We booked a dreaded time share presentation to get a reduced rate and gift card through BlueGreen Vacations. Just wondering if anyone has done one with them and what their level of pushiness is. Hoping this isn't going to be awful like I have heard Westgate is.

My in-laws own at a Blue Green resort (Big Cedar). They used to do the tours every year to get a GC, but they stopped because they kept getting more and more pushy and would openly lie to them about many things. From what I've heard, if they tell you it is only 90 minutes, set an alarm on your phone and when it goes off tell them you are done. There are also techniques on avoiding the hard sale, the easiest to remember and follow is just say no on everything. No and only No. Don't give any reason, when they ask just say "Just not interested," etc. If you give any type of reason, they can play off of that to try to convince you why that isn't a big deal. FYI: Bass Pro just sued and settled with BlueGreen over their pushy sales tactics at their stores and with people they signed up for tours at their stores.

I’ve done the BlueGreen Vacations timeshare presentation. It wasn’t too bad at all. The actual presentation was about 90 minutes, but then they expected you to sit with a salesperson who gave you the sales pitch. We gave a firm no and the salesperson called over his manager who tried to sweeten the deal a bit. We gave a firm no again and were out the door within 30 minutes. It was my first timeshare presentation and I would do it again for such a great deal on the resort with tickets and a gift card.

“Wonderful experience”

I spoke to a great agent named Max who was very knowledgeable about scheduling my vacation making sure I have all the information and phone numbers to be in contact if I need them for anything. We need more kind and professional people that cares about giving good service to clients. Many blessings to him.

“Do your homework. Think long term.”

If you want your kids to be as angry and frustrated as me, buy a timeshare from bluegreen and leave it to them. Sell this "real estate?" Unlikely. I weep seeing the tens of thousands I feel was conned from my parents. My sister and I sat down for a review to help us. We were told by the salesperson that we were right, selling points as real estate was virtually impossible. But if we paid another $15,000 they would gladly bestow upon us the title that would magically give our "real estate" points value and their company would sell it for us. You know there are millions of vacation dollars at stake when companies are allowed to treat people this way. Don't believe the hype, this will end in tears.

So my wife bought the Bluegreen vacation package for $200 thinking we could use it for some whitewater rafting we wanted to take the family on in Tennessee. As the vacation day approached, Bluegreen could not guarantee us a time for their 2-hour presentation - which put our prepaid afternoon whitewater rafting and our prepaid second day at Dollywood in jeopardy. They said (per a phone call with a Bluegreen rep) that a guaranteed time slot could only be given the day before your arrival and had to be in person (a fact they never mentioned even though we explained our vacation needs early in the process). Since our arrival wasn't to come in a day early to get in the queue, we were going to get a late time of day for their presentation, however, we needed an early time slot to support our desired activities. They also stated that failure to show would result in the booked hotel charging us the full price for our stay (over $600) and a loss of our original $200. Forced us to pick either the Bluegreen 2-hour presentation and cancel a day of fun activities with the kids or cancel Bluegreen. We decided to cancel the Bluegreen vacation in Tennessee, and I used my Hilton points for 3 free days at a Hilton suite - and we made all of our vacation activities as planned. I requested a refund of our $200 and of course - as I expected, they ignored my request. So we are going to eat the $200. Lesson Learned for us and for you. Turns out, the packages they are selling are very similar to a vacation package we used to own, called Worldmark - which worked for a while for us, but was overpriced and the annual maintenance fees were high - and the contract was extremely difficult to get out of. If you ever want to buy their packages, buy them from the secondary market - like eBay, etc., where it costs pennies on the dollar.

BlueGreen Vacations Timeshare Scam Warning!!!

Disclosure: Results my vary, as this is my personal experience only.

My video review on the BlueGreen Vacation Timeshare Scam.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qVc7ImQNeS4

I paid $150.00 to Bluegreen Vacations at the mall last year. I was told I would receive a 3 night stay at a nice resort, and a 4 night cruise with Carnival (Sound Familiar)? My job was to complete a 2 hour timeshare tour on the second day of my resort stay, and after completing, I would receive a 4 night cruise voucher. We drove 2 hours from Orlando, FL to St. Petersburg, FL to stay at the Bilmar Beach Resort.

We were suppose to stay from Sunday to Wednesday, but ended up coming in a day early on Saturday (4 nights). We were told on the phone it would be an upgrade of half off for that night (about $75) but when we got their, the hotel staff made us call Bluegreen to confirm this in writing and fax over the paperwork. Bluegreen contacted them, and sent them a conformation number. We were given the hotel key for our 4 night stay.

BlueGreen then calls my phone telling me to authorize the room for $159 (more than the cost of the room), then after arguing dropped it to $143 (the same cost of the room) with a $25 Visa gift card coming in the mail to me (I already got that when I signed up). What happened to half off? By the way, we also had to pay $107 in resort taxes and fees for the 4 nights.

I decided to call BlueGreen and discuss the true cost of the 4 night cruise before attending the Timeshare tour. She told me it would be a total of $373.00 which included taxes and port fees, plus $96 in tips ($12 per day, per guest, per night). Thats a total of $469.00!!! We left the resort, drove back to Orlando, and just enjoyed the rest of our day.

COST TO GET INVOLVED: $150.00

COST FOR THE RESORT STAY: $250.00 ($178.50)

COST FOR THE CRUISE: $469.00

TOTAL COST: $869.00

Glad we did not fall for this all the way and pay for the cruise! Get this. I called Carnival directly, and she said for the exact same thing, I would pay $517.00 directly through them, and the taxes, port fees, and tips would only be $292.00, yet with BlueGreen, they are making me pay $469.00 for the exact same thing.

I rest my case.

Freebies to attend any timeshare presentation are not worth one's time .... they are there only to snag you into buying and they can go on for hours .... a lesson learned by you.

What is a scam? Keep in mind you are replying to a post from three years ago.

There are a number of scams out there that are timeshare-related.

Still don’t get where the “scam” is in all this.

First, the resorts are beautiful and I’ve stayed at one.

Second, I was offered a MasterCard of $150 not a cruise.

Third, there are people who have been owners for years that continue enjoying their vacations.

Fourth, you got something for your money and time.

It may feel like a scam just like if you go to the mall and buy a pair of shoes that you later find are almost half the cost online. But, get over it and move on. Timeshare is a way people can own a vacation home without having to actually pay the cost of a second full mortgage.

NO!! It is a scam, when you are told you will be staying at nice resort. We made our reservations, they called to confirm our stay at a Comfort Inn miles down the road from the resort. The only amenities the Comfort Inn had to offer was a parking lot view, and a broke down swing set plus we would have to pay the taxes of $176.00 for the 3 nights. The regular Comfort Inn price was only $76.00 a night and my husband is ex military so we could get a discount off of that price making the total cost with tax $186.57. Now they already received $200.00 from us, what is the benefit to do this if we do not get to stay there. OH Wait! Then we were offered to stay at the resort for another $290.00 plus taxes. Seriously! I am expected to travel 9 hours to check out a your resort but stay in a parking lot hotel!! I am sure hundreds of people do not use their $200.00 package after finding out all the charges, so they are making a killing off people for nothing, a TOTAL SCAM. By the way this just happened today July 18, 2018 not a three year old post. Believe me I will be sharing this information with everyone and every time I see them at any mall/store. If they do not get their money from people they are ripping off in the malls then they will have to get it from their time share holders, GOOD LUCK WITH THAT!!!!

We just got back from a wonderful vacation in Lincoln, NH. This company was wonderful. We definitely didn't stay in a Comfort Inn! We paid $199.00 at Bass Pro Shop, received a $100 g/c immediately. Spent 3 nights, and 4 days at Riverwalk Resort in Lincoln, NH. We paid $37.00 in tax. Went to a 1 hour presentation, and after the presentation, we received another $125.00 in g/c to Bass Pro. It was worth it for us because my husband spends money at Bass Pro all the time. Bluegreen Vacations employees were great! Of course that's expected, they're trying to sell. We had zero problems. Now as far as the actually timeshare is concerned, I do not have any experience with that, yet!

I booked the St Petersburg, FL location thinking it would be on the beach(as shown on their website). I received a letter confirming my stay would be at a 2 star Comfort Inn & Suites, also with a parking lot view, far from the beach! I called one of their vacation specialists to be moved to another hotel. Oh it absolutely can be done for an additional charge. Umm... no, thanks. I live close enough to the area to show up just for the cruise certificate but I don’t know if it’s even worth it at this point. Disappointing, to say the least.

It definitely is a scam. They used a sweepstakes to win a brand new Camaro at an outlet mall by my house as a way to get people to by their vacation plans. They called me up and told me I was one out of 50 people nationwide that won a VIP vacation package for a 4 day cruise for only $248. The guy told me that I only had a few minutes to decide if I want to pay for it, and when I told him that it sounded sketchy, he told me he would drop the price to $198, but since it’s a VIP package, if I hung up then I would lose my offer. I asked him if everyone else gets a call for the “VIP” vacation package, and he told me no that only 50 people in the U.S. are getting this offer. However, when I filled out the raffle ticket to win the car, my girlfriend was with me and she filled one out, too... so I told the guy I didn’t want the package and hung up, and literally 5 minutes later, my girlfriend got a call for the same VIP package.

If only 50 people in America got offered the VIP package, what are the chances that both me and my girlfriend would be selected for it? Lol. We must be the luckiest couple in the world to both win the VIP vacation package.

If you really want a timeshare, just take your time to do the research, visit different seminars, and really ask around about them. Don’t get talked into buying one by someone on the phone. Treat buying a timeshare the same you would treat buying a home. Depending on your timeshare plan and how often you use it, your timeshare will be like your second home.

It sounds like you had the same deal as we did except we paid less than $30 at the Comfort Inn. We were told that it would be at a resort also then found out after we booked that it would be at the Comfort Inn. I would also like to say, even though we were disappointed that we would have to pay to upgrade to the actual resort, everyone at Comfort Inn was very nice. We paid the $199 at the first encounter plus $30 at hotel. We received in return, two $75 gift cards and one $25 gift card. So for the weekend, we paid less than $55. Three nights. The cruise was explained beforehand as far as the port fees and taxes. We knew that this would be approximately $400 for two of us. We also knew that it was a category 1A cabin and that we would have the option of upgrading. Our biggest disappointment was when trying to book the cruise, I was told that they didn't honor the free 1A out of Tampa, even though we were told several times that we could sail out of any port. Even the folder that they put the certificate in, shows Tampa as a port. However, they did accept the certificate for a discount and it was less than $200 to upgrade. Total was a little over $600 for a five day cruise. I did a mock booking on Carnival for the exact same cabin and it would cost over $900. So we are actually paying a little over $200 for the cabin. The rest we would have to pay anyway and we do cruise a lot so for us, it is a discount. I'm still trying to figure out the amount they charged you at Comfort Inn. We were there this last week of June, this year, 2018. Unless it was a Comfort Inn that was a luxury resort, the "require resort fees/taxes" should never add up to that amount.

Hello, I am just adding my experience. I was in Bass Pro with my husband and was approached regarding a vacation. I thought, this is just a scam, but I did want to listen. This is what we were offered and told. A 3 night stay in a Choice Hotel in New Orleans, $75 (total, $50 now & $25 later) & a cruise certificate for a 3-5 night cruise. This is what we got, this far, a 3 night stay in a Choice Hotel in New Orleans, $75 (total, $50 now & $25 later) & a cruise certificate for a 3-5 night cruise. Additional comments, we were told, up front, we would have to go thru a sales presentation in order to get this discount, and that we were responsible for tax and parking (if applicable and if you know downtown New Orleans, parking is always applicable). Furthermore, we were told that we needed to pay for the taxes with a major credit card & when we called to confirm the hotel stay, we were told exactly how much the taxes were. There was nothing, in anyway, that was misleading or misconstrued about what we were being offered. Regarding the sales pitch, I'll be honest here, it is a bit expensive... but that's not what got me to walk away. What didn't like abput this whole experience#: I would say that I see the value of it, but there's no way we're going to put (at minimum) $13K on the table (financed or not) without thinking about it. We turned them down and stated it would be a year before we would be able to commit to something like this. They offered us a sample package. Less than $900....with some workable, but substantial, limits. Now, we agreed to this...I was told this package was not based on credit, I was very clear about this because I know my husband has much better credit than myself and, if it was, it would be much better to keep me off this whole thing and I'll be his guest, but they ran an inquiry anyway... and next thing you know, that $900 entry level program is not available to us... they wanted us to get this package with a few more points, and, as far as I can tell, the same restrictions, but for $3500. We said that if we can't get the $900 deal, we would walk. They said they could do that and we walked away...with our $25 gift certificate and cruise certificate. I have to wait 90 days to book the cruise, so we'll see how that goes! Oh, they originally, didn't have any available rooms (based on the website), so I called them back to rebook the vacation. They originally gave me a location across the river, but I called them back and they rebooked me at a very nice hotel. I did run the numbers, this same weekend would have cost me $500 just for the hotel, plus parking... so I'm pleased with that...

Hi, just wondering when you took your vacation & what they're is to do there? We just purchased this & were thinking of going to NH as well.. Thanks! :)

I used to work for blue green. Had no idea it was a scam. I decided to do some research on it because I'm planning a Cruise now. I found out they raised the pay and they lose so many people so often because no one can met the sales quota and other people just can't stand to bother people all of the time. My grandparents owned a time share and my dad used to take me on trips like this all of the time but they weren't with blue green. Plus all of the hidden fees, which they don't tell employees about. Everyone I worked with while I was there quiet or was fired,The entire staff. I was really excited about the free cruise myself. Now I feel bad for staying as long as I did, but I was young right out of high school and never planed a vacation on my own.its great to know that you can get a cruise for the same price and not have to go thru the harassment of the sale pitch.

Yes it is a scam in that they do not deliver on what they promise to get you buy into the package. I could not even get an idea of what cabin we would be in. They said we wouldn't know until we arrived there at the welcome center...really?! So how can anyone plan a trip around not even knowing lodging info, location, pictures, anything? I asked them to call cabinsforyou.com and friggin lock one down for us and then call us with a confirmation...nope, they wouldn't do that. I asked what it is they do there in that call center other than book vacations...they said nothing else except for answer questions about the timeshare experience. So, I say if I cannot get what was promised upon purchasing the package and my money is non-refundable...IT...IS...A...SCAM! I told them to shove it and that I would reflect my experience online. If you want a vacation cabin, or anything else, just book it with a credible private owner folks. Pay the extra and you will thank yourself for it. Moreover, this was purchased in a BASS PRO SHOPS, so I'm doubly pissed.

Wow, what a disappointment. Thought this type business would operate with some integrity. I purchased a package to visit and listen to what they have to offer. The lure was a 3,4 or 5 day cruise certificate. I purchased this from Bass Pro Shops (Shame on them too) and was told without a doubt that the promotional cruise included the Port of Galveston and it is even listed on the brochure. After the presentation I call to check my options and guess what they don't do promotions out of Galveston as a matter of fact there are 4 out of the 9 ports listed in the brochure they don't do promotions out of. Can you says FALSE AND MISLEADING ADVERTISING! What a joke, Never again and anyone I can tell I will tell them to stay away. If they are this misleading in trying to get me to purchase their product I can only imagine how difficult they will be after a purchase. Don't WALK but RUN away!!!

Follow up...they did call me back and refunded the $120 i paid. She said she was told to call me back and refund me by someone upper. I think maybe they heard the recording of the call and heard me say that I would publicly post my experience everywhere I could. Still doesn't change the taste in my mouth.

The hotel we stayed at for $199 for 3 nights was beautiful but after our required timeshare presentation we have still not got the 30,000 points promised to us. They gave us 5000 and I’ve been calling for close to a month to get the other 25,000. No one seems to care and they just direct me to call other numbers. If this is how they run this part of the business I can’t imagine trying to actually book a trip!

I am currently battling Bluegreen after spending nearly $18,000 on something I cannot use because I cannot book where or when I need to. We were told lies and given false information about the entire membership. I have yet to use my points. The only thing they told me was to buy more points because premier would give me advantages over 80% of the other members. This is a scam and you will be paying a high interest rate mortgage for non-real property. Do not believe them when they say you can refinance it. You can't!!!! They refused to help me and ignored my calls and emails. I had to get an attorney. Then they said they could not help me since I have legal representation and to have the attorney contact them.

Bluegreen has yet to return the attorney's calls and demand letters. I have PAGES and PAGES worth of complaints regarding the lies they told me. Due to the pending legal action, I will not go into further details, but do stand you ground with them regarding your complaint! Please, if you have issues with Bluegreen, contact the BBB in Florida where Bluegreen is based. Also, contact the consumer protection division at the Attorney General's Office in your state and/or the state where you purchased your package. Bass Pro sued Bluegreen and broke their partnership due to Bluegreen sales tactics and breach of contract until a high dollar deal was agreed to. Bluegreen stocks have fallen considerably since I signed up in July 2018. At that time, the stock was 25.25; however, today the stock 11.22 with a low of 7.79 on July 7th.

I filed a complaint with the BBB; however, since Bluegreen answered me, they closed my compliant. Also, since I filed a complaint, I can not leave a review. The BBB will decide if they will post my complaint or not. I can not fathom how a business with nearly 900 complaints (over 300 the past year) can still maintain an A+ rating because they answered the complaints. Be vigilant in your complaints. Although the person who is hired to answer the complaints has no idea what was said, they will try and deny there was any wrong doing. Bluegreen needs to be held accountable.

Welcome to the wonderful world of capitalism .

bluegreen vacations timeshare presentation reviews

worst company ever. we realized that it was a big scam after all. we bought the "package" at bass pro shops for $199 and were promised $100 visa gift card and $50 bass pro shops gift card after we finished their "presentation". We booked the stay at Boyne mountain resorts right away for a 3 night stay and were excited and happy and everything was going fine. we drove for 6 hours and finally got to the destination (exhausted and wanting to go to our room so we could rest), went into the Bluegreen office and were asked to sign a bunch of papers including our income and other information. By accident (being pretty tired from a 6 HOUR drive) I marked the first income box (0-39999) thinking that it said 0-399999 (we found out later than this little mistake would be irreversible as if we were signing something this important). The "nice" ladies didn't say anything to us to signal that we might of made a mistake, she just told us to sign a bunch of other stuff, not telling us what each one was for. after about 15 minutes of signing papers, out of no where she tells us that we have to leave tomorrow because we "don't meet the criteria". we were shocked and tried asking what the thing we didn't meet was but all she said was that we didn't meet it (she didn't even tell us that it was because of the income mistake). and trust me I tried hard for them to just tell us what the problem was, all she did was give us a paper with a bunch of "criteria" and told us to read it over and see what the thing we didn't meet was. so we took it back to our hotel and called costumer service and spend at least 4 hours talking to them trying to solve the issue but sadly all they could tell us was that we either needed to provide proof of our income (even though we already filled out the correct income at bass pro shops prior to purchasing the package) or we could stay for the remainder of the 2 more day but we'd have to pay $300 extra. How would I know to bring my username and password to the irs website when going on a vacation and they know this pretty well. they know that no one will have proof of their income so they could rip them off. We tried soooo many times to fill out the paper again but they didn't let us. I don't know why they made it such a big deal for such a tiny mistake and wouldn't let us fix it but I have a pretty good idea. we even tried to get our money back or even the gift cards we were promised but nothing worked. we went back to the office a couple of times and they kept telling us that they explained everything to us, which they didn't. there was a camera there and we urged them to open the tape so we could see who was lying and who wasn't, but they kept changing the subject and ignoring our request every time we mentioned the camera, because they knew for a fact that we were right. Don't buy any "package" from this company, they just wanted us to make a small mistake so they could do this, it's all a big scam. the ladies at Boyne mountain in Michigan were not helpful at all and when asked to speak to the manager, she could "call" him but wouldn't let us hear him or speak to him so I'm pretty sure she was lying. By the way, their names were Barbara (the supervisor) and the other one was Stephanie. we only saw the supervisor when checking in and after we complained about the mistake we went back a couple of times but she "wasn't there" but I'm pretty sure she was hiding. this company is all a big scam, just read the other reviews. After that one day at Boyne, we left and got another hotel somewhere else because we were forced to book another hotel, it wasn't worth it to drive back 6 more hours. Also, we got a crappy hotel with no waterpark passes. Worst company ever, ruined our whole stay. Everyone took off 3 whole days off of work to go on this vacation and we were also ready to buy their "ownership" thing, but thank God we didn't buy anything else from this scam company. I really have no idea how they haven't been shut down yet reading all these other horrible reviews. I wish I could have given them 0 stars. Save your money and just get a nice hotel for probably less than $199, trust me it's all a scam, don't let them talk you into it like we were.

Stay Away!!!!!!

Stay Away!!!!!!! Old fashion scam, time sharing, promises, lies, trying to overcharge you. Not worth it single dollar or single minute. Regretting from the moment we got confirmation that we are staying in low quality hotel, the date that we choose 3 months in advance of course wasn't available. If you don't attend their "meeting" they will charge you "full" price, and that will be like you are staying in "Four Seasons". One word - Disaster!!! When you hear Bluegreen Vacations stay away!!!!

I booked a BlueGreen "vacation" in Savannah

I booked a "vacation" in Savannah, GA with BlueGreen at a Bass Pro / Cabela's almost two years ago. I paid for what is essentially a Time Share pitch. I cannot believe they let these scammers into their stores. When I contacted them to cancel the reservation, they decided they were going to 'fine' me an extra $125.00. Don't be fooled.

I just wanted to throw two cents out…

I just wanted to throw two cents out for people considering this. To be perfectly clear, this is not a review of BlueGreen's services because we DID NOT BUY. It is only a review of my experience in the sales pitch. Most people here are talking only about that experience because they had the good judgement to not purchase. We just did their 2 hour pitch in return for buckets of gift cards, so we basically paid nothing for our stay in NH. It wasn't exactly an incredible stay, but much better than a motel or something. For the price, really great. It's a place I wanted to see anyway, so we would've paid more for less otherwise. People seem to have a lot of negative experiences with the sales people at these BlueGreen pitches. While it is clear to me that this is a scam akin to a Ponzi scheme (how could any of this be profitable for Bluegreen unless they prey on the weak, there is no such thing as free lunch) we had a really great time talking to the salespeople. They were very kind locals of Lincoln, NH and my fiance and I enjoyed talking to them, and got a lot of great hike recommendations. NEVER FELT pressured to buy at all. They certainly made it sound too good to be true, and obviously it isn't true, but when we said we really needed to think about it, they were respectful and sent us home with giftcards in-hand. So glad we did not make a decision on the spot. But any issue I might have, I have with BlueGreen, and not the fine salespeople of Lincoln NH. I can't imagine there's too much opportunity in the area, and a job is a job. If you have an opportunity to go, I would recommend you listen to what they have to say. Do not buy anything, just enjoy your mostly-free 1 or 2 star hotel. If your expectations for stays are chronically high, maybe don't. If you can't say no to a salesperson, it might also not be for you. J

Bluegreen Responsible Exit Program

I want everyone to know that Bluegreen has what they call a Responsible Exit program. Just call their regular number and ask to be transferred over to that department. If you have upcoming reservations tell them to transfer your reservations over to the house. Don't wait because if you do, the fee to exit will go up. Apparently this program has been around for 2 years but they are not trying to advertise it.

This is a complete scam

This is a complete scam. I bought into the experience after visiting one of their resorts. What they showed me on my visit is far from the experience I have had since I bought in. You might as well forget being able to book a vacation when you want to. They never have availability and some of vacations your points wont work. There are too many conditions that were not made know to us when they sold it to us. I have tried multiple ways to sell my points, but it is very expensive to get out of the scam.

Bluegreen has left me deeply…

Bluegreen has left me deeply disappointed and regretful. I fell victim to their smooth-talking salespeople who promised me the world and convinced me to pay $47,000 for something I have never been able to use. They took advantage of my age and my trusting nature, preying on my desire to create cherished memories for my family, specifically my nieces and nephews since I never had children.

Uncomfortable beds that sit to the floor

Booked in 2021, did use until 2023 because of the pandemic. Made it clear l wanted a 2 bedroom with an ocean view on 1st floor. I get a view of parked cars and a accessible room with beds so low to the floor l feel like l camping instead of in a bed. Tbe beds are u comfortable and the rooms are ok. Seen better. The location for your 2 hr info sale pitch is 10-15 minutes from the actual resort. The parking is a parking deck and limited handicap spaces. Just not convient. Didn't come to the beach to not be able to see the beach. I think they get you here knowing they are not going to provide your accommodation request Won't be returning to this particular resort.

Do not under ANY circumstances connect…

Do not under ANY circumstances connect in any way with this company. We were lured in (stupid, I know) by a getaway weekend for $279 in Pigeon Forge. Listen to the sales pitch! NO vacation is worth what they will put you through. Charming sales people who will wear you down until you say yes or simply walk out. By the time you stay in a grungy carpeted room at a Quality Inn at 3756 Parkway in Pigeon Forge, you should get the idea that nothing good is coming your way. Don't be stupid; just don't book! So sorry we ever got involved with bluegreenvacations.com. Canceling contract per legal guidelines, they must follow the law!

Great experience!

We were first time point buyers when going to orientation in St Augustine. Renee Hardy helped us not only understand our points, but how to make them truly work for our small family. We can't thank her enough!

Better hope you're a high-tier buyer or…

Better hope you're a high-tier buyer or owner. 1st , Wanted to put us in a motel 8 for our buyer orientation. Not the 1st one as potential buyers. The one after you buy where they train you. Had to push for something nicer. They finally did for a fee of course. When we came for owner orientation both the trainer and the sales person. Were super friendly,we were supposed to see a cabin once orientation was finished with our trainer. as soon as they decided we weren't purchasing more points, we were treated entirely differently. I had asked the sales person one last question about a depost so we could decide yes or no to add more points and i guess the answer was no and thats when they must have decided we weren't buyers for us. She didn't even come back. She sent the trainer in to show us out. He was very short with us at that point. I'm sure people buying in at higher tiers have a better experience but not us at our teir.

My mother bought from this scam company and had nothing but problems. Then this fraud company harrassed us for payment when my mother passed away. Never do any kind of business with them. Rude and unproffessional as they can be. Save your money and hassle and go elsewhere.

Attended a BG presentation in Wis

Attended a BG presentation in Wis. Dells, WI. Spent 6 hours there, relentlessly but nicely pressured into purchasing “points” which we later found out was just another way of saying “time share” , I suppose we could have just left after the required 2 hours. Another mistake we made was not looking at reviews of this company beforehand, bad mistake, had we done that we would definitely got up and left after the required time commitment to avoid us having to then pay for the 3 night hotel stay, off-site from the resort of course. The sales team never once said “time share” so we were misled, they said we were buying vacation packages using points. 2 days after we purchased the deed we decided to rescind our offer and BG did honor this and refunded our deposit. The staff remained professional during this process and for that I’m grateful.

I gave 1 star because 0 was not an option. I bought a Blue Green vacation I should’ve checked them out first as I would advise you to . The presentation was in store, everything I was told was incorrect, lies , fraudulent to say the least. Two months ago I mailed them a letter and imagine just imagine I have received no response, I gave them my Email, phone number and text. Mr . Morris should be ashamed of his involvement with this Company. I have already done a review with the Better Business Bureau. Warning, Warning stay away. I am posting reviews on every Social Media sources available.

If you're looking to avoid a scam...

If you're looking to avoid a scam, do not engage with Bluegreen Vacations' salesperson in Bass Pro Shops. They will lure you into a too good to be true deal by offering gift cards from AMEX and Bass Pro Shop in exchange for attending a timeshare presentation in one of their hotels. Don't fall for it - they will charge you $200 upfront with no cancellation options. Even if you try to cancel due to health issues, they'll still charge you a $99 cancellation fee. The website has no cancel button for hotel bookings, and even their phone support is unhelpful and unavailable on weekends. We regret not reading reviews prior to our booking and advise others to do the same. It's unfortunate that Bass Pro Shop is associated with business that harass people and has such deceitful practices.

We are owners since June 2022

We are owners since June/ 2022. It's fine but the annual maintenance fees get you. We have made two trips to resorts which were fine. Each trip we had to tell them we didn't want to talk to someone about another sales pitch. Also, they call all the time wanting to pitch something else. Feeling like our purchase was a mistake

A wonderful time

My family and I took a vacation to the Arizona resort we had a great time. We took went to the sales pitch and signed up. I really wish we could afford the package but signed up anyway. After coming to the realization we could not afford it we canceled it once we got home. We over nighted a letter to cancel and it was honored. They did an excellent job canceling and we had a wonderful time loved the resort.

Refused to refund for incorrect charge

We're BG owners, and we do enjoy it. I just got an incorrect $15 charge on my account from them. It's just $15, so the money is no big deal. I called to complain, they refused to complain. I wrote, they refused to help. If you're on the fence, take this into consideration - they're cheap and not willing to honor their customers. The resorts are great, we always have a good time while we're there if we're avoiding the "review" (aka sales pitch). I'm disappointed at their attitude. I used to recommend them for everyone, but after they pretty much "stole" money from me, I won't be recommending them anymore.

Customer Service Is Unethical, Uncooperative and Divisive

Made a reservation with points and were told we had until 9p to cancel. Called at 815p to cancel only to find the (p deadline was Eastern time, so office was closed. Were not told we could canel online anytime before midnight. Called next morning to cancel reservation and were told there would be a $75 fee if cancellation over the phone or $60 if cancelled online. They refused to waive the cancellation fee twice, despite their not communicating the prior deadline time properly nor the online option. So, I'm out $60 because they did not do their job! By calling twice, I gave them ample opportunity to do what was obviously the right thing, but they refused. Do NOT ever buy a Bluegreen timeshare, EVER!! Run as far and as fast as you can from any and all sales pitches, etc. from Bluegreen. It is a huge ripoff, that only begins with unfair and inappropriate cancellation fees.

Would you sit through a two-hour timeshare sales presentation to get three nights at a hotel in Orlando, plus 15,000 Hilton Honors points — all for $199? How about for dinner or a spa voucher at a Marriott hotel in Dubai? Would three nights in Tahoe plus 10,000 IHG points for $249 be worth enduring a long sales pitch?

Companies dangle generous perks to try to sell you a timeshare, with offers ranging from free parking to free hotel nights to deeply discounted hotel stays — provided you sit through a timeshare sales presentation of 90 minutes or more.

Here’s what you need to know if you’re considering a timeshare sales presentation offer.

How timeshares work

What is a timeshare.

A timeshare is a fractional ownership of a vacation property or vacation property lease — usually at a popular travel destination or resort. It’s a lifetime commitment, although it’s possible to resell it. You’re basically investing in the opportunity to spend a week or more at select properties every year.

Many hotel chains have timeshares, including Hilton , Marriott and IHG .

The question "Is a timeshare a good deal?" is different from the question "Is this timeshare presentation offer a good deal?" Timeshares are often pitched as ways to save money on future vacations. Depending on your travel habits, it’s possible the timeshare pros and cons could tilt in your favor. But in most cases, collecting points and miles redeemable for travel is a better way to save.

But even if you know the timeshare route isn’t for you, that doesn’t necessarily mean you should skip out on the timeshare presentation offer. The perks could be well worth your time.

» Learn more: Are timeshares worth it? Possibly, if you buy smart

Timeshare presentation offers

A timeshare presentation offer is any benefit or discount — like free or reduced hotel stays, bonus points or free spa treatments — that you can receive by agreeing to sit through a timeshare sales presentation. These offers can include things like free parking at a resort where you’re staying, free hotel nights or deeply discounted hotel stays and resort experiences.

To determine whether it’s worth sitting through a presentation, consider the value of the perk being offered. In the case of free parking, you would probably be better off spending $50 to self-park and skip the sales pitch.

Can attending timeshare presentations offer a good deal?

Even still, there are times when sitting through a timeshare presentation can be worth your while. You can find good timeshare deals on offers for discounted stays, free nights and more online — or get offers through phone calls or targeted emails. In some cases, you might decide the savings are worth it.

Tip: Watch out for blackout dates, hidden charges and more

Depending on the hotel chain, your offer could be subject to blackout dates, high-season charges and package expiration dates. Read the terms and conditions carefully.

Worthwhile timeshare offers, by chain

Here are a few offers from major hotel chains that, depending on how you feel about sitting through a sales pitch, might be worth grabbing.

Hilton has a timeshare presentation offer that gets you a three-night stay in Orlando or Las Vegas, plus 15,000 Hilton points for $199. That’s a pretty decent deal considering that rooms normally cost $175 to $500 per night.

This offer is good at several hotels, including the Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista — an official Walt Disney World hotel. This means it gives its guests additional benefits, such as extra magic hours and access to FastPass. (Note that both services are currently on hold).

Other Hilton offers include a five-night stay at a resort in Hawaii for $649 plus taxes. The online offer includes 15,000 points. But a recent phone call to Hilton proved that sales representatives have some leeway to negotiate, in this case switching the offer to 5,000 Hilton points and a $200 Hilton gift certificate.

There are two different Hilton packages available for Hawaii — you can pick either Honolulu or the Big Island. Considering room rates here often hover around $500 per night, you can save a bundle by sitting through a timeshare presentation. For example, five nights in September 2021 at the Ocean Tower at the Hilton Waikoloa Village cost about $1,891.

That’s a big discount, not counting that $200 gift certificate and the value of those points, at a sprawling oceanfront resort featuring a saltwater lagoon.

Marriott Vacation Club has a number of specials for travelers willing to attend a timeshare presentation. In Dubai, for example, you can score two free nights at a number of hotels throughout the Middle East.

marriott timeshare deals

You can also participate in timeshare presentation in exchange for a dinner or spa voucher at select Marriott hotels in Dubai.

IHG’s vacation club is extending offers for properties in Gatlinburg, Tennessee; New Orleans; Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; and Lake Tahoe, Nevada; among others.

At the Lake Tahoe resort, you can pay $249 plus tax and get three nights in a one-bedroom villa at the Holiday Inn Club Vacations: Tahoe Ridge Resort, as well as 10,000 IHG points .

Considering three nights at that resort can cost upward of $1,000, the timeshare presentation offer may be well worth it.

Some IHG hotels cost as little as 8,000 points per night, which means you can turn those 10,000 points into another free night.

Who qualifies for timeshare presentation offers?

Not everyone will qualify for these offers. Requirements vary by chain, so check the details of your offer before committing to one of these packages.

In the case of Hilton, you must not have attended a timeshare presentation within the past year at the property where you’ll be staying or within the last six months at any other properties. You’ll also need to meet certain other criteria, though they don’t publish details about what these are.

For Marriott’s Vacation Club offer in Dubai, you must be a married couple 30 to 65 years old with a joint income of over $130,000 who has traveled to Europe at least once in the past three years.

IHG’s Holiday Inn Club, meanwhile, requires that you be older than 25 with a minimum income of $50,000.

If you’re tempted by a timeshare presentation offer

Are all timeshare presentation offers a good deal? No, especially if you’re staying somewhere cheap or they’re just handing out free parking. But if you do some research, you can score serious discounts in truly exciting locations.

How and why to book Bluegreen Vacations resorts through Choice Hotels

Katie Genter

Bluegreen Vacations, an American private vacation ownership brand owned by Hilton Grand Vacations, is best known for its timeshare properties. But you don't have to purchase a timeshare to stay at a Bluegreen Vacations resort — you can book 15 Bluegreen Vacations properties through Choice Hotels. You can even redeem Choice Privileges points for your Bluegreen Vacations stay.

These 15 Bluegreen Vacations properties are great for families and groups of friends, as they offer apartment-style multibedroom units with full kitchens and resort-style pools . So here's what you need to know about booking Bluegreen Vacations properties through Choice.

What is Bluegreen Vacations?

You can buy timeshare properties or interests through Bluegreen Vacations. Bluegreen Vacations holds timeshare presentations at many properties, which travelers can attend in exchange for discounted nights and other benefits.

Most Bluegreen Vacations resorts offer studio suites to three-bedroom condos. Each unit usually has a full kitchen, living room, dining area, balcony or porch and washer and dryer.

Bluegreen Vacations also has resorts all around the U.S . You can buy a timeshare interest in these resorts, but you can also book stays at them through Choice Hotels, even if you have no interest in buying a timeshare or attending a presentation.

How to book Bluegreen Vacations through Choice

Booking a Bluegreen Vacations property through Choice Hotels is similar to booking a hotel. You start on the standard search page and search for a stay in one of the destinations with a Bluegreen Vacations property. Alternatively, you can start on the specific property's Choice Hotels landing page.

I expect most travelers who want to book a Bluegreen Vacations property through Choice will have a specific property in mind. I recommend starting on that property's landing page (you can click through to each property from the list of Bluegreen Vacations properties on the Choice Hotels webpage if you'd like).

Ideally, you'd be able to click through the calendar for a specific property to see which dates are available for booking with cash or points. But I've found these calendars often show no availability even when availability exists. Instead, check all the dates you might be interested in booking.

Unfortunately, you can only redeem Choice points for stays within the next 100 days and book paid rates for stays within the next 50 weeks. As such, availability may be difficult to find at some properties on some dates.

Many Bluegreen Vacations properties also have unpublished minimum stay requirements when you book through Choice Hotels, so try searching for stays of different lengths if your travel plans are flexible. Based on my searches, many properties require you to stay for at least two nights.

Once you find a Bluegreen Vacations property you want to book that has availability through Choice Hotels, check the room types you can book with points. You may find multibedroom units that can sleep a large family (or a group of friends) for the same points cost as a studio suite or one-bedroom unit.

It's also worth checking paid rates, which are reasonable for some properties on some dates. Consider the following two-night stay at the Bluegreen Vacations Fountains, Ascend Resort Collection.

You could redeem 30,000 points per night for either room type. But you could pay $357 total for a two-bedroom unit with two single beds and one queen bed or $374 for a two-bedroom unit with a king bed and two double beds, giving you a redemption rate of 0.59 to 0.62 cents per point. TPG's July 2024 valuations peg the value of Choice points at 0.6 cents per point, so you might want to book a paid stay if you don't have many Choice points and can typically redeem Choice points at a higher rate.

As of publishing, award rates are the same for each Bluegreen Vacations property you can book through Choice Hotels. Specifically, Sunday through Thursday nights cost 25,000 points, and Friday and Saturday nights cost 30,000 points through Sept. 15. Then, from Sept. 16 to Nov. 30, all nights cost 20,000 points per room. Choice hasn't announced award rates for stays from Dec. 1 onward yet.

You can earn Choice points through credit cards such as the Choice Privileges® Mastercard® ($0 annual fee; see rates and fees ) or Choice Privileges® Select Mastercard® ($95 annual fee, see rates and fees ). You can also buy Choice points or transfer points from American Express Membership Rewards, Capital One miles, Citi ThankYou points and Wells Fargo Rewards.

But — especially if you don't need a multibedroom unit and aren't traveling on peak dates — you might come out ahead by booking a paid rate and earning Choice points on your Bluegreen Vacations stay. Be sure to enroll in any current Choice Privileges promotions before your stay to maximize your earnings.

Bottom line

Even if you aren't interested in purchasing a Bluegreen Vacations timeshare, you might enjoy staying at one of its resorts. Luckily, Choice Hotels' partnership with Bluegreen Vacations lets its members book stays through Choice Hotels, including with Choice points.

You won't need to attend a timeshare presentation when you redeem Choice points or book a standard rate through Choice Hotels. But you'll occasionally see promotions offering discounted rates that do require attendance at a timeshare presentation — so be sure to read the fine print on the rate you're booking if you don't want to spend part of your vacation in a timeshare presentation.
