red ghost movie review

An attempt to make a semblance of a western with music under Morricone failed – everything is serious, two bearded jokes and a German in a woman’s dress are responsible for the humor. The rest is standard – the partisans put the Germans in piles, it is not clear how they ended up near Moscow at 41. Translated to English

red ghost movie review

I won’t say anything beyond what has already been said many times: the western, well-staged shooting scenes, the authors know the genre well and skillfully juggle its canons (and sometimes deliberately depart from them), managed to do without jingoistic vulgarity. In short, a good movie Translated to English

red ghost movie review

A chic military action game for a western, where the Nazi evil spirits are beautifully cut out. Sort of They fought for the Motherland – only in an entertaining, slightly blackish manner. Cinema takes not dramaturgy, but visual, style and emotional charge. Translated to English

red ghost movie review

Expected the worst. It turned out to be quite good, the main problem is probably that most of the timing is rather boring, and a number of moments in the final fight turned out to be unsuccessful, such as the melee of a superhero and a villain, and Morricone is inserted too live Translated to English

red ghost movie review

Pros: no obvious blunders either in the script or in the production, there is no anti-Soviet, Borisov does not really infuriate)), shooting at the level, there are some funny shots. plot twists. But in general, a spirit-uplifting film came out. Translated to English

red ghost movie review

You have to give credit. The film was shot according to the classic type of Soviet films about the war. How good are the actors. There is a lot of black humor in the actions, but it looks scary, like with the actions of a person in a state of passion. For me personally, this picture is a pleasant surprise. Translated to English

red ghost movie review

I was tormented by big doubts about whether this film is worth watching or not. In the end, I did get to know him. He turned out amazing. I heard that this movie was called a western. It seems to me that such a definition will not be entirely accurate, but there is something similar. Super! Translated to English

red ghost movie review

At least a curious attempt to make not so dramatic as an action and almost comic book story on the topic of World War II. Translated to English

Here they can! Of course, there were some cranberries, but everything is within the framework of the genre. Good movie overall Translated to English

The non-fashionable genre of westerns, filmed carefully, with trepidation and without much ingenuity. The Germans are mummers, the skirmishes are boring. Translated to English

Colors of Evil: Red – Review | Netflix (4/5)

COLORS OF EVIL: RED on Netflix is a Polish crime-thriller (org. title: Kolory zla. Czerwien ) about the brutal murders of women. Not an easy watch but important – and with great twists. Read our Colors of Evil: Red  movie review here!

COLORS OF EVIL: RED is a new Netflix movie from Poland (org. title: Kolory zla. Czerwien ). It’s a crime-thriller and Polish filmmakers are truly excelling at genre productions these years. Especially when it comes to Netflix productions, which we’ve reviewed quite a few of by now – both movies and series .

This Netflix movie is dark and features brutal murders of women. Overall, it covers a lot of violence towards women, but also the good men fighting for women. It’s based on a book that is the first in a trilogy, so hopefully we’ll be getting Netflix adaptions of the other two as well.

Continue reading our Colors of Evil: Red  movie review below. Find it on Netflix from May 29, 2024.

So much evil

In Colors of Evil: Red , the body of a young girl is found on a beach in Tricity. Her lips have been cut off and this isn’t the first murder victim with that detail. This leads everyone to immediately recognize that the murder resembles a crime from fifteen years ago. However, can it be  that  easy?!

Well, not really, which is hardly a spoiler as the movie would be over within 15 minutes of starting. Instead, something much more sinister appears to be happening. It becomes even more obvious when the prosecutor on the case gets a direct order to stop investigating any further.

His supervisor forbids him to reopen a closed case. However, this is one of the good guys, so he decides to collaborate with the mother of the victim. She’s a judge and ready to do whatever she can to find the people responsible for the brutal end of her daughter.

Pretty much everything in Colors of Evil: Red shows us the worst and most sinister sides of human beings. I should warn you that things get brutal, but I suspect you’ll know that from the plot. Instead, I do want to give you a heads-up that the timeline is a bit wonky.

So, stay alert and focused with this one!

Colors of Evil: Red (2024) – Review | Netflix Crime-Thriller

Based on the first book of a trilogy

Colors of Evil: Red is a Netflix movie based on a book which is the first in a trilogy by author Małgorzata Oliwia Sobczak. So fingers crossed we’ll be getting Netflix adaptions of the other two as well.

If this first adaption is a hit, surely Netflix has everything ready to go for the next two. Actually, they may already be in the making.

All books have the same title except for the color. The first is “Red”, the second book is “Black” – which somehow seems even darker – and finally, book 3 is “White”.

The focus of these stories is brutal femicide cases. In case you’re not familiar with the term “femicide” it refers to the killing of women or girls. It’s a dark world, we’re getting introduced to. Gangsters are working alongside law enforcement and other people who  should  be protecting women.

The ending of  Colors of Evil: Red  on Netflix

A good 20 minutes or so, before the actual ending of Colors of Evil: Red , it feels like the story is getting wrapped up. It was only because I knew the runtime beforehand that I knew something was up.

The Colors of Evil: Red ending has an additional level that is just built for breaking us viewers a tad more. Because, trust me , the conclusion up until that point has been plenty dark. However, before it’s all over, we do need to get a bit deeper and darker.

The cast of this Polish crime-thriller delivers excellent performances which makes it all the better. Whether portraying villains or those trying to do right, we see nuanced and natural characters who are just doing what’s in their nature.

From Maja Ostaszewska and Jakub Gierszał in the lead roles as Helena, the judge, and Bilski, the prosecutor, respectfully to Zofia Jastrzębska ( Infamy ) as Monika. The unfortunate woman who is suffering at the hands of bad men.

Those who have watched some of the previous Netflix productions from Poland will recognize several actors in Colors of Evil: Red . Including Przemyslaw Bluszcz ( Feedback ) as the gangster Kazar, and Andrzej Konopka ( Signs ) as the forensic examiner Dubiela.

Watch  Colors of Evil: Red on Netflix now!

This new Netflix movie, based on Małgorzata Oliwia Sobczak’s crime novel (the first book in a trilogy, as mentioned earlier), was directed by Adrian Panek. He previously wrote and directed the horror drama Werewolf (2020) . He also co-wrote the adapted screenplay with Lukasz M. Maciejewski.

As good as  Colors of Evil: Red  is – and it  really  is good – the story is told in a way that can confuse a bit. There’s no help from the filmmakers by way of a “3 months earlier” message. Instead, we suddenly see someone, who we know has been murdered, alive yet again and can conclude that this is a flashback.

Other than these slight flashback moments (which are not themselves very chronologic either), I really was impressed with the plot, world-building, and character gallery of the Netflix crime-thriller.

Colors of Evil: Red is on Netflix from May 29, 2024.

Director: Adrian Panek Writers: Lukasz M. Maciejewski, Adrian Panek, Malgorzata Oliwia Sobczak (book) Stars: Zofia Jastrzębska, Maja Ostaszewska, Jakub Gierszal, Andrzej Zieliński, Andrzej Konopka, Przemyslaw Bluszcz, Kagga Jayson

After the body of a young girl is found on a beach in Tricity, an ambitious prosecutor discovers that the circumstances of the murder resemble a crime from fifteen years ago.

I write reviews and recaps on Heaven of Horror. And yes, it does happen that I find myself screaming, when watching a good horror movie. I love psychological horror, survival horror and kick-ass women. Also, I have a huge soft spot for a good horror-comedy. Oh yeah, and I absolutely HATE when animals are harmed in movies, so I will immediately think less of any movie, where animals are harmed for entertainment (even if the animals are just really good actors). Fortunately, horror doesn't use this nearly as much as comedy. And people assume horror lovers are the messed up ones. Go figure!

Patrick Swayze's 10 Best Movies & TV Shows, Ranked

Bruce willis gets encouraging health update from daughter 2 years after retirement announcement, 10 reasons furiosa underperformed at the box office despite its 90% rotten tomatoes score.

  • Demi Moore shares her thoughts on Channing Tatum's Ghost remake.
  • Though acknowledging some stories are better left untouched, she's optimistic about the new iteration, feeling that reinterpretations of classics can bring " wonderful surprises ".
  • Tatum's Ghost remake faces high expectations after original's Oscar nominations and box office success.

Channing Tatum’s Ghost remake gets a curious and optimistic response from original actor Demi Moore . The 1990s classic of the same name starred Patrick Swayze, Moore, and Whoopi Goldberg, and followed banker Sam Wheat (Swayze), who was tragically murdered in an attempted robbery, and his desire to reconnect with his girlfriend Molly (Moore). The film currently holds a 75% Rotten Tomatoes score from critics and, with the help of re-releases, has grossed $500 million at the box office. Details are scarce, but Tatum’s Ghost remake will follow the original movie’s plot.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly , Moore shares her thoughts on Tatum’s upcoming Ghost remake, ultimately saying that she’s curious to see how its remade for a modern audience. Though she notes that every story's been told and that some films " are better left not touched ", there could be " wonderful surprises " in new takes on existing material.Read her full comment below:

Look, every story in some ways has already been told. The wonderful thing is the different way things can be reinterpreted. I think there are some films that often are better left not touched, and left, and then sometimes there are wonderful surprises in that reinterpretation.

Can Channing Tatum’s Ghost Remake Top the Original?

Tatum’s Ghost remake has some big shoes to fill.

Tatum’s Ghost remake has some big shoes to fill , given the original film, as mentioned before, opened to solid reviews and a sizable box office gross. The film was even nominated for five Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Film Editing, Best Music, Original Score, Best Actress in a Supporting Role, and Best Writing. It was able to win the latter two, and it still remains a favorite today, particularly fans of the late Swayze.

Patrick Swayze's 30-year career is full of classic hits and hidden gems that prove the talented actor was more than just an action hero.

The original film was praised for its writing, citing the script as precise and witty, delivering romance, drama, and humor in a truly genre-bending package. Its visual effects have also aged well, while its deeper themes of an afterlife, grief, and communicating with the dead were not lost on its audience. It had something for everyone, and pair that with the film’s superb performances, specifically Goldberg’s, and the result is something that stands the test of time.

Tatum’s remake of Ghost is up against the usual expectations of redoing a beloved classic. Details are still spare, but Tatum is presumably taking on the role of Sam. As for its plot, the Ghost remake will follow the original’s, but Tatum’s said that a few things that haven’t aged well will be fitted for a modern audience. Further regarding its cast, the Ghost remake hasn’t filled out any roles except for Tatum’s, including Molly and Oda Mae Brown. The roles have been performed well by Moore and Goldberg, respectively, so the bar’s been set high.

The original Ghost is available to stream on Paramount Plus.

REVIEW: ‘Colors of Evil: Red’ Tells A Brutal Story

M onika was a bright young woman who was liked by all who knew her. But when her body washes up on a beach mutilated, Prosecutor Leopold Bilski ( Jakub Gierszal ) seems to be the only officer willing to search for the truth. Aided by the deceased’s greiving mother, Helena ( Maja Ostaszewska ), Bilski will confront a dangerous world more brutal than he ever would’ve expected in Colors of Evil: Red , directed by Adrian Panek , written by Lukasz M. Maciejewski ( Mother’s Day ), and Adrian Panek, and based in the novel by Malgorzata Oliwia Sobczak .

Colors of Evil: Red ’s narrative takes viewers down a violent rabbit hole as it explores the cruelty and indifference of much of its cast. While the movie’s use of its many torturous moments feels focused on highlighting the horror that Monika is made to endure, some moments stray into the realm of gratuitous where its visuals are concerned.

The villain in the movie is a monster. The film could take away half of what he does and he’d still be a horror of a human being. How he works the system and how many people are willing to tolerate him only expands his horrific nature. However, the overzealous approach to driving home just how monstrous he is fails to enhance the movie’s narrative at the end of the day.

While the level of graphic violence can be a stumbling block for the film, Colors of Evil: Red ’s biggest hurdle is its unclear narrative. Split between two points in time, the movie follows the present-day investigation, as well as Monika’s life prior to her death. While this approach isn’t bad in concept, the movie fails to lay out clearly when past events are happening.

The early scenes of the past narrative feel like they present the moments leading up to Monika’s death. This is jarring and confusing for the viewer as the sequences continue being dotted throughout the film. It eventually becomes clear what the structure and purpose of these moments are, but only after a fair amount of confusion. This confusion draws the viewer out of the film as they are jerked back and forth between time periods.

The present-day narrative brings an engaging, if unoriginal story. Bilski’s investigation is filled with plenty of twists and turns as the story draws him deeper into the violent underbelly of his city. Gierszal does an excellent job playing the role of the last honest cop in town. How the actor projects the character’s convictions without making him more than a normal person is highly effective. There are no impassioned speeches about doing the right thing, just a dogged determination to do his job.

One of Colors of Evil: Red ’s greatest achievements is how subtly the film builds out Bilski as a character. Throughout the film, we get tidbits and hints about personal elements of the character’s life. These elements are never fully explored, but the way they are casually mentioned informs the viewer about some of Bilski’s motivations.

Alongside Bilski in his search for the truth is Monika’s mother, Helena. Ostaszewska does a great job of bringing her character through her grief. The narrative’s portrayal of Helena’s struggle to exist and her need to find answers is an engaging plot line that hits tremendously hard.

But while the stars of the present-day story deliver well, Monika truly steals the show. Colors of Evil: Red is filled with complex characters , but how it approaches Monika is beyond the rest. How Monika is drawn into the dark side of her world is an engaging story that allows her to be flawed and sympathetic. She makes some big mistakes that lead her to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

However, the film never tries to blame her for her final fate. It balances her naivete and youth with external pressures and past trauma to weave a character the viewer feels for. While what happens to Monika is terrible, it feels even worse once the story fully reveals the scarred and troubled woman who the film’s villain tortures.

Colors of Evil: Red tells a gripping and emotional tale that hits hard when the narrative is laid bare. Its missteps in story structure and sometimes gratuitous violence keep it from being as great as it could be, but it’s still a powerful story if you have the stomach for its brutality.

Colors of Evil: Red is streaming on Netflix.

Demi Moore says she’s intrigued by Channing Tatum ‘s plans to remake the 1990 Oscar-winning film, Ghost .

The film grossed $506 million at the global box office and won two Oscars at the 1991 Academy Awards — one for Best Original Screenplay, and the other for Whoopi Goldberg’s supporting performance.

Moore spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the potential remake.

Tatum has not spoken to Moore about his plans. “No, he hasn’t,” but added, “He’s super talented. I’d be curious to see what he decides to do.”

Tatum previously told Vanity Fair that he wanted to take on the role originated by Patrick Swayze in the film, which followed a murdered banker (Swayze) using a New York City medium (Goldberg) to warn his girlfriend (Moore) of a looming threat to her life.

“But we’re going to do something different,” he said. “I think it needs to change a little bit.”
