  1. Thoughts on the 'The Push' by Ashley Audrain : r/books

It was an interesting read. It was okay in the sense that I couldn't put it down. I have 18 old months twins and suffer from postnatal depression. The author captured it beautifully and so accurately in the beginning. Some thoughts I want to discuss. 1.Her husband, Fox, is the most despicable character ever. I have read many MANY books.

  2. The Push by Ashley Audrain : r/bookofthemonthclub

Blythe finding out her husband having an affair through work related emails and his firing was wild to me. I was shocked there wasn't some explosive argument about how they're going to financially carry on as a family. Everyone seemed relatively calm about crazy stuff.

  3. Has anyone read 'The Push' by Ashley Audrain? What did you ...

Yes it was dark but I think it's a very real perspective of feeling like an imperfect mother and the way our thoughts shape how we see the world. 10/10 recommend. I did. I thought it was an uncomfortable read, especially as a mom, and I found it hard to emphasize with any of the characters.

  6. Book Review: The Push by Ashley Audrain

The line between what we see, what we think we see, and what others see is blurred throughout the entire narrative, offering readers a steady opportunity of judgement surrounding Blythe's actions. My Thoughts. The strongest part of this book is the perspective of new motherhood, and just how awful the dichotomy of it can be.

  7. Book Review: 'The Push' by Ashley Audrain

The Push is more of a melancholy family drama than I was expecting going into it, versus something like a more straight-forward domestic thriller à la Baby Teeth or We Need To Talk About Kevin (two deeply twisted books I greatly enjoyed, for what it's worth). That being said, Audrain's novel is as good as it is bleak — very — and approaches the theme of the 'bad seed' with an ...

Review: The Push by Ashley Audrain. It's always difficult to separate the quality of a book from your own instinctive, emotional reactions to its contents. The Push certainly pushed - if you'll excuse the pun - my buttons on two issues: finding motherhood difficult, and the fragmentation of a relationship once children become a part of ...

  17. Review: The Push by Ashley Audrain

In addition to being a book about being a mother, Audrain's novel also looks at the ways behaviors and the effects of those various behaviors get passed down through the generations.
