I recently worked closely with a 24-year-old client — let’s call him Martin — who was tapped to deliver a five-minute presentation at his company’s annual town hall meeting. Martin had never given a public speech in his professional life, but his accomplishments impressed his supervisors, and they wanted Martin to share his success with the rest of the organization.

No matter if you are planning to work with PowerPoint , Keynote, or Google slides .. you are probably wondering how long it will take you to make a presentation.
Making a simple presentation with a few slides and a great message takes anything from 20 – 60 hours. This includes crafting content, designing slides, and preparing. An actual time depends on your topic, the complexity of your slides, and the message that you want to get across.
While this is a very broad estimate, we need to have a much closer look at the whole process.
Crafting content for one slide usually takes about 10 minutes (in some cases it takes hours).
Designing each slide usually takes me around 40 minutes on average . And I am working as a presentation designer! It’ll be probably a bit more for other people. Of course, there are situations when designing a slide takes me literally 15 minutes once branding is established and there’s little content.
So if we include preparation and brainstorming and messaging.. we can estimate that one slide usually takes about 60 minutes to produce (10 minutes for copy + 40 minutes for design).
So how does this stack up for bigger presentations? Let’s have a look at this list:

Please, take these with a grain of salt. Some presentations are much easier than others. For ex. I was once designing a presentation for the sales team . In their presentation, they were using a lot of graphs so it took me around 90 minutes to take care of one slide.
On the other hand, the presentation for the agency was much simpler and it took me around 30 minutes per slide.
It takes around 11 hours to make a 10 slide presentation. That includes content creation, brainstorming, and design of each slide. Time will vary depending on the industry and complexity of the slides. Some slides take longer than the others, so this is an only the average estimate.
For a 30 slide presentation, it is recommended to prepare around 30-35 hours. This time is usually needed for content creation and design of the slides. But it really depends on the industry and topic.
Do not forget to add a few more hours on top for preparation and brainstorming.

We learned a lot about Tesla Semi thanks to a new presentation from the head of the electric truck program at Tesla, including the fact that Tesla ran one of the trucks 250,000 miles (400,000 km) already.
Tesla Semi has already been “in production” for almost 2 years, but the production has been very limited and one could even argue that it was a “pilot” run until Tesla brings the vehicle to volume production at its new facility under construction in Nevada .
The automaker is believed to have built a fleet of about 100 Tesla Semi trucks and it is mostly using them internally and with its customer-partner PepsiCo.
Now, Dan Priestley, the head of the Tesla Semi program, has given a presentation at the IAA conference in Germany today to give an update on how the program is going.
A video of the presentation hasn’t surfaced yet, but people attending the event have released images of the slides and some of the highlights of the statistics revealed by Priestley:
For example, we learn that the Tesla Semi fleet has already traveled 7.5 million miles and that a single truck has traveled 250,000 miles (400,000 km) over the last 1.5 years.
Thanks to the resurgence of consumer electric vehicles, we already know that electric powertrains could deliver better performance in commercial trucks, but many still doubt that the batteries will have the energy capacity and longevity to make commercial electric trucking viable.
This data should help convince more people.
With the capacity to travel 1,700 km (1,000 miles) in a single day with virtually the same capacity of a diesel truck, Tesla is making the argument that a Tesla Semi can replace a diesel class 8 truck one-for-one.
Priestley also claimed that Tesla is seeing 95% uptime with the trucks, which is important as downtime means losing money for trucking companies.
The arguably most important information to come out of the presentation is that the current Tesla Semi fleet is proving an efficiency of 100 kWh to travel 100 km (62 miles):
At 1.6 kWh per mile, this is a little better than the 1.7 kWh per mile that Tesla previously predicted.
The engineer said that Tesla plans to deliver the electric trucks to more customers this year, but volume production is going to come with the new factory next year.
The goal is to reach an annualized production capacity of 50,000 trucks in 2026.
This is awesome. Again, Tesla Semi is the program I am most excited about at Tesla right now. Based on its history of delivering efficient electric vehicles in volume profitably, I think Tesla is the one to make commercial electric trucks happen at scale.
There are already many competitors out there, but none are currently talking about 50,000 units per year, which would make a real impact on the industry, by 2026.
It's not a question of if it is more efficient or not, it is. Electric vehicles are. But the real question is from an economic standpoint, does it make sense from a total trade off of payload? Diesel is expensive, but in terms of payload, it ain't that expensive.
If these numbers are accurate, I think it could actually work,
Now, the bigger problem to solve is going to be the infrastructure as we are going to adapt truck stops to support megawatt charging at scale. It’s not an easy problem, but it is solvable and worth doing to decarbonize commercial transportation.

It might be tempting to order a hard drink when the bar cart strolls your way, particularly if you want to take the edge off as a nervous flier or kick off your vacation with a bit of bubbly. As nice as the first sip or two might feel in the moment, it’s likely to do more harm than good by the time you land.
“ Alcohol can dehydrate you and make you feel groggy and tired after the flight,” says Janowicz. “Due to the pressure changes in the cabin, a person will get intoxicated faster drinking in-flight than on the ground.” In other words, chances are even a single Bloody Mary or glass of wine will make you feel hungover once you’re back on land.

I take my caffeinating seriously, and it truly pains me to tell anyone to lay off the java—even more so if you’re out of sorts from an early wake-up or want to hack your biological clock to adapt more quickly to your destination’s time zone. However, Janowicz warns that coffee is one of the top foods and drinks to avoid in-flight.
“While it may be nice for those early morning flights, the caffeine in coffee will dehydrate you in an already dehydrating cabin environment,” he warns. Plus, food safety experts and flight crews alike are privy to a dirty little secret: The tank water used for airplane coffee (and tea) isn’t the cleanest, to say the least—so you’ll be doing yourself a favor in several ways by passing on a brew.
You’re better off limiting sugary sodas for the sake of your health as a general rule. But other carbonated drinks, including diet soda and seltzer, also nail a spot on Janowicz’s no-fly list. “The carbonation can cause gas and bloating, especially if drinking while the plane is climbing or descending with the pressure changes that occur in the cabin,” he warns.
Those who already struggle with digestive distress may want to take extra care to limit these bubbly bevs on the day of travel. However, every flier would be all the wiser to sip on plain bottled H2O before, during, and after the flight—even if that warrants a few extra trips to the tight airplane lavatory.
I love spicy foods just about as much as I love coffee, going as far to pack both cold brew packets and a bottle or two of hot sauce when I travel. But according to Janowicz, I’m better off keeping both in my checked luggage instead of having them accessible in my carry-on. “Generally our menus onboard are very mild, but I would not pack any snacks that might have spice involved as it may cause stomach discomfort in-flight,” he shares. It’s also smart to avoid a spicy meal before takeoff—whether at home or at an airport restaurant—if you want to reduce the risk of experiencing fiery digestion en route.
Fried foods are another category you’ll want to steer clear of on the day of flying (as well as limit in your daily diet for the sake of your heart health 1 , mental health 2 , and overall well-being). “Eating something fried before or during a flight usually has higher sodium involved, which dehydrates the body and can also cause symptoms like gas and bloating,” Janowicz explains.
Instead, aim to pack and fill up on nutritious fare that’s as fresh as possible, and enjoy your packaged in-flight freebies in moderation. Janowicz says Delta offers lightly salted almonds, which offer a decent amount of plant protein, healthy fats, and fiber—plus a majorly satisfying crunch .
