Speech on My Family – My Family Speech in English for Children and Students

February 17, 2022 by Study Mentor 12 Comments

The best gift God has given to all living beings on earth is a family. Getting a happy family is a blessing because not everyone in the world has it. The pleasure of living with your parents, fighting over petty with your siblings can just make you smile the moment you think about it.

My family has always supported me without any claim, from the moral teachings to love and support. For me, my family is like a strong pillar on which I can rely blindly whenever I need support. My family is always there to inspire and support me to overcome all life challenges and accomplish things. A relation is a unique kind of love that gives you all the lessons you need to live a healthy lifestyle.

My family is one of the world’s craziest families. We ‘re four members, my mother, my father, my younger brother, and me. While my dad is the one who works for a living, my mom is the boss of the house. My dad is a humble person. He doesn’t scold us. But, just the opposite, our mother. She needs us to remain vigilant, and she quite often scolds us.

  • I have a wonderful family, and I love every member of my family.
  • My family is made up of four members- father, mother, brother, and myself.
  • My dad is an engineer, and my mother, by profession, is a school teacher.
  • Every member of my family loves, respects, and cares for one another.
  • My family goes there once every two weeks for a picnic.
  • After dinner each night, we all like to spend time with each other.
  • My family has taught me strong lessons about our love, solidarity, and cooperation.

Why family is important?

Families are wealth, which not everyone is lucky enough to have. Sometimes, those who have don’t value this gift. Families are important because they assist in our development. They grow us all into a full-fledged human with individual identity. They always offer us a sense of comfort and a safe place to flourish within. We learn to socialize and develop our intellect through our families. Studies demonstrate that people who live with their families tend to be happier than those who live alone. In times of trouble, they serve as your pillar.

When the entire world questions you, families are the only ones who believe in you. Similarly, they ‘re the first to cheer you up when you’re down and out. Having a supportive family by your side is a great blessing. In ups and downs, my family has always been at my side. They taught me how to be a better human being. I will be grateful to my family forever for what they did to me. Without them, I can’t imagine my life. They are my first instructors and friends.

The atmosphere in my family

We have a peaceful environment at home. After school, we spent our time studying, playing and watching TV, which our mother certainly doesn’t like. Like other partners, my mum and father rarely fight. In reality, as soon as we see an argument coming up, one of them just withdraws, and a heated debate between them is just rare to see. That’s what I like most about them because I feel my parents are so sweet. It is just my brother and me who enjoy competing with each other.

However, we know that it is truly our love for one another that holds us together behind those battles. I just enjoy spending time at home with my parents and my brother. I feel like how bad it will be when we go on with our professional lives tomorrow, and we won’t be able to spend a lot of time together.

My family values

My family values are what I care so much about because they have made me what I am today, and I intend to pass on these great values in the future to my children. Every family has those things, acts, and values that they hold in high regard and so much appreciation

My Family Values include –

This is a strongly secured concept within my family. Since my childhood, my family has made me learn how to be honest and the benefits that lie inside

My mom believes that if the world and everyone in it shows love and kindness to each other, there will be no hatred, and wars will be wiped out.

This is a concept passed down in my family from generation to generation. My dad would say the best legacy you can give a child is education.

I don’t want to be wrongly addressed and give the wrong impression. So, the way we dress and our appearance matters a lot to us.

Why do I love my family?

My father is the world’s best father. I am looking a lot at my father because I want to take a lot of his habits and make them mine. He taught me to be satisfied with everything that I have. My mum is the world’s greatest chef. Without my mum, I don’t know where I will be today. I owe her quite a deal.

My brother is one of the greatest presents that I’ve received. He is the last kid, so if you know what I mean, this gives him the potential to be irritating.

Each family has one thing or the other, which they hold in high regard and continue to pass from one generation to another. That is what makes a family a single group not because blood binds us but because we share the same beliefs. We always have one reason to love our family. I love my family because it’s the best gift I’ve ever been able to ask for and the fact they’ve been there for me through the good, bad, and fun times. They are a complete word for me. They are always to support me during my tough times.

My Family Speech – Essay 2

Good morning/afternoon to everyone.

My name is John and I am here to present a speech on ‘ My Family ’. I love my family. I have my father , mother and a younger sister in my family. They take great care of me. A family is the most important and complete unit of a society.

This requires a lot of effort into building relationships with everyone belonging to your family. And I’m so glad to acknowledge the great support and affection I derive from my family that builds me up as a unique creation of God and encourages me to follow my dreams and passions.

Father is the head of the family and he is supposed to lead everyone because we all look up to him. My father is a much disciplined man. Henceforth, he wants to keep us all in strict discipline.

‘Early to bed, early to rise makes a person healthy, wealthy and wise’

And that’s kind of the principle of our family. My daddy makes us go to sleep early and wakes us up early. Sometimes, very early! Although it seems so disruptive at the moment when I can’t get to be lazy sometimes but I know that he does it for our good and I respect him for that.

My daddy is my role model . He is more special to me than Superman and Spiderman because he can do what no one can. His sweet affection is so dearly communicated while we sit every night at the dinner table and talk about our day. My daddy also taught me to pray.

So whenever I am afraid I close my eyes and pray to God and I feel peace in my heart. Well, yes I am very naughty and I get spankings from him sometimes. Like, when I disturb him during work hours or I disrespectfully yell at people. He teaches me to respect my elders.

my family paragraph

He initiates me into things I don’t understand. He always pushes me to work harder, to go an extra mile even when I don’t think I can, I do it anyway! He always emphasizes the importance of education.

He makes me believe that I have powerful capabilities and I dream to be a very wonderful, successful and brave person as he is, full of integrity. He tells me every day how much he loves me and I’m ever thankful for him.

My mother is my favourite. She is the sweetest person on earth. She doesn’t scold me much; instead she even saves me from daddy’s spankings sometimes because she’s very kind. She is also very beautiful. She doesn’t go out for work because she has to take care of my younger sister.

She takes out time for me every day no matter how tired she is and helps me with my homework and talks about a whole lot of sensible things that teach me to be a person of strong moral character. She is a wise woman. Unlike many others, she is a good steward and she likes to spend her money very wisely.

She maintains order in the house and makes our house look so beautiful. Although sometimes when I leave my room so messed up she scolds me but then she cleans it and makes it so tidy that I’m hardly able to recognize it any more. She makes me so happy that sometimes I dance around to show off me elegance and she joins me.

Little things like that make my heart rejoice and make my day. She cooks the most delicious food in the world. I dread those days when I will have to leave my home someday to go away for studies; I don’t know how I will survive without her. She is God’s most wonderful gift to me.

My younger sister has not started school yet but she’s very mischievous just as I am. We are kind of click together. Sometimes I playfully irritate her and she cries to mummy and then I feel bad. So I try to take good care of her too.

I love my family very much and I’m so grateful for my parents.

Creating Family Love With Friends

  • How to Sustain Family Relationships

The first love you ever know often comes from your mother and your immediate family members. This unconditional love seeks nothing in return. Those loving times you remember cuddling with your parents, playing ball with your brother in the backyard, or getting ice cream down the street with your grandmother aren’t just cherished memories.

A family's love psychologically grounds you and provides a framework for future relationships. It enables you to form secure attachments . Securely attached children feel safe and cared for. If you had secure bonds, your parents were likely responsive and fulfilled your needs when you were young.

Having positive attachments and feeling cared for by your loved ones leads to higher social functioning later on. A child with secure attachments also can more easily form healthy ties with others when they grow up and throughout their future.

The advantages mentioned above regarding the fostering of secure attachments and higher social functioning aren’t the only ones accrued by stable family relationships. When you feel safe, protected, and cared for during those crucial early years, you have a good framework for the world. The future outlook seems bright.

Living in a warm environment that is surrounded by a family's love generates other benefits including:

  • You gain confidence and a high sense of self-esteem .
  • You learn conflict resolution skills .
  • You learn about communication and social interactions.
  • You have good physical health (thanks to home-cooked healthy meals, regular exercise and play, and early bedtimes).
  • You become more resilient and adaptable as you and your family surmount challenges.
  • You feel like you have support when you need it.
  • You feel a sense of stability and predictability based on routine.
  • You don’t have to do anything to earn family love. You have it unconditionally—just for being born.
  • Your childhood experiences and growth are seen in a positive light.
  • You also decrease the possibility that you’ll have mental health challenges in the future.

Recent Research

A 2019 study showed that adults with higher levels of positive childhood experiences had lower odds of depression and/or poor mental health and greater adult-reported social and emotional support.

Feeling loved by our families and having great childhood experiences when you’re young is important. The study also showed that enhancing positive childhood experiences may reduce adult mental health problems even when adverse childhood events happened.

Estrangement From Family Members

Perhaps you didn’t have an idyllic childhood and your parents weren’t good role models. You might have chosen to distance yourself from them by choice. Or in later years, you preferred to strike out in a different direction than the one you were expected to follow.

Thus, rather than have tension and discomfort, you opted not to spend time with family.

About 27% of Americans are estranged from a family member. That’s according to a survey by the  Cornell Family Reconciliation Project  conducted for the book, Fault Lines: Fractured Families and How to Mend Them , by Cornell University sociologist Karl Pillemer.

What If Effects of the Pandemic Negatively Impacted Your Family?

During COVID-19, family dynamics often shifted. As a result of spending more time together, let’s face it. Many of us became frustrated with each other. Some relationships frayed. Unable to escape to movies or to meet friends, you might have even grown resentful of your brother playing his music too loud or your cousin eating your favorite cereal on a daily basis.

Though you are related to them by genetics, maybe you’ve grown tired of being cooped up with them. With added stressors and demands placed upon you, you might feel you didn’t get the understanding or assistance you needed.

Consequently, you may feel depleted and, to be frank, less than enamored with these people. Many confess they are more alienated from family members now than before the pandemic, although the whole family still remains under the same roof or in the same apartment building.

Recent research from Penn State showed because family members were stuck together for more time than they were used to, people's overall well-being began to suffer.

Others of us lived and worked across the country from our family. We couldn’t travel to visit them or perhaps we couldn’t give much time to loved ones. Maybe we felt guilty. Maybe we were relieved.

Disagreements over politics , wearing masks, and getting the vaccine strained family relationships. Perhaps you feel there won’t be a return to the way things were before the pandemic and that’s okay.

You can cope with estranged relationships and make peace with them through family therapy or individual therapy .

If you didn’t have a wonderful family experience growing up or don’t have one now, you still have agency in creating another kind of family. Family love can be found whether it’s based on bloodline relationships or not.

Family love can be built with a group outside of your family, such as your friendship circle. Rest assured you don’t have to be extremely close to your parents or siblings or children to have familial love.

The relationships you forge with neighbors, friends from work, or childhood friends who might be back in your life can serve extremely well as your family. Perhaps you’re close to college friends or church friends. You can establish your own close ties with people you choose to be with.

For many people, their close friends aren’t just "like family," they are family. The important thing is to have close, meaningful relationships as they sustain us.

According to a scientific review of about 150 studies that included 300,000 participants, people with strong social ties have a 50% better chance of survival than those with weaker ties. This is regardless of age, sex, or health status.

While we can maintain ties through texting or quick phone calls to just check in, you might want to devote more attention to these important relationships in your life. We need to remember that having these close relationships is a significant aspect of good health.

Tips for Nurturing Family Love

Let’s focus on easy ways to maintain these bonds; they matter deeply. Here are additional ways to nurture family love and significant relationships:

  • Make spending time with loved ones a priority.
  • Play games online regularly.
  • Practice better listening skills .
  • Write letters and send via snail mail .
  • Set up a regular weekend hour to chat at length.
  • Travel to your loved one’s home.
  • Eat meals together.
  • Cook together in person or virtually.
  • Set up a weekly happy hour.
  • Join an exercise or weight lifting class together.
  • Join a recreational sports team together.
  • Volunteer together for a charity you both admire.
  • Be sensitive and caring.
  • Tell your loved ones you love them .
  • Express your gratitude to them, which not only will make them happy but makes you happier.
  • Use non-verbal expressions like eye contact, smiles, and affectionate embraces.

Hugs are important as we need physical touch as human beings . In fact, during a warm and welcome hug , the hormone oxytocin is released, which slows down our heart rate, reduces stress, and lowers anxiety. In addition, the brain also releases endorphins that flood us with feelings of pleasure and happiness.

There are many benefits of belonging to a supportive family network.  It’s an integral part of physical and mental well-being. Begin to focus your time and attention on those you love. Soon you’ll be creating fun times and happy memories.

Respected Principal, teachers, and dear friends,

Today I am going to speak about my family.

Family is where we learn our first life lessons, and they are the only assets that remain with us forever. I have a strong attachment to my highly educated and kind-hearted family, and their wonderful nature brings us closer. My love for my family surpasses anything else.

In our nuclear family of five, my father, a teacher, takes the lead and guides our family. He is the driving force behind our family’s success, predicting our needs and shouldering all responsibilities to shape our lives. He is my hero, making incredible sacrifices and ensuring our well-being.

What sets my father apart is that he never imposes his career choices on me. He values my independence and believes in allowing me to pursue my own path based on my interests, suitability, and capabilities. However, he desires a better future for me, and his support and guidance are invaluable.

My mother, a lovely woman, is both a dedicated homemaker and a talented beautician. She understands me like no one else, and we work together as partners in everyday tasks and challenges. Her elegant and insightful actions shape me into a noble individual. She encourages me to engage in activities that build character and promote personal growth, fostering a natural learning environment.

The love and respect I have for my mother goes beyond words, as she exemplifies unmatched motherhood and makes incredible sacrifices for me.

My elder brother, the tallest among us, is a passionate YouTuber and cooking enthusiast. He also loves playing cricket and is a gadget aficionado. Although he may not focus much on academics, his sweetness, and gentlemanly demeanor make him endearing.

Despite being in my final year of studies, my family continues to treat me with the affectionate nickname “chottu.” This endearing gesture reflects the immense love and care they have for me. I aspire to become a pillar of support for my family and repay the love and care they have shown me.

For me, my family is the epitome of love and support. Regardless of the circumstances, we are always there for each other, nurturing good values and morals. Respect for elders and love for younger ones are instilled in us from a young age.

My grandmother consistently teaches me important lessons in honesty, dependability, kindness, and more. I treasure my family as they are the precious jewels of my life. Their unwavering hard work to fulfill our desires strengthens my love and respect for my parents. We bond by playing games every night and engaging in meaningful discussions, cherishing quality time spent together. My family holds the highest place in my heart, surpassing anyone else.

With this, I conclude my speech. Thank you all for your patience and cooperation.

Speech on Importance of Family Values Free PDF Download

Family values are the virtues of an individual that is valued and passed on from generation to generation. In our country India, everybody has high regard for families and family values and when trouble knocks the family members defend and protect each other. However, with changing times the definition of family values has also changed with more youngsters wanting to live separate from their parents. This aspect of family values is prevalent in western culture, and it looks like our country is also adapting such things.

Most individuals don't think about family values until they need to teach their children a lesson in reaction to an unpleasant conduct. Family values, on the other hand, should not be disregarded. Thinking about your family values and imparting them to your children at a young age might educate your children how to behave when you are not around. What you do and say has an impact on your children. Encourage healthy family decisions and behavior by living a life that makes you proud of your family. Throughout life, important family values and ethical concepts will serve as guides.

For this speech on the importance of family values in an English article, we will explore different ways to present it and what can be conveyed. It can be a long speech on the importance of family values or a short speech on the importance of family values.

Long Speech on Importance of Family Values

This form of speech is useful for students in grades 8-12 who have to deliver a 5-minute long speech.

Good morning everyone, respected teachers, and my dear friends. I am Abc (mention your name) here to speak on the topic of the importance of family values. Living in India, we all know no matter wherever you are, whenever one interacts with you the first question one asks is about family. It is in our culture and tradition that it is believed that you carry your family name and values everywhere. Family truly gives us an identity in the society and the world we live in.

Whenever one achieves success in life and does a good deed, the first remark is he/she must be from a good family or he/she is so well brought up by their families. That is the reason the family values are very highly regarded and rightly so. Whether a child becomes a responsible adult or an irresponsible adult, depends on the values they grew up with.

Family values are the principles or standards of behavior that one considers useful and deserving of worth and that inform one's judgment of what is important in life. Earlier, in India, families lived together. Every member of the family, grandparents, parents, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The children will adapt and learn not what you say but what you do. The children see the way the elders of the family behave with each other and learn what is important based on their actions. If a family behaves respectfully, with love and care for each other, then these values will be deemed important for everyone in the family. When in terms of a crisis or problem, it is upon the family to proceed with patience, dignity, and grace. And arguments or disagreements within the family should also be handled in a mature manner without humiliating and behaving condescendingly to anyone.

It is what one sees in a family, they emulate even outside the daily dynamics in other relationships. There is a family outside of blood relations as well, the ones we choose. Our friends who become family also teach and add a great deal of value to our lives. The teachers who teach us and make us realize our purpose in life also become our family and their taught values are truly irreplaceable.

Now even when joint family systems are no longer seen and more nuclear families are being created, the importance of teaching and practicing good values will always remain intact. Even in a family of four, if love, joy, and togetherness are valued then that will be passed on along generations.

We must remember that even if the world is against us, it is our family that will support us and lead us to new heights of understanding of ourselves. If we falter, the values we learned from our family must be taught a way to admit, apologize, and actually show changed behavior.

Family is something that will be bound to us always and we must respect that whether we live far or near. And one is never alone in the world because of family. I thank my family, friends, and teachers for accepting me, teaching me so many things, and allowing me to learn from my mistakes.

Short Speech on Importance of Family Values

This form of a short speech is helpful for students in grades 4-7 who can deliver a 3-minute speech based on the points covered here.

Good morning everyone, respected Principal, Teachers, and my dear friends. I am so happy for this opportunity to deliver a speech on the importance of family values. I feel happy to talk about such a relatable topic.

We all are an amalgamation of all the relationships in our life we share from our birth, childhood, and adult life. Anything that resonates with us, we try to be that. The most influential impact we have is from our family. My friends often praise me for my helpful nature. I would like to credit my parents for teaching me the importance of being helpful with examples.

All the good in me is because of my family. We are a close-knit small family, earlier we lived with our grandparents, because of my parents’ job we moved to the city a couple of years ago. My parents have always valued family above anything else in their lives, they learned this from their parents.

They have taught me the importance of being honest, trustworthy, patient, and taking personal responsibility.

I have learned to be courageous and persistent because I have seen my parents never giving up if any problem arises. I have seen them work with integrity and uncompromising ethical values that I respect a lot. I hope I can be like that when I grow up. We must learn from our parents and try to be better people who can add value to the world we live in through our acts of kindness and bravery. Let’s live with love and humility in the world just like we do with our families.

10 Line Speech on Importance of Family Values

This format of speech is helpful for students in grades 1-3 to understand the meaning in simple words.

Family is the most important aspect of everyone’s life, especially a child.

And children learn from what they see and experience more than what they hear.

A child who is brought up with love, care, compassion, respect, and understanding will inculcate such values.

These values become inherent and grow when they carry on with other relationships be it with siblings, cousins, and friends.

Earlier people lived in joint families set up now it is changing to nuclear families.

In joint families, everyone is always there for each other to help and support in case one needs help.

In nuclear families, mostly all are working and busy so they work and make efforts to be there for each other.

It is not the number of family members that matters, it is the environment and the surroundings one lives in that hold a greater value.

The environment a family provides must be a safe place where fairness, caring, responsibility, humility, and kindness are practised and appreciated.

When a family has strong core values they live in peace and harmony for many generations with such values.

FAQs on Speech on Importance of Family Values

What are family values?

Family values, also known as familial values, are traditional or cultural values that connect to the structure, function, roles, beliefs, attitudes, and goals of a family. Traditional or conservative beliefs that are considered to enhance the healthy functioning of the family and the strengthening of society's fabric. The traditional family structure, gender norms, and child care are all values. While these roles within the family unit are fast shifting, it is critical to ensure that all of the family's needs are met, whether they are met by the man, the woman, or both of them together as partners. There are several key family values that you may want to instill in your children. The values listed below are by no means fully comprehensive.

Why are family values important?

Individual family members, the entire family as a unit, and the society in which we live are all affected by family values. Most Families will share a shared set of values, such as a love of freedom and a belief in democracy, as citizens . Family values assist us in determining what is good and wrong. Values encompass not just our morality but also our roles, beliefs, and attitudes. Family values serve to establish male and female roles as well as family interactions. Family values play an important role in teaching your children what is right and wrong. To put it another way, having strong values can assist your children in achieving their goals. Adult children are more likely to make decisions that you will approve of. Younger members of the family will be better able to resist peer pressure and make wise decisions.

What does family values reflect?

Our family values reflect who we are as people and how we parent. Our children acquire life lessons when we explain and embody those ideals. They learn to express themselves, solve difficulties, learn from their mistakes, and acquire other talents and abilities that contribute to a happy life. Parents are also educated. Some parents have been persuaded that grades are the most crucial indicator of their child's progress. While no one can deny that academic learning is essential for success in 21st-century jobs, parents can teach their children so much more via their family values.

How can family values be instilled?

To instill strong family values, you must first choose what values are essential to you and what you want to instill in your children. As a parenting team or with the entire nuclear family, write a family purpose statement. Then, wherever possible, utilise family activities and excellent parenting to reinforce those basic values. When your children accomplish something that supports the ideals you're teaching them, for example, praise them. Recognize that your actions play a significant role in educating others through example. Make holiday and weekend rituals, as well as family routines, that promote the values you consider important. Spend time with your family and hold a family meeting if you need to talk or refocus on something. Having family rules in place allows them to know what to do and how to respond in challenging situations.

Which values must be instilled in kids?

It is very important to teach the significance of respect. Kids should know how to give respect to elders. Secondly, honesty is another value which is to be taught. As it is said, ”Honesty is the best policy.” Make sure your kid doesn’t lie. Empathy and compassion towards all living creatures is what makes a place better to live in. So, instill compassion in toddlers. Start feeding stray animals as this is one way of teaching compassion. Gratitude is another important aspect of life. It is important for everybody to be satisfied/ gratified to be happy. Your kid should be happy with what he has. Positive outlook towards life is another crucial value.

As we gather here, let’s take a moment to appreciate the bond that brings us together. Family isn’t just about sharing DNA – it’s about sharing love, laughter, and memories. So let’s make some new ones today!”

Commentary: This short, upbeat speech is perfect for kicking off a family reunion. It’s ideal for the host or organizer to use as an opening welcome.

2. The Grateful Host

“Good afternoon, family! I can’t tell you how happy I am to see you all here. When we started planning this reunion, we hoped for a good turnout, but you’ve exceeded our wildest expectations.

I want to thank each and every one of you for making the effort to come. Some of you traveled across the country, some across town, but all of you chose to be here today. That means the world to us.

As we enjoy this day together, let’s catch up with old friends, make new connections, and celebrate the incredible family we’re all part of. The food is ready, the games are set up, and the day is young. Let’s make it one to remember!”

Commentary: This medium-length speech works well for a host addressing a larger gathering. It expresses gratitude and sets a positive tone for the day’s activities.

3. The Family Historian

“Hi, everyone. For those who don’t know me, I’m Sarah, and I’ve taken on the role of our family’s unofficial historian. Today, I’d like to share a bit about our family’s journey.

Our story begins in 1920 when Great-Grandpa John and Great-Grandma Mary stepped off a boat in New York Harbor. They had nothing but a suitcase and a dream. From those humble beginnings, look at us now – doctors, teachers, artists, and everything in between.

But it’s not just our accomplishments that make our family special. It’s the way we’ve stuck together through thick and thin. It’s the holiday dinners where we laugh until our sides hurt. It’s the way we rally around each other in tough times.

As we gather here today, let’s honor those who came before us and laid the foundation for our family. And let’s commit to carrying forward their legacy of love, hard work, and togetherness.

Here’s to our past, our present, and our future. Here’s to family!”

Commentary: This longer speech is great for someone who wants to share family history at a reunion. It’s particularly suitable for larger, multi-generational gatherings.

4. The Lighthearted Roast

“Hey there, family! It’s great to see everyone. And by everyone, I mean everyone – including Cousin Bob, who we all thought was just a myth since he never shows up to these things. Welcome, Bob!

You know, looking around, I can’t help but think about how much we’ve all changed since the last reunion. Uncle Mike, I see you’ve finally embraced the bald look – good choice! And Aunt Linda, still rocking those 80s perms, huh? Some things never change!

But seriously, folks, it’s amazing to see how our family has grown and evolved. We’ve got new babies, new partners, and even a few new hips and knees in the mix. But no matter how much we change on the outside, we’re still the same crazy, loving family on the inside.

So let’s raise a glass to family – the people who know all your embarrassing stories and love you anyway. Cheers!”

Commentary: This short, humorous speech is perfect for breaking the ice at a family reunion. It works best when delivered by someone known for their sense of humor and when the family dynamic allows for gentle teasing.

5. The Emotional Tribute

“Good evening, everyone. As I stand here looking at all your faces, I’m overwhelmed with emotion. Some of you I see every week, some I haven’t seen in years, but all of you hold a special place in my heart.

Today, I want to talk about what family means to me. Family is the hand that helps you up when you fall. It’s the voice on the other end of the phone at 2 AM when you need someone to talk to. It’s the people who cheer the loudest for your successes and cry with you through your failures.

I think about Grandma Rose, who’s no longer with us but whose spirit lives on in every kind word we speak and every home-cooked meal we share. I think about little Tommy, the newest addition to our family, and the hope and joy he represents.

Family is our past, our present, and our future. It’s the thread that connects us all, no matter where life takes us. As we enjoy this reunion, let’s cherish these moments together. Let’s strengthen our bonds and create memories that will last a lifetime.

Thank you all for being here, for being you, and for being my family. I love you all.”

Commentary: This heartfelt, medium-length speech is suitable for a family member who wants to express deep emotion at a reunion. It’s particularly appropriate for milestone reunions or when the family has recently experienced significant events.

6. The Reminiscing Retiree

“Well, hello there, you bunch of troublemakers! You know, seeing all of you together like this takes me back. Way back.

I see Tommy over there and I remember the time he got his head stuck in the stair railings. Took us three hours and a tub of butter to get him out! And there’s Lisa – remember when you decided to give yourself a haircut the night before school pictures? Your mom nearly had a heart attack!

But you know what? Those moments, as crazy as they were, are what make our family special. We’ve laughed together, cried together, and sometimes wanted to strangle each other. But at the end of the day, we’re always there for each other.

Now that I’m retired, I have plenty of time to sit back and think about all these memories. And let me tell you, I wouldn’t trade them for anything in the world.

So here’s to making more memories today. Who knows? Maybe we’ll look back at this reunion in a few years and laugh about how Uncle Joe fell into the pool or how the dog ran off with the turkey. Whatever happens, I’m just glad to be here with all of you.”

Commentary: This medium-length speech is perfect for an older family member who wants to share memories and add a touch of humor. It’s ideal for a relaxed, informal reunion setting.

7. The Next Generation Speaker

“Hi everyone, I’m Jake, and at 16, I might be one of the youngest people giving a speech today. But don’t worry, I’ll keep it short – I know there’s food waiting!

Growing up in this family has been quite an adventure. From the epic water balloon fights at summer barbecues to the intense board game showdowns during holiday gatherings, there’s never a dull moment.

But beyond the fun and games, what I’ve learned most from all of you is the importance of support and love. When I decided to join the school play last year, even though I’d never acted before, you all showed up on opening night. I saw you there, taking up three rows, cheering louder than anyone else.

That’s what family is about. It’s about having people in your corner, no matter what. As I look towards the future, heading to college in a couple of years, I know I’ll always have this incredible support system behind me.

So, thank you. Thank you for the laughs, the love, and for showing me what it means to be part of a family. Now, let’s eat!”

Commentary: This short speech from a younger family member offers a fresh perspective at a family reunion. It’s great for showcasing the views of the next generation and bridging the gap between older and younger attendees.

8. The Family Recipe Keeper

“Hello, family! Before we dig into this amazing spread, I wanted to say a few words about the food – and about us.

You see, every dish here tells a story. That lasagna? That’s Great-Grandma Sophia’s recipe, brought over from Italy. The secret ingredient? A pinch of love in every layer. And those cookies? Aunt Betty’s famous chocolate chip delights. She guarded that recipe like Fort Knox, but finally shared it with us all before she passed.

Food has always been at the center of our family gatherings. It’s not just about filling our stomachs – it’s about filling our hearts. When we make these dishes, we’re not just following recipes. We’re keeping memories alive. We’re passing down traditions.

Each time we gather like this, we add new recipes to our family cookbook. New dishes, new memories, new stories to tell. So as we enjoy this meal together, let’s savor more than just the flavors. Let’s savor the love, the history, and the connections that these dishes represent.

And who knows? Maybe someday, your great-grandchildren will be enjoying your famous potato salad and telling stories about you. So eat up, enjoy, and keep those family recipes alive!”

Commentary: This medium-length speech is perfect for a family member known for their cooking or for someone who wants to highlight the importance of food traditions in the family. It’s ideal for a reunion centered around a meal or potluck.

9. The Long-Distance Traveler

“G’day, everyone! For those who don’t know me, I’m your long-lost cousin from Down Under. It’s been a long journey to get here – 20 hours on a plane, three layovers, and a cab ride where I’m pretty sure the driver thought Australia was in Europe. But you know what? Every minute of that journey was worth it to be here with you all today.

Living on the other side of the world, it’s easy to feel disconnected. But this family has a way of bridging that gap. Whether it’s the video calls on holidays, the endless stream of baby photos and wedding invitations on social media, or the care packages full of American snacks that mysteriously show up on my doorstep, you’ve always made me feel like I’m right here with you.

Being here today, seeing how much everyone has changed and yet somehow stayed exactly the same, it hits me just how special this family is. We’re spread across the globe, living different lives, and yet when we come together like this, it’s like no time has passed at all.

So here’s to family – the ones who make you feel at home, even when you’re 10,000 miles away. The ones who love you, no matter what time zone you’re in. I may not get to see you as often as I’d like, but know that you’re always in my heart.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to go grab some of that potato salad before my jet lag kicks in and I fall asleep face-first in it. Cheers, mates!”

Commentary: This longer speech is perfect for a family member who has traveled a long distance for the reunion. It touches on themes of connection despite physical distance and is suitable for large family gatherings with relatives from far and wide.

10. The Family Unity Speech

“Good afternoon, everyone. As I look around this room, I’m struck by the incredible array of individuals that make up our family. We come from different backgrounds, have different beliefs, and lead different lives. But we’re united by something stronger than our differences – our love for each other.

In today’s world, it’s easy to focus on what divides us. But here, in this space, we choose to celebrate what brings us together. We choose to listen to each other’s stories, to support each other’s dreams, and to love each other unconditionally.

Our family isn’t perfect. We’ve had our share of disagreements and misunderstandings. But we’ve also had countless moments of joy, laughter, and shared triumph. We’ve supported each other through tough times and celebrated each other’s successes.

As we enjoy this reunion, let’s renew our commitment to each other. Let’s promise to stay connected, to be there for one another, and to continue building this beautiful family of ours. Because at the end of the day, there’s nothing more important than the love we share.

Thank you all for being here, for being part of this family, and for making it as wonderful as it is. Here’s to many more years of love, laughter, and togetherness!”

Commentary: This longer, more formal speech is suitable for addressing themes of family unity and togetherness. It’s appropriate for larger family reunions, especially in times when the family may have faced challenges or divisions.

Marriage and Love

Cornerstone Collections:

Cornerstone Collections

“The Family: A Proclamation to the World” from The Church of Jesus Christ beautifully teaches about marriage and love. It states that “marriage between man and woman is essential to [God’s] eternal plan.” This teaching about marriage is core to the doctrine of the Church. It even traces back to Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, where God commanded them to remain together.

Members of the Church of Jesus Christ believe that families can be together forever, not just on earth. Being together forever is possible when a husband and wife are married and sealed together for time and eternity. Sealing happens in sacred temples and puts an end to “till death do us part.” Marriage and love are some of the most significant sources of joy and happiness in this life, and working through trials can significantly help couples grow in charity and love. Church president Russell M. Nelson has said, “There is great power in a strong partnership. True partners can achieve more than the sum of each acting alone” (“Disciples of Jesus Christ—Defenders of Marriage,” August 14, 2014).

When dating, remember that a healthy relationship is an equal partnership between two people willing to sacrifice for each other. Real love is more than mutual attraction; love that forms a lasting relationship needs a well-established foundation. We can build a good foundation through respect, forgiveness, and hard work. Remember President Boyd K. Packer’s advice in your search for marriage and love: avoid temptation and feelings of pride. Instead, “seek the pure, eternal love that God has in store for [us]” (“Eternal Love,” November 3, 1963).

“As I Have Loved You”: Agency-Based Love in Dating and Marriage

How Can I Love Someone Unconditionally?

A single red rose placed upon scattered book pages.

Sometimes patience with a significant other can run thin. Whether you’ve gotten into an argument or you just don’t see why your partner can’t put their dishes in the sink, you may find yourself asking, “How am I supposed to love this person unconditionally ?” To answer this, we need not look further than the perfect example of unconditional love: Heavenly Father. Despite all our weaknesses and shortcomings, God loves us no matter what. When we love others unconditionally, we do just that—we love them  no matter what .  While this doesn’t mean you should let your partner’s erroneous actions go unchecked, it does mean  that  you should recognize the eternal potential in your partner. Try to see them as God sees them—as a being capable of repentance and growth. In doing so, you will find that your love for them and patience with them will increase.

New and Everlasting Covenant of Marriage

How Can I Tell if I Should Marry the Person I’m Dating?

A bride and groom embracing on their wedding day, excited their new life together.

Deciding to marry is one of the biggest commitments you will ever make, so how can you know if the person you are dating is the “right” one for you?  As  Bruce A. Chadwick explained ,  “To most of us Heavenly Father says, ‘There are  thousands  .  . .  who are worthy to enter my house and covenant to be your eternal mate. You pick one you like who is worthy, and I will give you my blessing’ ” (“ Hanging Out, Hooking Up, and Celestial Marriage ,” May  7 , 2002).

I f  you both   are  committed to each other and to living according to the gospel of Jesus Christ ,   t hen go to the Lord in prayer. Ask Him to help you understand His will. He will send the Holy Ghost to help you feel peace and assurance about whether the person you are dating will be a good marriage partner for you, and you for them.

How Do I Love My Spouse When Our Marriage Is on the Rocks?

All couples face challenges in love and marriage. Contention  can spout from innocent differences in opinion or from situations of greater weight, such as financial problems. Whatever the cause, husbands and wives can work together to overcome any challenge when they remember that their marriage is a sacred covenant and responsibility.

Ultimately you have the power to choose how you will react when things aren’t going well in your marriage. Will you respond to your spouse with anger, frustration, and bitterness? Or will you react with patience, love, and humility? As President Boyd   K. Packer said, “An eternal marriage is worth every effort it requires” (“ Eternal Marriage , ”  April  14,  1970  ).  So  don’t give up. As you pray for guidance, the Lord will bless you with an increase of love for your spouse and the strength to overcome your trials.

What Are Some Characteristics of a Healthy Relationship?

Photo of a park and a park bench at night with romantic bistro lights strung up.

While a quick scroll through Instagram might convince you otherwise, there is no such thing as a perfect relationship. There are, however, a few characteristics that are common in healthy relationships. Some of those characteristics are trust, good communication, compromise, and honesty. Above all else, a relationship is healthiest when partners keep their covenants with each other and God. There is no better way for two people to draw closer together in love and unity than for both to keep the commandments, serve others, and strengthen their individual testimonies of the gospel of Jesus Christ. If you find that your relationship is unsteady or failing, remember this quote from Elder Holland: “You want capability, safety, and security in dating and romance, in married life and eternity? Be a true disciple of Jesus” (“ How Do I Love Thee? ” February 15, 2000).

Poems on Family Love: Celebrating the Unbreakable Bonds of Family

Our family is the proverbial egg that we were hatched from. Everything about who we are, both our nature and nurture comes from our family. Often in western society, we stray far from our family and may not talk to them for years at a time. We may feel that we have nothing in common with them. We may choose to run away from our roots because they are too painful to face. Ultimately however, our past holds the key to our future. If we do not face where we come from, we will have difficulty understanding our present and future.

Bible Verses about Family Love

Bible Verses about Family Love

What does the Bible say about family love? Both the New and Old Testament teach the importance of family unity and love. God created the family unit as a source of growth, strength, and love. Through both challenging and joyful seasons, we can learn to love our family better.

May you find encouragement and inspiration from these Scriptures about family love. Let's pray: Dear God, we ask Your Holy Spirit to surround us with Your love. May we be filled to the brim with love, that it may overflow and we may share it with our families. Allow us to be instruments of Your blessings to them. How strong our bonds are with our families depends on You, Lord. Which is why we ask You to always be the center of our family relationships. Enable our families to be as a triple-braided cord that cannot easily be broken. Let Your Spirit fill our hearts so we can love each other just as Christ loves us. Amen."

Family is always there for you

Your family may drive you crazy at times, but at the end of the day, your family members are your first friends. You can always count on your relatives to have your back and watch out for you when you need it the most.

Families love you unconditionally, no matter the disagreements and arguments you’ve had in the past. It’s truly inspirational to know that you have a loving group of people, ready to care for you at all times.

Family love at home

There’s nothing more important than developing a sense of home. If you don’t feel like you belong, you’ll spend your entire life looking for a welcoming community where you feel like yourself.

Connecting with your family will help you realize the support of your loved ones when you need it the most. We never know how much time we will have to spend with our family. We are certain to regret the things we did not do more than the things we did do.

Take time to show your family love and you will receive that love back in spades. Share experiences and make memories so you can look back on your life with happiness and fulfillment.

The importance of a family unit

Being a part of a family provides us with a bigger purpose and allows us to see beyond ourselves. When we can look out and see the roles that other people play in our lives, we’re actually improving our own sense of self-worth.

Developing our familial relationships allows us to identify our own strengths and weaknesses more clearly. Learning to love your family helps you learn how to better love yourself.

Even when you’re feeling like you’re at your lowest, your family members will still be there for you. ‘Family love’ quotes and sayings help us remember that our loved ones will consistently have our backs.

Count on your family

There are many people we meet who will come and go in our lives. We may move, change jobs, or transition to a new phase of life. Friends may come and go throughout these changes, but we can be certain to count on our family to be with us no matter what we are facing in life.

There’s nothing more powerful or potent than the love of a relative. Family love quotes help us remember the things that are truly important in life—our relationships with our mothers, fathers, sisters and brothers—or the ones with our partner and children.

In life we will have days of anxiety and we may carry many burdens, but when we spend time at home—whether your childhood home or the home you’ve made for yourself—we can let our cares melt away. We feel a sense of calm and comfort surrounded by the ones we get to spend our lives with.

I love my family quotes

‘I love my family’ quotes prove to be a wonderful way to remember how important family is for our wellbeing.

Some of the best quotes on family love help us realize its true importance. Without family love, it’s nearly impossible to connect with people on personal and professional levels. If you’re struggling, reach out to your relatives first!

It’s also important to regularly ask your family about ways that you can love and support them. Consistently try to connect with your loved ones and make a genuine effort to directly or indirectly support their daily needs and help them .

Almost all of the world’s wisest agree—love is the key element to a healthy family. Quotes on family love teach us all about the importance of loving our relatives unconditionally.

Sometimes it’s challenging to love your family

The truth is, sometimes it’s challenging to love your family. It may require you to look past their faults and set aside some aspects of your own ego. Learning how to get past your pride, however, will allow you to improve your relationships throughout your life.

Throughout the entirety of your life, your family will likely be the greatest gift you ever receive. Short quotes on family love can provide us with small, daily reminders that our family is a blessing.

Family and a sense of happiness

There are many things in life that provide us with a sense of happiness, but the greatest joy we feel is the joy that we share with family. As we look back at life’s memories we are certain to remember the ones with family as some of the happiest, most uplifting ones we have.

It’s often hard to find words to describe the way you feel about your loved ones. That’s why it’s special to be aware of the small, silent moments where you can wordlessly communicate the way that you feel about your loved ones.

Strong family relationships stand the test of time. The people we invest in will be there to guide and support us throughout our lives. The strength of these relationships is able to withstand even the greatest of life’s battles. Our family brings us hope and peace when we feel lost and afraid.

Family love through the years

Nobody will ever love you in the same way that your relatives do. That’s why we can look to inspirational family love quotes to help us remember the very important role our family members play in each of our lives. Reading through some wise sayings can help us put our familial relationships into perspective and appreciate their true value.

Like any relationship, the bonds you share with your family members and loved ones need to be developed and cared for over time. There’s nothing more important than regularly communicating your feelings and needs to your family members. You can’t expect them to support you if they don’t understand the issues that are giving you grief.

The richness of a healthy family bond and love

You can accumulate wealth, possessions, and prestige—but none of it will ever compare to the richness of a healthy family bond. ‘My family love’ quotes help us remember what’s truly important in life—the love of our family members.

If you’re struggling to get through a challenging day, just think back on all of the blessings you have in the form of your family members.

The love we have for the members of our family is like nothing else we will experience in life. These inspirational people share so much of their hearts with us, and these ‘I love my family’ quotes provide us with a chance to reflect on how lucky we are to have them in our own lives.

We hope you were inspired by the above family love quotes, which are part of our quotes about family series.

Look at Your Loved Ones

By Kelly Roper

When family are gathered 'round There's so much love in the air. If you ever wonder who has your back, Just look at your loved ones there.

We Are Family

We are family, Not just because we share blood, But because we share a bond Built from abiding love.

The Thing About Family...

The thing about family is, You may not always like them, But you're always going to love them. It just might take a little while sometimes To remember that.

Poems About the Meaning of Family

What's your idea of family ? When you really think about it, there's no perfect answer, but one of these poems may cover it for you.

Family Means Different Things

Family means different things to different people.

To some, family means mom, dad and the kids. To others, family means single parents doing the job of two to make a home. To some, family means living with grandparents too. To others, family is the aunt or uncle who has stepped up to fill in for parents. To some, family means two moms or two dads growing a family together. To others, family means two people multiplying their love through adoption. To some, family is limited to blood relations. To others, family includes friends who are there through thick and thin. To some, family is all about the people in their lives. To others, pets are considered family members too.

Yes, family means different things to different people, But every family has one thing in common, and that's love.

Family Means Everything

F amily members A re the people who M ake life worth living. I n good times and bad, L ove them first and last because Y our family means everything.

What Family Means to Me

To me, family means :

I will never be truly alone, and I'll always have a place to call home. I have people who know the real me, And they still love me even if we disagree. Though sometimes we may fuss and fight, In the end everything will be all right Because families forgive each other no matter what. That's just the way it is, no ifs, ands, or buts. Family stays true all the way down the line, And I couldn't live without these people of mine. Yes, this is what family means to me, If this rings true for you, then I'm sure you agree.

Poems About Family Love and Support

A family is made up of people who are there for you when you need them, especially in challenging times. That support comes in many forms as these poems will show.

Family Tree

By Alison Jean Thomas

It seems strange to me That a family tree is drawn from the top of the page. Instead, draw mine with roots deeply planted in firm ground Like forefathers, whose stories retold, Nourish us. Draw the trunk giving support and power, Strongly branching out So that young shoots can reach high And buds, Some yet unfurled, May catch dreams in sunlight.

Exhibitions of Love

A pat on the hand, A peck on the cheek, A slap on the back, A hug. No need to speak. Family love is all around Like air in a room Invisible but always present.

Family: A soft and gentle word for something strong, A foundation to stand upon when things go wrong, A place built through years Of squabbles and tears, Of laughter and joy, And of love.

Family: Those who know you deep inside, Who can see beyond bravado and pride, Who'll pick you up each time you fall, With love made from memories of when you were small, The people who know your worst and your best They're the loved ones with whom you're blessed.

Funny Poems About Family

Sometimes being part of a family means you get to give or receive some good-natured ribbing. Share these poems with family members who will appreciate the humor.

Something Went Wrong in Our Family Tree

Something went wrong in our family tree When I look at you, cousin, it's plain to see. You've got big ears like a chimpanzee, But I guess that backfires 'cause it's the same with me.

Your two front teeth remind me of a rabbit, You should stop munching carrots; it's become a habit. If I want one, I have to move quick and grab it. Come to think of it, your teeth look like mine, dag-nabbit!

Now your eyes look just a little bit screwy, Guess you must have inherited them from Grandpa Louie. But my eyes are kind of cock-eyed and just a bit droopy, So I quess we've got that in common too, oh poopie!

I think my critique of your appearance is done. Since we look so much alike, it's no longer any fun. I've got one last thing to say in front of everyone, Gosh, you're a good lookin' son-of-a-gun!

Simple Truths About Family

Family, the people you share everything with... Including colds, looks, leftovers, and feuds.

Family, the people you love the most... But pretend not to know when you're out in public together.

Family, the people you can really count on... To borrow clothes, money, and get on your last nerve.

Family, the people you respect... Even though you'd rather die than let friends find out how crazy they are.

Family, the people you just can't live without ... Even though sometimes you're pretty sure you'd like to give it a try.

Family Likeness

"You're just like them!" they say. And me, I yell, "No way! He's so moody, She's so shrill, His chin juts out, Boy can she shout! His nose is big, And mine's quite small There's no resemblance at all."

But then on days of harmony I find that I agree. Our family is made of different parts, But we're all the same In our hearts.

Poems About Family Bonds

Family bonds are some of the strongest bonds on earth. Think about the things that tie your family together as you read these poems.

Family Webs

Family ties are like spider webs. They are delicate, yet so strong, And if they are broken or destroyed, They can be woven again.

And like a spider web, Those intricate lines stretch out Between all the family's members, Creating a connection that can still be Felt even if not immediately seen.

The best thing about this "family web," Is that it's sticky enough to hold Everyone together and help them feel They have a place where they are loved.

A Family Is Like a Book

A family is very much like a book. You can thumb through the pages and take a look.

Each chapter tells an individual relative's story Of lessons learned through both hardship and glory.

Each page, each chapter, is bound together With the family name embossed on the cover forever.

These tales bind us and tell the story of our family, so We'll pass the book on so future generations will know.

Family Love

A thread of love joins us all; It's flimsy. At times it trembles; Almost breaks. A thread of love joins us all; It's slender And subtle. But when things get rough, It tautens, Becomes tough, And hauls us back together.

Loving Poems About Family Relationships

Moms and dads , sisters and brothers , grandmas and grandpas , and all the rest; your relationship with each family member is unique. Why not celebrate those relationships through poetry?

Like brothers and sisters, But just one degree removed. That's just enough room to keep Sibling rivalry at bay while sharing nearly All the same experiences. Birthdays, weddings, holidays and more; A history filled with family memories Sometimes happy, sometimes sad, And sometimes hilarious. The relationship between cousins Is a special one indeed. It's like being great friends who just Happen to share some DNA. Life without cousins just wouldn't be the same, So I want my cousins to know I love you all.

Uncles and Aunts

Uncles and aunts Are often like second parents. They love you from a little further away, But they step in when the need warrants.

Aunts and uncles Are there when you need them, like When you can't go to mom and dad Because you're worried you'll displease them.

Uncles and aunts Sometimes teach you cool things, Like how to catch a fish, Or crochet something.

Aunts and Uncles Can be quite funny, though. Sometimes they'll share stories Your parents never wanted you to know.

Yes uncles and aunts Make family life richer. So tell them how glad you are That they're in your family picture.

Reveal Your Feelings

In this modern age, speaking sentiments that lie close to the heart often makes people uncomfortable. Let your family know how you feel; reveal your emotions about them by saying it through a poem. Next, be inspired by new relationship poems for someone who just might turn out to be future family to you.

Johnny Gaudreau’s Daughter Noa Shows Off Hockey Skills in Cute Video With Johnny's Sister Katie

Meredith Gaudreau continues to mourn her late husband, NHL star Johnny Gaudreau .

Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, September 24, to share a video of her late brother-in-law, Matthew Gaudreau , making a speech at her September 2021 wedding to Johnny, Meredith wrote that she hoped Matthew would “take care” of Johnny.

“Take care of John for me Matty 🖤🤍 love & miss you both. Give John a big kiss from me 😘😘😘,” she captioned the heartbreaking video.

Johnny and Matthew both died on the evening of August 29 after being struck during a biking accident in Oldmans Township, New Jersey. It had been the night before their sister Katie’s wedding. Johnny was 31 and Matthew was 29.

In Meredith’s video, Matthew is seen taking the mic before sharing heartfelt words with the couple and their guests. “John and myself have been inseparable our whole lives. Any time you saw me, John was right beside. Any time you saw John, I was following along behind him,” Matthew was heard telling the room. “When we got older and we weren’t together because of hockey, we still took care of each other.”

Meredith and Johnny shared two children together: daughter Noa, 23 months, and a son named Johnny Jr., born in February.

Just days after Johnny passed away, Meredith marked what would’ve been the couple’s third anniversary via Instagram. “I never post this much but John deserves it. 3 years ago today I became yours forever,” Meredith captioned the September 4 post. “One of the best days of my life, including the night we got engaged and the days we brought our babies into the world.”

She shared several photos from their wedding and presumably their honeymoon, capturing the couple kneeling during their nuptials, sharing their first dance and relaxing poolside and by the ocean.

Ask a Pediatrician: My Toddler Isn't Hitting His Speech Milestones—What Should I Do?

“there’s a range of normal, not a single data point of normal.”.

Author image: purewow author

“My toddler is babbling consistently but still isn't hitting his speech milestones per the AAP. According to them, he should be asking questions and putting two-word sentences together alraedy! Should I be worried? What should I do?” – Rachel, New Mexico

Along with learning to walk , hearing your child say meaningful words is one of the greatest thrills of parenting little ones. They progress from making sounds to babbling to using words with meaning to speaking in sentences is thrilling and gratifying. It’s one of the topics we talk about with our friends and family, and it’s tempting to “compare” what other children of similar age are doing. I know it’s easier said than done but try not to do this! If you’re reading this and have a child who is starting to make sounds, then you know that not all kids reach a designated milestone on the exact date that the developmental textbooks say they should. There’s a range of normal, not a single data point of normal. So, keep that in mind with speech and language along with everything else. Know that one in five children who are developing typically learn to use words later than their peers. And their speech and language end up just fine.

But what if you’re really starting to feel like your child’s speech is delayed—what then? Let’s walk through some practical steps to navigate this.

First, think beyond just speech and language. Are there other signs that your child may be developing differently? Things like—not making eye contact, recoiling from cuddling or physical touch, not returning a happy smile—can be signals of more global delay, and should be brought to your pediatrician’s attention right away, as early diagnosis of and intervention for are critical in ensuring the best outcome possible.

Physical health should also be considered, as hearing impairment—due to frequent ear infections/fluid accumulation or other reasons can impact speech development significantly. Your pediatrician can assist you with sorting all of this out.

If all of that returns no obvious reason for the delay and it is mild, there are some ways to help speed up speech and language development:

  • Talk to your child! Tell them every single thing you are doing, as you are doing it. It may be mundane to you, but to them it’s a learning opportunity. Live your life out loud. Demonstrate and name things, and encourage your child to say what you say back to you.
  • Read more books out loud to your child. Every chance you get.
  • Consider the amount of electronic device use, if any, and limit/eliminate it, replacing it with more talk time.
  • Is your child a social kid? Consider trying play time with peers who are speaking more- your child may accelerate some speech skills simply out of desire to communicate during play.
  • Talk with your pediatrician about whether or not an evaluation by a certified pediatric speech/language pathologist would be helpful and give you some insight and other strategies to help boost your child’s speech and language.

Mostly, don’t go it alone—there are lots of resources to help so you aren’t starting at square one. Start out by talking to your pediatrician, and keep them in the loop as you proceed. The vast majority of kids who are slightly behind in developing speech and language catch up quite quickly, and before you know it, they’re talking so much you won’t be able to get a word in edgewise.

Speech on Love

Love, a simple four-letter word, yet it holds a world of emotions within. It’s like a warm hug that soothes your heart and a force that moves mountains.

This feeling is not just about romance. It extends to friends, family, and even strangers. A kind smile, a helping hand, that’s love too.

1-minute Speech on Love

Ladies and gentlemen, today I stand before you to talk about a simple yet powerful word – Love. Love is not just a word, it is a feeling that can be as soft as a feather and as strong as a storm.

Love is also about understanding and respect. It’s about listening to each other, even when you disagree. Love is patient, it doesn’t rush. It waits, it understands, it forgives. It’s not just about saying “I love you”, it’s about showing it through your actions every day.

But remember, love is not just for others. It’s also about loving yourself. It’s about treating yourself with kindness and respect. You can’t truly love others until you learn to love yourself. It’s like a flower. You need to water it, give it sunlight, and protect it from harm, so it can bloom and spread its fragrance to the world.

So, let us all promise today to spread love everywhere we go. Let us not just say it, but show it in our actions. Let’s make the world a better place with love. Because love, my friends, is the most beautiful thing in the world.

2-minute Speech on Love

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Let’s talk about love. Love, a simple four-letter word, holds a universe of feelings. It’s like the sun, shining bright, spreading warmth, and making life beautiful. Love is what makes us kind, patient, and understanding. It’s a powerful force that can create miracles.

Think about your family. The people who care for you, who look out for you. Your parents, brothers, sisters, they all love you. They would do anything for you. That’s the magic of love. It makes us brave. It gives us the strength to move mountains if we need to. Love in a family is like the roots of a tree, it keeps us grounded, it gives us our identity.

Now, imagine your friends. People you laugh with, people you share your secrets with. They might not be related to you, but they love you and you love them. Love among friends is like a cool breeze on a hot day. It brings relief, comfort, and joy. It makes life fun. It helps us grow.

Then, there is the love that makes your heart race, that makes you feel butterflies in your stomach. Yes, I am talking about romantic love. When you fall in love, you see the world through rose-colored glasses. Everything seems wonderful. This love is like a beautiful song that you want to keep listening to. It gives life a new meaning.

But love is not always easy. Sometimes it can be tough. Sometimes it can hurt. But even when it hurts, it teaches us. It makes us grow. It makes us better. Like a rainstorm that may be scary but leaves the earth fresh and green, love can bring tears but also joy and growth.

Lastly, let’s not forget about self-love. The love you have for yourself. This love is like a mirror. It shows you who you really are. It helps you understand yourself. It makes you strong. It helps you to love others better.

So, let’s celebrate love. Let’s cherish it. Let’s spread it. Because love can change the world. It can bring peace. It can bring happiness.

Prince Harry’s Family Speech Is Also Aimed at His and Meghan’s Haters

As speculation buzzes about Harry and Meghan’s week-long separation, Harry included his family in a New York speech after he was spotted making a video call to his wife and kids.

Prince Harry has publicly reinforced his status as a family man and his commitment to his children in a moving address in New York Tuesday, pushing back against narratives by some critics hinting that he was happy to be spending a week away from his family.

In a speech at the Clinton Global Initiative promoting his and Meghan Markle’s charity the Parents Network, which seeks to protect children from harm from social media, Harry said that his own phone had a lock screen of his children, saying: “My lock screen is a picture of my kids, what is yours?”

The screen behind him then filled with screen grabs of lock screen pictures of children who had died after taking their own life after social media bullying.

Harry continued: “These children and thousands more, meant the world to their families. The beautiful faces you see before you, their smiles, their dreams, all lost, all too soon and all because of social media. It is why we launched the Parents Network, a global community that provides crucial support to parents whose children have suffered from the harmful effects of social media.”

The deliberate inclusion of his own family in the speech came the day after he was spotted making a video call to his wife and kids in a semi-public setting Monday.

Harry made the call Monday from an event space at the Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel before going on stage with winners of the Diana Award, which recognises outstanding achievements of young people.

Diana Legacy Award winner Chiara Riyanti Hutapea Zhang, 18, told People magazine: “Backstage, he was actually calling Meghan. I thought that was just so sweet, and it helped humanize him. He made sure we had no nerves at all.”

The outlet added that Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3, were on the call also.

Both the call and today’s mention of his kids might have been carefully curated to rebuke some of their most hostile critics on social media, who have had a fresh opportunity to sell the narrative of a divided couple this week when Harry began a week long stint apart from his wife.

For almost any other busy married couple to spend a week apart would not be worthy of note, but when it’s Meghan and Harry, any physical separation triggers a tsunami of speculation.

When it emerged last year that Harry had spent the occasional night at an LA hotel, staying there instead of driving back to Montecito late at night, it provoked a deluge of speculation, without a shred of evidence, that the marriage was in trouble.

Harry is spending the first part of this week in New York, where he is attending UN and Diana Award events, before moving on to London where he will be the guest of honor at the WellChild Awards.

Keir Starmer appears to call for return of 'sausages' from Gaza in Labour conference speech gaffe

Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer appeared to call for the return of “sausages” in a conference speech gaffe on Tuesday.

Speaking about the Israel - Gaza conflict to the party faithful, Sir Keir appeared to fluff a line on the return of hostages from Gaza, instead apparently calling for the return of “sausages”.

However, he quickly corrected himself, and called for de-escalation on the border between Israel and Lebanon and for a total ceasefire in Gaza.

He said: “I call again for restraint and de-escalation between Lebanon and Israel. I call again for all parties to pull back from the brink.

“I call again for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, the return of the sausages... the hostages, and a recommitment to the two-state solution, a recognised Palestine and a safe and secure Israel.

“And that's the message I will take to the UN General Assembly when I travel there later today, alongside our steadfast support for Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression."

The Labour leader, speaking as the first Labour Prime Minister since 2010, also criticised those people who "still hanker" for the "weak and cowardly fantasy of populism", saying it is "water off a duck's back" to him.

Minutes later, he was heckled by a protester, saying: “While’s he’s been protesting, we’ve been changing a party, and that’s why we’ve got a Labour government.”

He told delegates at a packed conference hall in Liverpool that “change has begun”.

He added: "Make no mistake, the work of change has begun. The patient, calm, determined era of politics as service has begun".

Sir Keir promised that the Government would address an "injustice hiding in plain sight", the issue of homeless veterans.

"We cannot stand by and let this happen anymore," he said.

He listed action including reforming planning, ending the doctors' strike, launching Great British Energy - which he confirmed would be based in Aberdeen - and a plan to nationalise the railways as an indication of his Government delivering on the promises made.

"And we're only just getting started," he said.

"A crackdown on knife crime. A real living wage. A modern industrial strategy. A 10-year plan for our NHS.

"Devolution to our nations, regions and cities. The biggest levelling up of workers' rights in a generation.

"More teachers. More neighbourhood police. More operations. Rebuilding our public services.

"Change has begun."
