, such as ChatGPT and Claude (from tech firm Anthropic in San Francisco, California), for many aspects of product development; these included brainstorming, e-mail writing and pitching to investors. The AI created ideas in seconds that allowed students to step into the role of editor, sifting through possible options and finding a feasible one. “Our goal was to create a more dynamic and interactive learning experience that prepares students for the AI-driven future of work,” he says.

In a product-development course, Rana instructed his students to put their real-world skills to the test and conduct in-person interviews with potential clients and stakeholders. The students used AI to write e-mails and generate interview questions, but they were the ones who had to go out and talk to people face to face, which bolstered their social skills. He said that in this case, the AI was working “as a co-pilot in this experiential learning”.

Rana suggests that educators will have to adapt their assignments for use with AI and experiential learning in future. “We suggest to all our academic colleagues [that they] now bring an element of experiential learning into their assessments,” he says. “This will replace old-school report writing and essay writing.”

Malan is optimistic that AI will eventually become a one-to-one teaching assistant — perhaps especially for students who aren’t financially able to go to university. “As much as we are focused on the on-campus students, for us, what’s been especially exciting about AI is the potential impact on self-taught students who aren’t as resourced or as fortunate to live in a part of the world where there are educational resources and institutions,” he says.

“There are quite a few students, young and old, around the world who don’t have a friend, a family member or a sibling who knows more about the subject than they do. But, with AI, they will now have a virtual subject-matter expert by their side,” Malan says.
