Summer season happens to be one of my favourite seasons. There is so much to look forward during the summer season that I cannot help but have a wonderful time.

The Summer Vacation:

I still remember during my school days how I used to make elaborate plans for my summer vacation. The moment summer season used to kick in, all of us would start elaborating our plans for the vacation. Our parents made it a point to always take us out somewhere during the summer season. The vacation was something we really looked forward to.

Going out meant lots of shopping as we often brought new clothes. Mom used to make all the fancy stuff for us and our excitement was always at the peak during the summer season.

The King of Fruits:

Another key reason as to why I absolutely love the summer season is because the king of fruits, mango too arrives in this season. I love mangoes and my father knows about my obsessions. So, as soon as the summer season used to start, he used to ask me when I would expect mangoes. It is also the season of several other fruits which I cherish dearly.

Fun with Friends:

While we used to go on a trip during the summer season, it never lasted the whole vacation. So, after we come back from the vacation, we used to start our community games. This too was a whole lot of fun. There were so many of us who often got into different groups. Some years, we even used to plan championship league which added the competitive streak to our games too.

Everyone had something or the other to look forward during the summer season. Be it the dancing class or the swimming sessions. Some elderly members from the community used to participate in yoga or meditation sessions as well. There were games galore ranging from badminton to carom, football, cricket and more. So, our summer season was always packed with a lot of different activities.

Now that we all tend to spend so much time on our mobile phone, these activities seem to be fading away a little. Often, a lot of us spend the whole summer season simply buried in our phone, surfing the endless pictures of people we do not really know and reading stories that have nothing to do with us.

Ideally, I believe that summer season is best spent with the people we know and the things we love. Going out, making friends, exploring new things is just one way to ensure that your summer season is the one you won’t forget.

As summer is a difficult time for everyone, we should keep food and water for the animals and birds on our terrace and also outside our home. We can also build a small house for them where they can live and protect themselves from the heat of the scorching sun.

Summer Season – Essay 2

Summer season is one of the four seasons that occur on the Earth. It is the hottest of all the season and comes after spring leading to autumn. Usually, it starts from March, and extends till late September. The beginning of Holi usually marks the onset on the Summer season.

The sun rays glisten like powdered gold and the world smells of joy. It ends with the onset of monsoons and heavy rains. Summers brings about different kind of imagery in the mind’s eye. Summer means joy; summer means warmth, summers means blossoms.

Science of Summer Season

Summer season is caused because of the tilt of the earth. These tilt was supposedly caused because of an asteroid hitting the earth and slanting it 23.5 degrees away from its axis. On the course of revolution of the earth, when the tilted side is closer to the Sun, we experience summer, marked by a significant surge in the atmospheric temperature.

During this period of equinox; the Sun positions itself directly over the Equator. The days become longer while shortening the nights. This season also accommodates the longest day on the year (longest duration of daylight from sunrise to sunset).

Inconveniences during summer season

summer season is one of the greatest of all seasons and gives us immense avenues of enjoyment. However, just like everything in the world, it too has a few disadvantages.

  • Summer season being the warmest of all seasons, brings with it various warm and dry local winds like ‘Loo’ which is extremely harmful for children and adults and can induce sickness and tiredness.
  • Because of surging temperatures coupled with the ill effects global warming , surface temperatures often go beyond tolerable crossing over 50 degree centigrade in some parts of India. This causes tremendous inconvenience to people and many even fall victim to sunburn and dehydration. Therefore it is always advisable to smear sunscreen before going out in the sun. Drinking adequate amount of water is also extremely important. We should drink at least 2.5-3 liters of water a day during hot summer.
  • Warm temperatures are extremely favorable to pathogens and pests, thus during this period, incidents of infliction of pathogenic diseases are extremely common.
  • During the Summer season, snakes and frogs and various other hazardous animals come out of hibernation.
  • Because high temperature also favours growth of various bacteria, foods get stale very easily during summer.
  • Due to extreme heat, mirage occurs on road and can cause major accidents.

Summer season is my favourite season of all four seasons. It is related to numerous memories of my childhood and each year during summer; all those memories come back to me in a magically nostalgic experience that cannot be described by words.

No tongue in the world has words with the audacity to be able to enumerate those joyous Summer afternoons of playing with friends; those tiring sweaty days that ended with cold sugary drinks; those lazy warm afternoons that made us sit indoors and drool on storybooks; jumping into the cold water pond with friends for bathing; those long evenings of fishing with father and cursing the fishing for not picking the line; all of these experiences is what that has brought this bright sunny season closest to my heart.

Every summer of my life is clearly etched in my memory and each of these passing summers keep me anticipated for the next year.To end, I would use these marvelous words of Neruda which aptly describes summer:

“ Green was the silence, wet was the light;  the month of June trembled like a butterfly. ”

The summer season usually runs between March and June in India, where the days are considered to be the longer and nights shorter. The weather is hot, humid and dry during this season, and temperature can rise extremely high in certain places, as the Earth tilts itself towards the Sun.

As the Sun shines brightly in summer, this season is suitable for farmers to prepare for cultivation, and we get many seasonal fruits and vegetables. Let us see what sets the summer season apart from other seasons in this summer season essay.

Activities during Summer Season

The summer season is best enjoyed by children, as it is the time when they become free from academic activities and have days of endless play and mischief. Besides, summer is meant for travelling and children go with their families to some cool places or beaches to avoid the heat of the summer.

Children and elders mostly spend their time indoors during the summer, and they engage in various activities and games to keep them entertained. It is also the best season to teach swimming and other water sports to children so that their minds and bodies remain fresh in the hot weather.

In addition to these activities, children tend to eat ice cream and drink juices and smoothies, to keep themselves cool and hydrated. Mango is in abundance during this season, and we can see children on either the top of the mango tree , or standing beneath it to pluck and collect juicy mangoes. We also get other fruits like watermelon, guava, lychee, and jackfruit.

The summer season essay in English will thus be helpful for kids to plan their vacation and write about their experiences.

A Long Essay  on “How I Spend My Summer Vacation”

Summer vacation is one of my favorite times of the year as almost every year me and my family make plans for long vacations. Summer is an ideal time for us to go on stress-free trips and get closer to nature, something we are unable to do throughout the rest of the year due to our hectic schedules.

We generally go to meet our grandparents or go on a trip with family and friends. This year, I went on a trip to the hill stations of Ooty along with my parents, grandparents and cousins. The most important thing about these vacations is the time spent with family during these vacations we make life-long memories.

We started the vacation by going to the native village of our grandparents, which is around 100 km away from the city in which we reside. My cousins and our extended family also joined us in our ancestral home. We then took a train to Ooty.

The train ride was filled with laughter and songs, and I greatly enjoyed the ride. We got to see the beautiful landscapes of India on our way to the destination. We reached our Ooty in the evening. It is a small hill station with beautiful natural scenery and vegetation.

I started the next day with an early morning walk with my grandparents and cousins. I then ate my breakfast after which the whole family traveled around the town. I learnt about the birds and trees of the hill stations. During nights I and my cousins would hear stories from my grandparents. I thoroughly enjoyed these stories. At the end of my trip, we went shopping to take some mementoes to my hometown.

Despite the fact that my summer vacation was longer, the trip was by far the most memorable experience I had at that time. I am very grateful for the time I spent with my family. During the vacation, I not only learnt new things about the natural and cultural heritage of the place but also had a great time with my family. I like summer vacations and have the satisfaction of knowing that I have utilized my time productively.

Why Summer is Hot Weather

It is the season of excessive temperature and dry weather including violent monsoons which causes rising death tolls. Weather in this season grows warmer because of the high temperature which leads to droughts with short water supply, scarcity or completely lack of water in some regions. Heat waves and spikes in temperature make this season excessively hot weather which creates number of problems to both, people and wildlife.

Many summer deaths (people or animals) are caused by dehydration due to heat waves. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, high heat waves are the reason of deadliest extreme weather in summer. So, it is good to stay well hydrated all through the season. According to the National Academy of Science’s Food and Nutrition Board, women should normally take 2.7 liters of water and men 3.7 liters on daily basis in the summer. However, people involved in vigorous exercises must take more water than normal.

It has been recorded by the NOAA’s National Climatic Data Center that year 2014 was the hottest summer. According to NASA, global heat is increasing during summer year by year because of the human created global warming. And, it seems that, this rising temperature will soon make this world a summer-like place all through the year.

Conclusion:

As we are human being, the most intelligent creation of God, we must think and act positively towards this ever increasing temperature. We should enjoy the summer season by using all the comfortable resources however we should not cross the limit. We should enjoy within limit and always save water and electricity. We should not waste water and electricity because there is very less percentage of clean water on this earth and unnecessary use of electricity cause global warming. Come on! We can do it by joining our hands together.

We got up early in the morning at 7 o’clock, despite no school. We had trainers who would teach us different things each day. On the first day, I got to learn karate, which was very amusing and helpful. Further, I learned how to play sports like basketball , table tennis, and volleyball.

Finally, came my most awaited part. We were taught painting and unique tips to master this art. I learned it quickly and started enjoying painting. My passion for painting began from this summer camp , and I will forever be indebted to it.

My Grandparents’ Place

After my summer camp ended, my whole family decided to visit my grandparent’s village . It is situated away from the city and is full of lush and greenery. I love spending time with my grandparents so I was very excited to visit their village.

We stayed there for over two weeks, and that throughout that time, I was at my best behavior. I used to get up at 7 o’clock in the morning to take a stroll with my grandfather. Then all the family members would get together to have breakfast full of healthy things and fresh fruits from the farm nearby.

In the evening, we would sit by our grandmother’s bed and listen to stories. Then, my siblings and I used to go to the terrace and play games. We would also gaze at their stars all night, as we did not get that in the city.

In short, this is how I spent my summer vacation. It was definitely one of the best times of my lives. I got to learn new things and spend valuable time with my grandparents. I feel blessed to have a loving family with whom I can enjoy my summer vacation.
