Contoh soal 1.

Positive Sentences – Part 1 Choose the correct present progressive form.

• She (play) the piano. She is playing the piano.

Positive Sentences – Part 2 Put the verbs into present progressive.

Exceptions Choose the correct form. Note that there are exceptions in spelling when adding ‘ing.’

Present continuous tense adalah pola kalimat bahasa Inggris yang digunakan untuk menyatakan atau mengungkapkan kegiatan yang sekarang ini sedang berlangsung (dalam proses). Agar pengetahuan keterangan waktu 16 tenses semakin bertambah, materi ini akan membahas contoh soal present continuous tense dan jawabannya.

Rumus present continuous tense :

• Kalimat positif present continuous tense Subject + to be + kata kerja/verb + ing Contoh: The boys are talking about their favorite band at present.
• Kalimat negatif present continuous tense Subject + to be + not + kata kerja/verb + ing Contoh: The boys are not talking about their favorite band at present.
• Kalimat interogatif present continuous tense To be + subject + kata kerja/verb + ing Contoh: Are the boys talking about their favorite band at present?

Fungsi Present Continuous Tense

Keterangan waktu ( adverb of time ) yang sering digunakan dalam contoh kalimat present continouos tense antara lain now, right now, at present, at the moment, today. Present continuous tense memiliki beberapa fungsi, yaitu:

• Digunakan untuk mengungkapkan suatu kebiasaan yang sekarang masih berlangsung. Contoh: Mr. Leo is teaching Japanese this semester.
• Digunakan untuk menyatakan suatu perbuatan yang sedang terjadi pada saat sekarang, tetapi tidak berarti sedang terjadi pada saat kita berbicara. Contoh: What are they doing right now? They are reading a book right now.
• Digunakan untuk memberitahukan dan menanyakan apa yang sedang berlangsung/terjadi/dilakukan oleh seseorang pada saat kita berbicara sekarang ini. Contoh: Is Dewi writing a letter at the moment? Yes, she is. / No, she isn’t.

Pengertian present continuous tense 

Present continuous tense merupakan bentuk kalimat yang menyatakan suatu kegiatan atau aksi yang sedang berlangsung atau in progress pada waktu sekarang (present) atau rencana dimasa depan (future). Tense ini menunjukkan suatu kejadian sedang dilakukan atau sedang terjadi pada saat ini.

Tense ini dibentuk dengan auxiliary verb "be" is/am/are dan present participle (-ing). Is digunakan pada singular subject kecuali i dan you, are pada you dan plural subject, sementara am pada i.

Fungsi kalimat present continuous tense 

Keterangan waktu yang sering digunakan dalam contoh kalimat present continuous tense antara lain now, right now, at present, at the moment, today. Fungsi present continuous tense antara lain :

Contoh kalimat : I'm living with my sister at the moment.

- Present continuous tense untuk membicarakan suatu rencana atau perpindahan ke suatu tempat/kondisi

Contoh kalimat : The buses are arriving in an hour.

- Present continuous tense untuk mengungkapkan kejengkelan atas aksi yang terjadi berulang kali

Contoh kalimat : Why is the wild dog always barking at me?

Tenses dalam bahasa Inggris disebut juga bentuk waktu. Setiap tenses mempunyai aturan dan pemakaian masing- masing. Penggunaan bentuk tenses sesuai dengan kalimat akan menunjukkan bentuk waktu dari kalimat tersebut. 

Nah, Pada pembahasan berikut ini, saya akan membahas mengenai penggunaan salah satu Tenses yaitu  bentuk Present Continuous Tense.   Present Continuous Tense   mempunyai bentuk/ pattern sebagai berikut;
