The school was decorated tastefully. A stage was erected in the corner of the ground. It was beautifully decorated with flowers and coloured paper. A large seating arrangement was made. Sofas were put in the front rows for chief guests and other special guests Students were made to sit on carpets on the ground.

The State Education Minister Sh. Manohar Lal presided over the function. The chief guest arrived in time. He was welcomed b the Principal and other members of the school management committee and staff. He has presented a bouquet of flowers and garlands The school band played a welcome tune in his honour. The N.C.C cadets presented a guard of honour. The chief guest was taken t his seat. The function started with a cultural programme. Studen performed folk dances and folk songs. This was followed by the drama on the freedom struggle in Hindi. Everybody appreciated the play and clapped.

The Annual Report was then read by the Principal. Everybody gave a big hand for brilliant Higher Secondary results. He mentioned the trophy won by the players of our school. Names of meritorious students were mentioned.

An Honorable Year

Last year will always stay in the memory of everyone as being one of the most successful years of this school. We certainly set a new record in terms of the number of competitions and trophies won. The football team amazingly won the inter-city football tournament to become the best football team in the city. Above all, these games will take place soon after the auditorium show comes to an end.

This new section will certainly be a fitting end to our Annual Function Day. I expect whole-hearted participation from everyone including the parents and teachers.

Today is a very special day as we are going to celebrate our annual function. CELEBRATION WENT WRONG ON THE ANNUAL DAY AT RAHARA BHABANATH GIRLS’ HIGH SCHOOL

Rahara; July 12th, 2022: A disastrous incident has taken place during the annual day celebration of Rahara Bhabanath Girls’ High School. The annual day celebration was scheduled for July 12th, in the school auditorium like all other years. The program started around 10 in the morning, as per the schedule. Various kinds of programs were supposed to be taken place after the initial prize distribution ceremony. But during the initial ceremony, a massive fire broke out in the auditorium.

The installed water sprinklers didn’t start working automatically. But with the help of an emergency fire alarm system, the fire brigade was immediately informed and 3 engines of fire brigades came into immediate action. After 2-3 hours of continuous effort, the fire came under control. Fortunately, nobody was killed in this massive accident. Around 21 students along with teachers were injured.

They were admitted to the nearby district hospital. The local police station is investigating the matter very closely. From the primary investigation, a short circuit is suspected responsible for this accident. As per the management authority, for more than the last 25 years, the annual day has been organised in the same hall, and everything was properly checked before the program. They had no clue that such a devastating incident could occur. This incident will affect the overall reputation of the school, the teacher-in-charge said.

We decided to deviate this day to serve the needy and help the poor, the principal said to us. The day was full of different initiatives and that’s why several teams of students were created and assigned particular projects.

A group of students along with teachers were assigned the task to distribute clothes among the needy people from the nearby slum. Along with it, a literacy campaign was also launched to literate the street children. As per the team leader, this campaign will be continued throughout the month. After all this, the students came back to the school premises and attended an ethics class.

Around 11:30 am. after the class, all the students took part in a tree plantation program. As per the report, around 1000 trees were planted around the school area and each student had to take responsibility for looking after at least two trees. The senior students turned out be excellent actors and their efforts were met with well-deserved applause. As the curtains came down, everyone was requested to go to the grounds for refreshments.

The choir group mesmerised the audience and the dignitaries with beautiful melodic songs. The parents kept cheering for their children who were performing on the stage. After three hours of grand performances by the students, the program ended with the Principal proposing the vote of thanks and extending her warm regards to everyone present at the Annual Day function.

Report on Annual Day Celebrated in DAV

On September 13, 2021, DAV School, Kolkata, celebrated its 50th Annual Day. The day’s events started in the morning with the teachers and the Principal participating in the “Havan”. Classes remained suspended for the day, and the students participating in the Annual Day were busy with the last-minute rehearsals. The program was scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m., and parents of all the students were invited. A huge stage was constructed with ample sitting space on the school ground for the function. The chief guests included dignitaries like the East Zone Coordinator, SDO, Assistant Police Commissioner and Board Members of the DAV committee. The program started at 6:00 p.m. as decided, with the lighting of the candles by the dignitaries and the introductory note of the Principal. The program started with the junior students entertaining the audience with their adorable dance and drama performances. After that, students of Class 7 and 8 performed a dance – drama based on Rabindranath Tagore’s ‘Chitrangada’, which impressed the audience beyond expectations. Soon after that performance, the Class 10 students performed a Bihu dance which got a lot of appreciation from the audience. The day’s events came to an end with the Principal delivering his vote of thanks and extending his warm regards to everyone present at the Annual Function.
