This Nike Air Force 1 Experimental Colorway Looks Like a USPS Priority Mail Box

A detailed look at the latest Nike Air Force 1 Experimental sneaker has surfaced, and the next release will take on an interesting source of inspiration.

Images of an unreleased Air Force 1 Experimental style have surfaced, a new colorway that resembles the look of a shipping box — specifically the ones that the United States Postal Service uses for its Priority Mail services.

The look is executed in a tonal white-based color scheme on the upper that appears to resemble the look of a taped-up shipping box ready to be sent out for delivery. Adding to the namesake variation of the Air Force 1 Low, the midfoot features a new toggle lacing system atop the traditional lacing set up along with a newly designed tongue featuring exposed foam on the edges and a pull tab on the heel.

Building on the inspiration, the brand has applied a shipping label on the base of the heel featuring the texts “Air Force 1,” “N.354,” “For Everyday Use,” and lastly, “Label AF1 Summer 2021” hinting at when the shoe’s release date. The look is completed with the aforementioned taped-up design covering the midsole along with a blue rubber outsole.

While images of the latest Nike Air Force 1 Experimental “USPS” style were shared, a release date for the shoe has yet to be announced by the brand.

Nike ‘s latest Air Force 1 Low Experimental has been given an “Archaeo Brown” makeover. This colorway is one of a handful of bold-new iterations of the classic silhouette Nike has been putting out recently, like the “Racer Pink” colorway seen just last week.

The “Archaeo Brown” colorway comes with bright “University Gold” highlights that give the shoe a prominent two-toned design. Starting at the top of the shoe is a yellow nylon tongue, complemented by a ripstop pull tab, a set of tonal laces and an elastic drawstring. The rest of the uppers are constructed in a thick foam colored in “Archaeo Brown,” tightly pressed over with a transparent wrap emblazoned with “Air Force 1” branding. Other details like a thinly scribbled “N. 354” logo on the Swoosh, a white sticker on the heel and a yellow midsole rounds off the shoe’s vivid design.

The Jarring Nike Air Force 1 Experimental Appears With “Glow-In-The-Dark” Outsoles

Bruce Kilgore’s Nike Air Force 1 has done a lot since debuting in 1982. As it inches closer to its 40th anniversary, the model has appeared in some of the most jarring styles yet, with a newly-surfaced all-black Experimental-variant being the latest example.

While a newer update to the basketball-classic, the Air Force 1 Experimental has quickly made a statement with its eyebrow-raising design. Seemingly covered in an industrial, haphazardly-applied tape, the model features an upper full of creases and unrefined edges. Profile swooshes, toe boxes and other components of the 39-year-old silhouette are barely discernible. Instead, untraditional lace toggles, pull tabs on the exposed foam tongue and heel and labels at the lower heel steal the spotlight. The latest N.354 proposition maintains a predominantly dark color palette, but some of the aforementioned details indulge in varying shades of green. None, however, feature the “glow-in-the-dark” finish found across the outsole.

An official Nike.com release date hasn’t been confirmed by the brand, but that’s likely to change as 2022 gets underway. In the meantime, enjoy images of the pair ahead.

A pink dream or a pink nightmare?

Nike’s newest redesign comes from its sub-label N.354, which created the Air Force 1 Experimental sneaker in a Frankensteinian manner. The shoe, conceptualized and made in a sports research laboratory, lives up to its name in that it looks like a wearable Ghostbusters experiment — or maybe the work of Hannibal Lecter. Complete with foam and volt sticker details, the freaky footwear is expected to drop soon. But will it sell out or scare consumers off?

In the past few years, Nike has morphed its Air Force 1 with different shades, textures, and even structural changes. Last December, the brand teamed up with Stüssy to remake the silhouette entirely out of hemp . But even outside of collaborations, the Swoosh has taken chances with the Air Force 1, making water-repellent and airbrushed versions of the sneaker. The Air Force 1 Experimental is simply the next step up.

Frankenfoot — After a cream version of the shoe leaked last year, sneakerheads marveled at its experimental one-piece foam uppers, molded to mimic the traditional paneling and overlays of the Air Force 1. To protect its inevitable deterioration, however, the shoe was fully shrink-wrapped in a translucent sheath. Now, the model has returned in an “Arctic Punch / Racer Pink” colorway, with a pink-tinted foam upper and pink, holographic plastic wrap. The shoe’s radiant color extends all the way down to the midsole, met by a gum outsole.

Only a few sections of the shoe interrupt its bright pink hue. White laces accent the unusual shoe, though they serve more as decoration thanks to an underlying tightening system that can be used via an external pull. A gray exposed foam tongue comes equipped with utilitarian pulls, matching a yellow pull on the heel. Yellow pulls can also be seen beneath the laces.

N.354 branding appears on the heel of the shoe, by way of a neon yellow “guarantee of quality” sticker. An additional label can be seen on the molded uppers, where ‘N.354’ has been printed on the lateral Swoosh. Official Nike branding appears on the top of the heel, just above the N.354 sticker, though the brand’s logo has been turned upside down.

Think pink — The Air Force 1 Experimental is certainly unique, which means its drop will either sell out immediately or consumers won’t be interested. So far, the reaction to the sneaker has been mixed, with Instagram commenters leaving as many heart-eye emojis under its picture as trash can emojis.

Whether you love the sneaker or secretly just want to feel how squishy it might be, you’ll get your chance to cop when it releases February 6 on Nike’s website . The Air Force 1 Experimental is expected to retail at $120 — keep in mind it is fresh from the lab. We wonder if its packaging will be just as monstrous.

Nike Air Force 1 Experimental - Sail/Atomic Orange

Joining the bright Pink version of the Experimental take of the Air Force 1 is another pair in a more subtle Sail colourway.

At a glance, the forthcoming pair simply resembles a utilitarian upgrade to Bruce Kilgore’s original design, but closer inspection reveals one of the silhouette’s most interesting makeups of all-time. The aforementioned, spongey materials takes over the model’s traditional full-leather upper, with dimpling throughout driving a deconstructed aesthetic home.

This offering comes dressed in a White, Sail, Atomic Orange, and Black colour scheme. The shoe features a full molded upper with “N.354” printed in Black on the lateral Swoosh. Toggle lacing system, padded tongues, dual pull tabs, with a Volt label on the heels that reads, “This label is your guarantee of quality.” A White midsole atop an icy translucent outsole completes the design.
