Fast Response

Live Plan team responded to my query promptly, with such unmatched service. I communicated with them via live chat and through their email address. In all instances they were always willing to answer and respond to all my questions. I highly recommend their services. In 2016 I used Live Plan to do an insurance agency business business plan. The business plan was accepted by the insurance company and they eventually gave me a contract to market their product offerings. That's why I am back again in 2024 to enjoy all features of Live Plan. I love the premium plan. It has all the features needed to create a good business plan. Gaborone, Botswana

Great app and great support

Great app and great support. Solved the problem in under 10 seconds literally.

Date of experience : July 09, 2024

Much easier than I expected

I prepared the business plan using the examples and aids in each step. The financial statements were pretty easy and the built-in formula capabilities helped a lot. I just wrote down what we wanted to do, and then I explained why. LivePlan prompted me with each step - and I saved the executive summary for last.

Amazing platform and support!

The LivePlan crew and platform is amazing! Support is responsive to any questions or concerns, and constantly looking for ways to improve and upgrade the platform. And, then providing training to ensure we know how to use it to it's fullest potential. Always staying one step ahead and innovative! Thank you for all you do to support the clients you serve!

LivePlan Makes Planning Less Complicated

We often use LivePlan with businesses that come to us for assistance preparing business plans and financial forecasts. LivePlan works great in these situations where the client does not have experience in such matters. The LivePlan software can walk them through the process without a lot of coaching from us.

Date of experience : June 04, 2024

Thanks so much for your review Duane, we're happy to hear LivePlan has been supportive to you and the clients you work with!

Great for small business owners!

Overall, I think LivePlan is great! It's super easy to use and intuitive and makes creating a business plan so much easier for anyone from a beginner to a seasoned business person. I do use the Nonprofit template a lot in my work and my one piece of feedback would be to update the instructions in each section to better align with nonprofits. The instructions are worded for businesses which is a little confusing and not as helpful for nonprofits.

Jenny, we appreciate your feedback and will be sure to pass your idea onto our product team!

Fast and quick way to get a business plan created

I like the format as to the sequence of sections. I would like more leeway as to adding graphs/importing graphs created in other software. And the Chat GPT is far superior than the AI enhancement tool provided.

Date of experience : May 31, 2024

Charlie, thank you for your review and we'll be sure to pass along your feedback to our product team.

Intuitive, user friendly and comprehensive. You only need to provide inputs and the software will translate it into graphs and important data points. Genius

As a business advisor

As a business advisor, I consistently recommend LivePlan to my clients for writing their business plans. Its user-friendly, tutorial guided, AI supported platform makes it easy to quickly create high quality professional business plans that are used by my clients to secure critical funding. Live Plan allows me to scale the services I provide and increases the ability of my clients to achieve their goals.

Thanks for your review Anwar!

Prof who Loves LivePlan

Very happy professor here. I've used the software to help hundreds of students write business plans in my entrepreneurship and small business management class. I've received top-notch instructional suppport, tailored help for course-specific needs, and warm receptivity to feature requests.

Russ, we appreciate you and your feedback. Thanks so much.

Amazing UI and easy to use

Greedy policy makes me sick.

They use refund only as a sales strategy but never to satisfy a customer. I have realized inside in 24hrs that i forgot and sticked to premium instead of standard one. When i reach to them for a downgrade refund they say they can't do that. I should be able to get a refund if i let them know in less than 48 hours. I was their customer for 3-4 months but this approach is not acceptable, so looking for new alternatives. Hope it worths to lose a customer for only a 20$ for a service im not using.

Liveplan is very basic and simlple so…

Liveplan is very basic and simlple so simple you can't do basic control over forecast in taxes and dividends. It lets you add pictures but it can't handle that as well giving you errors when you try to download it later. Very buggy and will take your time away from you, thinking it is going good then to find out one of their many shortcomings ends up costing you twice as much work as you have put in. They are deceitful saying they have a number, it only directs you to recorded prompts telling you to email them. I reached out to support and they informed me that your forecast doesn't do several things that I needed to do so they admitted that your app falls short on many Financial aspects that are very regular to getting an investor I am now have to pay extra to somebody else to get this corrected and it is now delayed everything else because of this your services have ended up costing me more problems than helping me I feel bad for the other people that have to go through this experience. The only option your support told me I had was to pay you guys $500 to fix it.

Date of experience : April 20, 2024

Hi there MR, we're sorry to hear about your experience using LivePlan. You shouldn't have experienced any bugs that would've caused you to have to increase the amount of work you put into your plan. Our customer support team happily addresses any bugs or troubleshooting as needed but nonetheless we'd love to make it up to you. Please reach out to our support team here: https://www.liveplan.com/contact-us

They tell you it is only £12 a month…

They tell you it is only £12 a month which is a real good deal so I sign up and they charge me for the full 12 months £113.88 it is a very shady move with no transparency. Let your customers know exactly what they are going to pay rather than trying to suck people dry.

Date of experience : January 05, 2024

Hi there Keale, we're never trying to "suck people dry" with the pricing of our product but we do offer a monthly and annual subscription to the software. It sounds like perhaps there was some confusion there and we're really sorry about that.

Tell you it's $20

Tell you it's $20 - $30 monthly depending on the plan you selected. They charged my card for the entire $360 upfront. I had to submit for a refund.

Date of experience : March 13, 2024

K, we're sorry to hear there was some confusion about our monthly/annual subscriptions. We offer a pay-as-you go, and pay upfront pricing option. We hope our support team was able to help, but if not - please reach out to them here: https://www.liveplan.com/contact-us

5 on 5 as they really deserve it

5 on 5 as they really deserve it. I couldn't ask for more. PS you just need to invest some time to understand how it works but this is not related to them while it is related to the BP itself

Date of experience : September 05, 2022

Thank you for your review Abby - we're so glad to hear you're enjoying LivePlan!

LivePlan is a professional tool able to…

LivePlan is a professional tool able to customize and design a perfect business plan by including financial projections. It provides the opportunity to download the final file in DOCX and PDF formats. The unique weaknesses are the no opportunity to export the projections into Excel-based formats.

Date of experience : April 28, 2020

Hi there Alessandro, we wanted to share that we heard your feedback and you are now able to export to .csv. You can read more about this feature here: https://help.paloalto.com/hc/en-us/articles/115000939951-Moving-your-forecast-figures-into-Excel

LivePlan Reviews

What LivePlan review would be complete without customer testimonials? Below is a sampling of the huge growing reservoir of feedback from happy users. We didn’t cherry-pick either, as you’ll see on Shopper Approved , a third-party customer review site where LivePlan scores a 4.8/5. As of 2023, LivePlan now has over 1,500 customer reviews on Shopper Approved.

According to many LivePlan reviews, there’s some serious value in the business plan software. Customers often mention how LivePlan helps entrepreneurs and small businesses better manage, prioritize, and present a successful business plan. In regard to the non-5 star reviews, the main issue people are having is the overall LivePlan pricing, which is understandable if you’re starting a business on a budget.

“This was a wonderful tool for creating my business plan. I was overwhelmed by all of the online templates that offered no real guidelines for completing my plan. Liveplan was simple to navigate and offered “real life” examples in each section of the plan builder. I completed my plan quickly and now have a professional document that I am thrilled with! ”
“LivePlan was a great tool to use for building a Business Plan. It helped me, as a first-time business plan writer – because it outlined all the sections of the plan and gave detailed instructions and examples for each part. The financials part was great because it automatically generated graphs and charts for the financial planning of my company. ”
“LivePlan was a life-saver for me. I work for a non-profit whose potential funders require a business plan. I had no idea what a business plan looked like or even where to start, when I found LivePlan, I knew I hit the jackpot. With the examples, samples, and easy plug-in information areas, we wrote a plan that not only looks professional but meets all of the needs of the organization and our funders. I couldn’t be more grateful for everything LivePlan did for me/us. I will use LivePlan again for any other business plans I write and will certainly recommend them. Thank you LivePlan! ”
“It’s by far one of the best business plan software products that I’ve come to find. It’s very self-explanatory and user friendly. I would recommend Liveplan to anyone looking for a comprehensive business plan maker which needs to impress and get the results you are looking to achieve. ”

LivePlan also features several verified customer reviews on its website. Here are a couple more examples:

“LivePlan has reinvented business planning. It’s the only tool that helps entrepreneurs track their progress with a unique dashboard specifically designed for small business.”
“I needed to write a business plan for my investors. I was going nuts trying to create charts and properly format them. Then a friend recommended LivePlan! The financials were so easy to use and I liked knowing the calculations were all correct.”
“I didn’t only get value for the money paid but also got the best customer service experience as well. And of course, I’m sticking to LivePlan forever.”

  • LivePlan Reviews

Palo Alto Software is not an accredited business with the Better Business Bureau and has a D-rating. They have no customer reviews on the BBB website, but they do have a few complaints. The complaints revolved around issues with cancellation and getting a refund, as well as unauthorized re-activation of an account and getting un-authorized charges.

Here are some positive reviews from LivePlan users:

LivePlan is my primary financial forecasting and issue raising tool. I build out annual Pro-forma in Q4 with detailed revenue and expense category forecasts. The ability to build revenue and expense forecasts by category and the appropriate level of detail is highly useful. Monthly, and especially quarterly, we can see if and where we are off track relative to original goals and make necessary adjustments in the business. In my opinion, this is the best tool of its kind for business owners/operators. Well done. – Jason Ogden, President

LivePlan has been a key product in our company when dealing with planning of our company business. It makes it easy for us to keep our entire business enterprise organized for better productivity. More to planning, it offers us an outstanding platform for budgeting, keeping a track of our business progress a d performance as well as doing accurate forecasts on the future of our business. It has made it possible for us to simplify the planning and funding various business projects aimed at promoting the agility and the productivity of our business. – Mariana Jones, National Key Account Manager- Fleet Sales

I started my startup consultancy in 1997. Soon after, I bought my first Palo Alto Business Plan Pro disc and spent quality time chatting with Tim about how helpful the financial section was. Since then, I have recommended this program MANY times and am thrilled to be able to recommend it again to whoever reads this review. Live Plan is wonderful, convenient, and worth every penny! – Victoria D.

Live Plan was perfect for my needs – it helped me shape my strategic plan and think through my start-up capital requirements and revenue projections. I loved that it gave me some industry benchmarks and suggested budget items (like employee payroll liabilities) I hadn’t thought of. The templates were also very helpful to show me what a plan should look like. – Laurie S.

Here’s a selection of constructive feedback from LivePlan users:

Where the product really falls down is when you want to compare with Actuals. It only connects to Xero and Quick Books and you have no control over the data or time period that it syncs at all – current year plus last two years, which is rubbish if your business has pivoted and you only want the last six months data for example. Whats worse is you cant roll back the sync – you have to manually delete all sync’d data. Further if you dont use Xero or QBooks, there is no option to import from a spreadsheet – so again you need a data entry person to manually enter actual data unless you want to spend ages doing it yourself… Very disappointed as up to this point had liked the platform. – Lucy B.

Generally going out 5 years is more than fine with projections. However, we did have a situation where we brought a new division in 2 years later and we need to combine it with the original plan and would have liked it going 6 or even 7 years. – Reid J.

EXCELLENT PRODUCT

Farm setup business plan

I like the reviews form the pitch and the task reminders some days before it is to happen. It is simple t use if one just follows every direction and guide provided.

You can only work online. If it can be designed in such a way that you work offline and then upload online, that would be nice. Anyway that's my thought.

Good for planning and forecasting, rubbish at Actuals to compare performance against plan

Checked my business plan was viable, helped me clarify my thought processes. Gave me something to measure performance against. Unfortunately doesnt integrate to Zoho Books (as of March 2018), nor is there any opton to import from a CSV or other spreadsheet format. If you are a Xero or QB user you can link to get your actuals for comparison against plan, BUT proceed with caution. You cant undo the data import - everything needs deleting manually, and you cant choose which timeframe you import data for. Its last 2 years plus current year and thats that. So if your business has changed significantly and you only want say last six months dat you cant achieve this

Cloud based, easy step by step process for planning for novices. Once you have put in the basics of revenue streams and costs its very easy to play "what if" type questions and see the impact on your forecast. You can get into enormous detail if you want or build this up over time as you develop your thought process.

Where the product really falls down is when you want to compare with Actuals. It only connects to Xero and Quick Books and you have no control over the data or time period that it syncs at all - current year plus last two years, which is rubbish if your business has pivoted and you only want the last six months data for example. Whats worse is you cant roll back the sync - you have to manually delete all sync'd data. Further if you dont use Xero or QBooks, there is no option to import from a spreadsheet - so again you need a data entry person to manually enter actual data unless you want to spend ages doing it yourself... Very disappointed as up to this point had liked the platform.

Decent enough for SMEs

Overall a good starting point to assist a small business entrepreneur with little or no business planning experience, should consider more options to integrate with accounting apps and visually biased analytical tools to enable better tracking of post planning perfomance on more devices as well.

I like the ease and simplicity of building the projections and adjusting them with different scenarios.

The write up section is a bit limiting in certain aspects for example there are no font selection options if one wants to change to their company document preferred font style ( Century Gothic) as well as set my paragraphs as justified as opposed to left indented.I cannot import tables and adjust them within the plan document, The graphical representations of the projections are a bit visually limited in color and info graphic presentation options .particularly if one wants a more visual document. It would also be nice to have a quick preview option for the document as u build it without necessarily having to export or down load a pdf to get and idea of how it look in print.

Too expensive

Ok to use but when done with the plan, there is not really a reason to keep paying.

Easy to use and good help for creating a Business plan

When you have done the plan it is just there and I have been paying a lot of money for just storing my Business plan for 2 years. Now I have to prioritize what I spend my money on and this is one thing I dont need at the moment.

Thanks for your feedback Jeanette, we appreciate you taking the time to leave it! Many people keep their subscription long term, because they use the Dashboard feature to track their progress, compare their actual results to their plan, and continually update their plan based on what they've learned from experience. LivePlan is a great tool in this regard to manage your business if it is already running, or when you begin operations. LivePlan is also non-contract, so you can use the software for as long as you like, and cancel when you need. So if you need it just to make one plan quickly, you are welcome to cancel when you are finished with no risk. You can also switch a monthly plan to annual billing later to take advantage of the savings offered there if you plan on using it for longer.

LivePlan takes the intimidation out of writing a business plan!

LivePlan is helping my business grow because I am able to stay organized with goals and milestones as we are meeting them. I can see firsthand what is allowing my company to grow and where we need to make changes to be successful.

I really liked working with LivePlan to build a business plan. LivePlan helped me with having a template available to build my business plan upon. I thought writing a business plan would be something I would have to outsource and get help with. LivePlan allowed me to take control of writing and creating my own business plan. I love that I can change and expand my business plan at any time! I can also share my plan with potential investors and feel confident that it is both organized and professional.

I would like if the software would integrate with my accounting software, that way I can see in realtime how my cash flow is cooresponding with my company goals.

Great product to start a business

Very useful in planning, pitching and eventually starting my business. It supported every element from ideation through to detailed p&l & balance sheet for presentation to investors. The software guides you through how to write your proposal/business plan and then helps you formulate and plan all the revenue & costs you need to think about and plan for. Integration with my online accounting software was pretty helpful too.

I found that for my business the options for calculating revenue and cost of sales were clunky - adding support around these elements in terms of how COS are not necessarily all incurred in the months the product is produced. In my case it can take 3 or 4 months to build the final product - incurring costs along the way. Reporting variance against plan with integrated accounting software is clunky.

Thanks for your feedback!

Very Helpful for Founders Like ME

I avoided writing a formal business plan for my new startup until I found LivePlan. The tool's structure made it very easy for me to bring my ideas and notes from other sources and compile them into a more complete and accurate plan. This helped get my team of advisors and early-stage employees on the same page from the beginning.

Putting together the initial Pitch, rather than the entire business plan, made me feel like I could accomplish a critical portion quickly. I still use this Pitch link all of the time. Have also appreciated using the AI tool to expand on my notes and short ideas.

Having LivePlan assist me with writing the plan has been awesome, but it took several weeks to get matched with a writer and kickoff the project.

A business plan software that anybody can use.

A full business plan, and real projections of what is expected to be spent and what is expected to be made. After the projections the actual real numbers show, when conducted right the projections are accurate.

LivePlan is extremely easy to use and straightforward. The options are almost endless. Every aspect of a business plan can easily be addressed and completed with help from the software itself. Everything has an explanation from profit and loss projections to real time profit and loss and that's just one feature. Business summary, analysis, and the executive portfolio are all ready to be put together and turn out very well put together as well as the step by step process of putting together your business plan.

Limitations on time. Liveplan offers three options: 3 year, 5year, and 10 year projections. Unfortunately it is limited to that time frame which disappoints because other than the time frame, just about everything else is customizable.

It has fundamentally changed the way I view my business ventures and it will undoubtedly save me from many cash flow frustrations in the future. Highly recommend.

Logical & progressive layout, detailed instructions, examples. I especially appreciate that so far, I have hardly run into any situation that I could not accurately represent in the business plan because there has always been an appropriate option.

Easy way to keep track of a constantly changing business structure

When we found LivePlan we were looking for an easy way to record our business structure so that we could show it to stakeholders. This application turned out to be a great tool for that task. We enjoyed it enough to where we keep our account going and now we regularly update our structure to make it easier to have conversations with potential investors, our banker, and other stakeholders.

The ability to collaborate sounds nice but the price associated with doing this makes it slightly prohibitive to us at this point. Perhaps in the future when we expand our business and the potential for a spin off becomes viable we might use this feature.

The clever thing to do would be to list the various important elements that need consideration such as key features, budget, skill levels of staff members, company size etc. Then, you should do your research thoroughly. Read some LivePlan Business Intelligence Software reviews and check out each of the other solutions in your shortlist in detail. Such comprehensive research can make certain you discard ill-fitting systems and zero in on the system that presents all the elements you require for business success.

PROS: LivePlan is more than just a tool for mapping out your business plan. It serves as a checklist for all things that I need in one too. As someone who's just starting, this has been really helpful to me.

CONS: Everything works, so far. I haven't noted anything that I don't like about it yet.

Reviewed 4 years ago

The least favorable review

PROS: It gives me pretty accurate financial estimations, for one. Another thing that I like about LivePlan is its straightforward reports and well-integrated dashboard.

CONS: I got a little impatient in answering some of its questions about my business and marketing strategy.

Great for start-ups like me.

PROS: This is the perfect tool for beginners. I had no idea where to start in creating a business plan, but LivePlan was able to set me off in the right direction.

CONS: The initial plan that I subscribed to had been a little pricey. Although I do love that when I decided to downgrade, they allowed me to keep all of my data.

What do you think about this review?

One of the essential programs for business planning.

PROS: I love how it goes beyond just providing me with a financial estimate for my business. It follows through by integrating with programs such as QBO and Xero to allow me to check its reports against the actual performance of my business. It provides various possibilities and scenarios that might lead to each one.

CONS: I think it's simple enough, but I'd probably appreciate a bit more sophistication for my more complex business ideas.

Perfect for business planning and computing.

PROS: I love how I can simply input my information and it automatically gives me an expense and feasibility report.

CONS: It doesn't really help with the computation of commission. It is only best for conservative business models.

Very easy to use and edit.

PROS: I think one of LivePlan's main selling points is its usability. It hooks the user up with multiple solutions in one, including a business proposal creator.

CONS: I can't seem to export my reports in parts. If I want a particular portion, I have to download everything else. If anyone knows a workaround for this, please let me know.

Gives a pretty accurate business forecast.

PROS: I cannot stress the importance of creating a business plan before diving headfirst on any venture. LivePlan is a great tool to use for start-ups. It takes the complexity away from business planning and gives you a clear and honest projection of where you might be in the next few years.

CONS: The learning curve is a bit steep, albeit necessary. After all, you don't want to enter a business without doing a bit of research yourself.

It carefully walks me through the entire business planning process.

PROS: I love how LivePlan makes it easy for me to enjoy the dreaded business planning process. It is both thorough and easy to use. It has guided me every step of the way, plus the prompts on each section give me a heads-up on what to expect next too. It automatically provides me with a business forecast based on the data that I've previously inputted. I'm glad that I discovered this program. Seeing a tabular view of my business makes the data easier to digest and understand.

CONS: I feel like LivePlan would benefit by adding more forecasting options. Right now, it only gives a limited projection of revenue and volume per month. Another thing is that I wish it would have the capacity to compute commissions of sales employees too. I've been doing this manually for some time now and it chips away on my work hours.

User-friendly and intuitive–5 stars!

PROS: I instantly liked the idea of using a program such as LivePlan, and did not hesitate to sign up for it. I love how it is intuitive and easy-to-use. It offers plenty of editing options as well.

CONS: I find it a bit difficult to export documents in Word and PDF format. The comments section are difficult to find too.

Just what m our start-up needs.

PROS: Out of all the business planning programs we've used, LivePlan is probably the best. We decided to forego our previous program for this web-based solution, and we're glad that we made the jump. It has everything that we need in one, easy-to-use package. It syncs seamlessly with QuickBooks, takes into account deferred revenue, and automatically adjusts reports to fit your needs best.

CONS: We had to manually distinguish annual vs monthly deferred revenue because LivePlan can't differentiate these. It's not retroactive too. So any deferred avenue needs to be calculated as we go, and can only be computed going forward. It would be much easier for us if we can input deferred revenues from, say, a year ago.

Works with just about any business–I love it!

An ace of a program for every start-up.

PROS: I've been dreading the whole financial planning process, and LivePlan has managed to take a load off my shoulder. I found it just as I was about to start crunching the numbers for my monthly and yearly projections, and I've been able to generate a full report (projections of up to 5 years) in just a matter of hours! It helps me come up with just about everything I need--from balance sheets to cashflow to income statements. I love how the program really pays attention to the seemingly little things just to give me an accurate projection. It asks me questions about the nature of my business, what I sell, how many units are sold per month, etc. From this information, it gives a projection and drills down to the details every month as it learns more about my business. The business plan itself is easy to understand. They're marked properly and I can customize it any way that I like. I've been able to share the plan with some of my investors without fear of them accidentally editing some cells of my presentation. I recommend this program to all start-ups.

CONS: As far as I know, LivePlan still doesn't allow business plan to be exported in Excel version. I've managed to find a workaround on this by exporting the file on Word and then simply cutting and pasting it on Excel.

Makes business planning seem like a breeze.

PROS: Thanks to LivePlan, crunching the numbers for my business is now a no-brainer! All I have to do is to input the numbers in tables, and it automatically gives me all that I need to know. From financial forecasts to generating charts and figures for my reports--LivePlan is probably all that I need to build a feasible business plan. Not to mention, it offers some free plan templates too!

CONS: My only issue with LivePlan is that it is very US-centric. It does not take my location into account so computing taxes and other nuances can be such a pain. For example, I like in the UK and out taxed and insurances are computed differently here. I had to compute for these separately and manually.

Just what I need for elevator pitches for my business.

Editor's Review:

LivePlan offers an online service for creating and developing your business plan. Although it is more catered towards start up businesses , more seasoned entrepreneurs may still find it to be of use in helping to develop existing plans, and to check whether their financial targets are continually being met. You can use the system for any kind of business plan, and the site provides a number of samples from different industries as examples of what you can achieve and the sorts of things you might include.

If you’re not entirely sure of all the sorts of information you ought to include in your business plan then LivePlan ought to be a great help. It asks all of the questions that need answering in a business plan, and the documents produced use industry-standard structures so that yours ought to be seen as competently produced. That said, if you’re looking for a service that guides you through a plan that is very particular to your industry then you may need to look elsewhere, as the majority of the planning done on LivePlan is more generic (and in some sense, therefore more flexible for producing very different plans in the future).

Users will be able to organise their financial plans whilst tracking their performance over time. This allows you to identify any shortcomings and to monitor how you are progressing towards your goals. You can also edit all areas of the plan so that they are specific to your company, reducing the general sound of segments and making sure that they will speak clearly to potential investors. Live Plan offers 10 different designs for your plan, allowing you to give a particular look and feel to each one. As well as this you are able to produce multiple plans, so you are not restricted in terms of how many edits you make, or how many unique plans you can produce during your license period. Once you’ve finished you can either send the plan in an email (as a PDF) or print it off.

If you’re not too hot on the finance side of things then this system provides a range of basic formulas that do all the hard work for you. You can also convert this information into graphs , which makes for a more visual interpretation of data and is better suited to any pitches you might be giving to gain investment. However there is no way to import data from non-Quickbook sources, which could become a pain if you have a lot of data you need to import from another program.

LivePlan is a solid business plan creator with a few extra features that are bound to help start up businesses, particularly if they’re keen to keep a close eye on their finances. Whilst it system doesn’t allow you to stray too far from a standard plan, you are still able to personalise each one in terms of its content and layout. You will also be able to access your plan from any machine with an internet connection, and can invite others to collaborate on it if you need a bit of extra input. Whilst LivePlan doesn’t necessarily have all of the features that more established businesses might be looking for, the ones it does have do a good job and ought to be of use.

What can I watch on Max?

Max , formerly known as HBO Max , combines access to everything on HBO, select content from Discovery Plus, and new original series into one app, one subscription plan, and one monthly fee. You can even sign up for a bundle that adds Disney Plus and Hulu for a discounted rate.

The platform also includes CNN Max, a round-the-clock live news feed at no extra cost. Coupled with its already sizable selection of popular shows, movies, and reality series, Max is one of the best streaming services for people who want prestige TV and tons of unscripted content in one place.

However, its top-tier plans don't come cheap. Max's standard plan without ads costs $17 a month and its Ultimate plan with 4K streaming costs $21 a month. That's notably more expensive than similar offerings from competitors like Disney Plus ,  Paramount Plus , and  Peacock .

To help you decide whether Max is worth signing up for, we broke down everything you need to know, including what each plan includes how to subscribe, and what you can watch right now.

live plan business plans reviews

Max is a premium service for fans of prestige television, iconic films, and unscripted programs. Prices start at $10 a month for ad-supported, $17 for ad-free, and $21 if you want to view in 4K.

live plan business plans reviews

This bundle gets you ad-supported access to Disney Plus, Hulu, and Max for just $17 a month. That's $9 off the regular combined cost of all three services.

Max is Warner Bros. Discovery's premier streaming service, which serves as a rebranding, expansion, and replacement of the company's previous HBO Max platform. Max offers a combination of HBO Max and Discovery Plus content, with movies, shows, and documentaries geared toward different tastes.

As such, Max is the streaming home to series like " The Last of Us ," "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives," "90 Day Fiance," " House of the Dragon ," and many more titles that used to be exclusively available on either service. Leveraging all of Warner Bros. Discovery's various properties, Max includes titles from HBO, Warner Bros. Studios, Discovery Channel, DC, Cartoon Network, Food Network, TCM, Magnolia Network, and more.

As of September 2023, it is also the home of live news via CNN Max at no additional cost. Live sports are also offered via the B/R (Bleacher Report) Sports Add-on (free for a limited time).

How much does Max cost?

Max is available at three different pricing tiers. All plans include access to the entire library of Max content, but certain tiers provide better streaming quality and other perks.

  • Max with Ads : $10/month or $100/year for ad-supported streaming with up to two simultaneous streams, no offline downloads, and 5.1 surround sound quality.
  • Max Ad-Free : $17/month or $170/year for ad-free streaming with up to two simultaneous streams, 1080p HD video playback, up to 30 offline downloads, and 5.1 surround sound quality.
  • Max Ultimate Ad-Free : $21/month or $210/year with up to four simultaneous streams, up to 4K HD Ultra video playback with HDR, 100 offline downloads, and Dolby Atmos sound quality.

Max's Ultimate plan is notably more expensive than similar offerings from competitors like Disney Plus, Peacock, and Paramount Plus. However, it's still slightly cheaper than a Netflix Premium plan ($23/month).

Like Netflix, Max requires you to sign up for its most expensive plan to get 4K high-dynamic-range (HDR) video and Dolby Atmos audio support. Check out our guides to 4K resolution , HDR , and Dolby Atmos for details on the benefits of those features.

Is there a Max bundle with Disney Plus and Hulu?

Max is now available as part of a discounted bundle with Disney Plus and Hulu . The bundle can save you as much as $19 a month and you can choose between two different packages.

Disney Plus/Hulu/Max bundle with Ads : $17/month for access to Disney Plus Basic, Hulu (with ads), and Max (with ads).

Disney Plus/Hulu/Max bundle without Ads : $30/month for access to Disney Plus Premium, Hulu (no ads), and ad-free Max.

Subscribers to the bundle get access to all three apps. However, while the ad-free bundle features the highest tiers of Disney Plus and Hulu with 4K and Dolby Atmos streaming support, the ad-free Max tier included with the bundle is limited to HD and standard Dolby surround sound streaming.

How do I sign up for Max?

You can sign up for Max right now through the Max website . The service is also available through partner platforms like Prime Video and Hulu . HBO Max subscribers were automatically transferred over to Max on May 23, 2023.

How is Max different from HBO Max?

Max offers everything HBO Max did, along with tons of popular Discovery Plus content, like shows from Food Network, HGTV, TLC, ID, and more. The revised platform also features a revamped interface and other quality-of-life improvements to make finding content easier across all of the service's brands.

Is Max included with an HBO cable plan?

As was the case with HBO Max, most viewers who already have HBO through their cable or satellite TV provider get access to ad-free Max with HD streaming for no additional cost. To see if you qualify, check out the list of eligible providers .

What if I'm a Discovery Plus subscriber?

Though Max includes a lot of the content that you can find on Discovery Plus, the two platforms remain available as separate services. If you're a Discovery Plus member, you can keep your Discovery Plus membership with no additional fees. And viewers can still sign up for Discovery Plus on its own. Just remember that a stand-alone Discovery Plus plan does not include Max's library of HBO programs, movies, and scripted shows.

Max is home to content that used to require two subscriptions to view: HBO Max and Discovery Plus. The library includes a huge catalog pulled from all of Warner Bros. Discovery's various brands, including HBO, Warner Bros. Studios, Discovery Channel, DC, Cartoon Network, Looney Tunes, and more. This includes hits like "House of the Dragon," "The White Lotus," "Succession," "The Last of Us," "The Property Brothers," "House Hunters," and "90 Day Fiance."

As of September 2023, the service also offers CNN coverage around the clock via CNN Max at no extra cost for subscribers. And for a limited time, members can stream sports for free with the B/R Sports add-on.

New Warner Bros. movies also hit Max after they play in theaters. Right now, you can watch films like " Dune: Part Two ," " The Iron Claw ," " Barbie ," and " Wonka " on the service. In addition, Max will also be the streaming home to all upcoming HBO original series.

Some notable HBO Originals in development include:

  • "The Penguin"
  • "Welcome to Derry"
  • "The Conjuring" series
  • "The Big Bang Theory" spinoff
  • A new "Harry Potter" series

You can watch live sports on Max with the B/R (Bleacher Report) Sports Add-on. As of writing, it's included for free with any Max subscription as part of a limited-time promotion but normally costs an extra $10 a month. Though the promo was supposed to expire on February 29, it has been extended, and Max no longer specifies an end date.

If you're unsure how to watch B/R Sports on Max, just select the "B/R Sports" option at the top of the screen. It's here that you can access select live games from the NHL, NBA, MLB, NCAA Men's March Madness, and US Soccer. You can also find upcoming games and recent event highlights on B/R Sports.

Politics latest: Culture secretary calls for Huw Edwards to return BBC salary; poll reveals potential frontrunners for Tory leadership

Lisa Nandy has called for the BBC presenter to return the salary he received since his arrest in November. Meanwhile, a YouGov poll of Tory voters reveals who the favourites are for the party's leadership.

  • Live reporting by  Tim Baker

Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy has been asked about her feelings on the one of the most controversial parts of the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Yesterday, Italy's Angela Carini quit her boxing match against Algeria's Imane Khelif after just 46 seconds.

Khelif's inclusion was controversial due to a previous failed gender eligibility test - you can read more about what happened here .

Speaking to Sky News, Ms Nandy said: "It was a very uncomfortable watch.

"It was an incredibly short watch, but incredibly uncomfortable to see.

"And I know from being here in Paris that there are a lot of women competitors who are very concerned, not just about whether we're getting the balance right between inclusion, fairness and safety in boxing, but in other sports as well."

She added that the situation was more complex than what was being portrayed on social media.

In terms of the government's role, Ms Nandy said it was to make sure the right guidelines were in place for the bodies which operate sporting competitions.

She was not able to confirm if the bout would have gone ahead in the UK.

Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy has called for Huw Edwards to return the money he made from the BBC after being arrested.

Speaking to Sky News, the Labour frontbencher said Edwards "ought" to hand back the cash he earned since November last year, when he was arrested over serious indecent images of children.

The disgraced broadcaster has since stopped working for the publicly funded broadcaster, and admitted his guilt earlier this week.

She said it was "wrong" for Edwards to keep taking the salary until he resigned.

The Welsh newsreader was one of the BBC's most highly paid stars.

"It's not a good use of taxpayer's money," Ms Nandy added.

"I think most people in the country would agree with that."

However, she says it is "up to him" on whether he does hand back the cash.

Pollsters at YouGov have done some research on how people feel about the various Tory party leadership contenders.

While the opinion of the general public is interesting - it is not necessarily informative about the way the race could go.

Tory MPs will whittle down the contest to a final two by October, and then paid-up members will get to vote on who they want.

For this reason, the polling on how 2024 Tory voters feel gives greater insight into how the race may go.

Looking at the figures, James Cleverly appears to be the favourite - with a net rating of +16.

He is followed by Tom Tugendhat, just behind on +15.

The order then goes: Robert Jenrick (+8), Kemi Badenoch (+4), Mel Stride (-8) and Priti Patel (-11).

Ms Patel is also the most well-known among the general public - but also has a massive number of people that do not like her, the poll suggests.

Sky News' hugely popular politics podcast Electoral Dysfunction will go on tour in September after a busy summer covering the general election.

A series of live shows around the UK will be hosted by Sky's political editor  Beth Rigby .

She will be joined by regular panellist  Ruth Davidson , who is a Conservative peer, and a number of special guests at the events in London, Salford, Liverpool and Glasgow.

During the shows, audiences will get their chance to ask questions and get the panel's thoughts on the world of politics and podcasting.

👉For more information on dates and tickets for Electoral Dysfunction LIVE click here👈

The podcast has reached over two million downloads since it was launched earlier this year - and it regularly features at the top of the charts.

Founding contributor and Labour MP  Jess Phillips  recorded her  final episode  earlier this month after being appointed a government minister.

Electoral Dysfunction Live, September dates:

  • London - Thursday 12th , Bloomsbury Theatre (SOLD OUT)
  • Salford - Monday 16th , Lowry Quays
  • Liverpool - Sunday 22nd , St George's Hall
  • Glasgow - Thursday 26th , The Glee Club

Audiences can expect sharp dissection of the latest spin from Westminster and beyond, combined with plenty of lively discussion.

During what will be a significant time in global politics - with the UK a few months into a new government and the US election fast approaching - the team will discuss which politicians are succeeding, and who risks having a so-called "electoral dysfunction".

One of the areas Labour has wielded the axe to reduce what it claims is £22bn of unfunded spending by the last government is technology and artificial intelligence.

The Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) said no new funding for the programmes had been allocated in the previous government's spending plans, and therefore will not be taken forward.

This means an £800m project for a new supercomputer at the University of Edinburgh has had its plug pulled, and £500m of AI research funding has also been cancelled.

Another pool of £300m for AI research will go ahead.

A DSIT spokesperson said they were "absolutely committed to building technology infrastructure that delivers growth and opportunity for people across the UK".

The government says it is looking at ways to invest in computer infrastructure.

Andrew Griffiths, the Tory shadow science secretary, accused Labour of having "lower ambitions" for the UK's tech sector.

Home Office minister Lord David Hanson has said there is a "potential" for more violence this weekend.

Speaking to LBC, he was asked how concerned he was about further unrest.

Lord Hanson said: "There is that potential.

"But I always say to anybody who's organising this, we will be watching you. If you are organising this now, we will be watching you.

"We have powers under existing legislation to stop you organising this now and to take action accordingly, and if you do take action and are not part of any organised group, be prepared to face the full force of the law on this criminal activity."

Asked whether those involved are from the far right, he said: "Some individuals will have far-right opinions, in my view, some might be caught up in the summer madness. Some might be people who've got genuine concerns.

"Whatever those concerns are, there are mechanisms where they can raise them with their member of parliament, they can peacefully protest and they can take those issues forward."

The race is still on to be the next Conservative leader.

Here's who is running this time, to replace Rishi Sunak:

The Essex MP, a former home, education and foreign secretary, was a loyal lieutenant for both Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak.

Part of his brief as home secretary was the plan to send asylum seekers to Rwanda - something he is said to have had reservations about in private.

He caused controversy last year - and was forced to apologise - after making a joke about date rape, which he admitted may have undermined the government's work to tackle drink spiking.

The former security minister and soldier is regarded highly among the One Nation group of moderate Tory MPs.

But he has said he would consider leaving the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) if it "doesn't serve our interests" - a change in his stance seen as appealing to the right of the party.

Mr Tugendhat is notable for his hawkish stance on China, although this became more muted once he entered government.

Mr Jenrick held several ministerial roles, including communities secretary and immigration minister.

He resigned from the latter over Mr Sunak's Rwanda bill, suggesting it wasn't robust enough.

His stint as communities secretary was marred by him fast-tracking a £1bn housing development proposed by a Tory donor.

A long-standing ally of Mr Sunak, he was dubbed "the minister for the morning round" during the general election campaign, facing the media more than any of his colleagues.

He served as work and pensions secretary through Mr Sunak's premiership, and has stayed on to shadow the role.

He also had a spell in the Treasury, both as financial secretary and paymaster general, during Theresa May's tenure in Number 10, and went on to chair the Treasury Select Committee between 2019 and 2022.

Dame Priti is seen as one of the more traditional right-wing MPs in the Conservative Party.

She has put herself forward as the candidate to reunite the party and insisted "authentic" conservative values such as defending freedom, promoting enterprise, keeping people safe and spreading opportunity remained popular with the public.

Dame Priti - who stayed loyal to Boris Johnson - has promised members would be rewarded for their loyalty under her leadership with a greater voice in policy and the direction of the party.

The former business secretary is seen as a darling of the right and has impressed some in the party with her no-nonsense approach.

Ms Badenoch has promised to "speak the truth again" and wants to renew the party by 2030 by reconfirming "our belief in the nation state and the sovereign duty it has, above all else, to serve its own citizens".

Ms Badenoch has been outspoken on issues including women's rights, equality, and identity politics.

We've been hearing from Home Office minister Lord David Hanson.

He is asked if the government is worried about a summer of riots after a series of violent events.

He tells Sky News: "Hot weather, political issues always cause concern.

"What we want to do is to take steps as a government in supporting the police to deal with this.

"There is no excuse for rioting and criminal behaviour, and those people who wish to potentially undertake it need to know that the prime minister yesterday has charged the police with taking action to ensure that criminal convictions persist in the events of that activity taking place."

On what the government is doing to help police forces with the rioting and disorder, Lord Hanson says the various constabularies have not asked for extra resources.

Instead, the minister says, they "want to have the political support to have a programme of activity, which they've now got from the prime minister, to take action under existing legislation and existing resources".

He adds that the business and culture secretaries will be meeting with social media companies to have "discussions" about the way in which disinformation has spread and the "triggers" that have led to the unrest.

A senior Labour politician who lost their seat in a shock result on election night has hinted at a future return to parliament.

Jonathan Ashworth, the former Labour MP for Leicester South who was defeated by an independent candidate, told Beth Rigby's Electoral Dysfunction podcast that he was "still around" and "not going anywhere".

👉  Click here to follow Electoral Dysfunction wherever you get your podcasts  👈

Shortly following his election defeat, Mr Ashworth, who was set to get a cabinet role in government, was appointed head of the influential Labour thinktank Labour Together.

Asked by Rigby whether he could return to Westminster if the circumstances allow - such as in a by-election, for example - Ms Ashworth said: "I'm still around. I'm still going to be involved. I'm not going anywhere."

Rigby interjected: "I'm going to put a wager on here with myself, obviously betting on political events - ill-advised, if you're in our business - but I could see a by-election situation where Jon Ashworth is back. Just putting it out there."

Mr Ashworth replied: "Well, all I would say is people got into a lot of trouble betting on politics in recent weeks. So just be careful!"

The former Labour MP, who represented Leicester South from 2011 until the election, was ousted by Shockat Adam, an independent candidate who stood on a pro-Gaza platform, by just 979 votes.
