APRCET 2024  Notification : Andhra Pradesh Council for Higher Education has announced the APRCET 2023-24 exam notification. Students interested in applying for the PhD entrance exam can visit the official website until March 19, 2024, to complete the registration and application process.

Visakhapatnam: Admission notification released for PhD programmes in Andhra University

Andhra University Directorate of Admissions on Saturday invited applications for admissions into PhD programmes in Arts, Science, Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences and Law Colleges in the AU and its affiliated colleges.

The candidates, who are qualified for fellowship/scholarship in the UGC-NET/ UGC-CSIR-NET / GATE / CEED, and similar national level tests for the year 2023-24, are eligible to apply.

The last date for receipt of filled-in application is July 7. The counselling will be held on July 10.

AP RCET 2024 | AP RCET Application Form ( Started ), Exam Date: Andhra Pradesh Research Common Entrance Test 2024 will be conducted to provide admissions for Ph.D. Programs (Both Full-time and Part-time) offered by various Universities, Research Centres, and Affiliated Colleges in the state of Andhra Pradesh for the year 2024. Detailed information regarding APRCET 2024 Eligibility, Fee-related instructions, and procedure for Online Submission of Applications are available in the below sections. On behalf of the APSCHE, the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education invites applications from eligible candidates for the Andhra Pradesh Research Common Entrance Test (AP RCET) 2024. Candidates are advised to check the APRCET 2024 Syllabus, Pattern, and Exam Date details in the below sections.

AP RCET 2024 Eligibility

Ph.D. can be pursued by candidates possessing the minimum qualifications as specified below either on a Full-Time (FT)/ Part-Time (PT) basis in the Faculties of Science, Arts, Humanities, Social Science, Fine Arts, Education, Physical Education, Commerce, and Management Studies, Engineering and Technology, Architecture & Planning, Law and Pharmaceutical Sciences, etc., Admissions into Ph. D. program will be made within the framework of reservation rules in force prescribed by the Government of Andhra Pradesh from time to time. The details of faculty/ specialization-wise eligibility criteria will be notified in detail along with the APRCET notification.

Full-Time (FT)

(a) Candidates for admission to the Ph.D. program shall have a Master’s Degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-Point scale (or an equivalent grade on a point scale wherever grading system is followed) or an equivalent degree from a foreign educational established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other stator in that country to assess, accredit or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions.

(b) A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50% or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/BC (non-creamy layer)/ Differently abled and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the University Grants Commission from time to time, or for those who had obtained their Master’s degree. The eligibility marks of 55% (or an equivalent grade on a point scale where the grading system is followed) and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible based only on the qualifying marks without including the grave mark procedures.

Part-time (PT)

Candidates satisfying the eligibility conditions noted above can be admitted as Part-Time candidates through an entrance test, as per the following order of priority. Admission into the Part-Time category will be made based on service seniority in the respective categories.

• Regular Faculty working in the University or at the P.G. Centers.
• (a) Faculty working in Post Graduate and Professional colleges having completed at least two years of service. This provision does not apply to Faculty teaching Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Humanities in professional colleges. OR
• (b) Faculty/ Librarians/Assistant Librarians working in affiliated degree / PG colleges and Faculty teaching Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Humanities in professional colleges having completed at least two years of service. OR
• (c) Faculty working in Polytechnic/ Government or private aided junior Colleges/Schools having completed at least four years of service.

Candidates satisfying the following requirements shall be eligible to appear for APRCET:

• A. Candidate should be of Indian Nationality or persons of Indian Origin (PIO)/ Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders.
• B. Candidates should belong to the State of Andhra Pradesh. The candidate should satisfy local/ Non-local status requirements laid down in the Andhra Pradesh Educational Institutions (Regulations of Admission) Order, 1974 as subsequently amended.
• C. Ph.D. can be pursued by candidates possessing the minimum qualifications as specified below either on a Full-Time (FT) or Part-Time (PT) basis in the faculties of Sciences, Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, Fine Arts, Education, Physical Education, Commerce, and Management studies, Engineering & Technology, Architecture & Planning, Law, Pharmaceutical Sciences, etc., Admissions into Ph.D. programs will be made within the framework of reservation rules in force prescribed by the Government of Andhra Pradesh from time to time.
• D. Candidates for admission into Ph.D. programs shall have a Master’s degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body with at least 55% marks in the aggregate or its equivalent grade “B’ in the UGC-7 point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale where grading system is followed) or an equivalent degree from a foreign educational institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any statutory in that country to assess, accredit or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions.
• E. A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50% or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ ST/ BC/ PWD and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the University Grants Commission from time to time, or for those who had obtained their Master’s degree. The eligibility marks of 55% (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever the grading system is followed) and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible based only on the qualifying marks without including the grace marks procedures.
• F. Ph.D. discipline and eligibility in respect of qualifying P.G. Degree shall be notified by The APRCET Convener.

APRCET 2024 Application Fee

The candidate can apply for at most two subjects only in the APRCET-2024. The application fee per subject per candidate is Rs. 1500/- for OC, Rs.1300/- for BC, and Rs. 1000/- for SC /ST/ PWD. No correction in the subject(s) will be permitted after applying.

AP RCET 2024 Important Link

How To Apply For APRCET 2024?

• Applications should be submitted online only.
• For online submission, visit the website cets.apsche.ap.gov.in/rcet.
• The candidate has to pay Rs. 1500/- for OC, Rs. 1300/- for BC, and Rs. 1000/- for SC/ ST/ PWD per subject.
• After filling out the online Application form with all the required details, verify all the details carefully and press the ‘Submit’ button.
• After submitting the online application form, take the printout of the filled-in ‘Online Application Form.
• Use the application number printed on the online application form for all future correspondences.

AP RCET 2024 Exam Pattern

AP RCET-2024 is a computer-based test. The test shall be in multiple choice questions. Each question carries one mark. There shall not be any negative marks. The test will be conducted for two categories of candidates.

• Category-I : Candidates with PG in respective subject and qualified in UGCNET(Including JRF)/ UGC-CSIR-NET(Including JRF)/ SLET/ GATE (with valid score)/ GPAT (with valid score)/ and FDP/ Teacher Fellowship holders or who have passed M.Phil Programme. Category-I candidates have to write only Section-A (Research Methodology for 70 marks) of APRCET-2024.
• Category II: Candidates have to write Section A (Research Methodology for 70 marks) and Section B (respective subject for 70 Marks) of the APRCET-2024. To qualify for an interview, candidates belonging to Category-1 and Category-II should have to secure a minimum of 50% marks for OC candidates and 45% marks for BC/ SC/ ST/ PWD in APRCET-2024. After qualifying in APRCET-2024 for an interview, the candidate has to attend an interview for (i) Category –I: 30 marks and (ii) Category II: 60 marks.

As per UGC, only 6% of candidates who have cleared the APSET 2023 exam shall be declared eligible to became Assistant Professor in colleges or universities across the state. • Candidates can visit the official website for filling APSET 2023 form online. It is advised to follow the below instructions while filling up the application form.
• The Applicants must go through the eligibility criteria & requirements before going through the registration process.
• Click on the Register Link on the APSET website to start the registration process.
• Candidates can register by providing the basic information.
• Registered Candidates will receive an email notification to their registered email id with their application number, password and the link to complete the application form.
• Once Candidates got registered, Log In using the login credentials.
• Fill in the remaining details i.e, Personal details, Education Qualifications, Choice of Examination centre and hit "Submit".
• A summary along with the complete amount payable will be presented. Candidates will be redirected to the payment gateway page by clicking on the "Make Payment" link
• Make Fee Payment via Net Banking/Debit card/Credit card.
• On successful completion of the form and payment, the candidate can download the online application form.
• All future communications will be done only to the registered email ID.

APSET 2023 Eligibility Criteria

Before Applying for the APSET 2023, the candidates must go through all the APSET 2023 eligibility required for the application.

• There are no upper age limits for the applicants.

Educational Qualification:

The list of required qualifications is mentioned hereby:

• Candidates should  have  completed  their Master's   degree  with  at  least   55% marks  without rounding off .
• If Candidates belong to the category Backward Classes/ Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Persons with Disability (PWD), Candidates should have marks of at least 50% .
• If Candidates still have to finish their Master's degree, candidates can also appear in APSET 2023. Candidates should, however, finish their Master with the required marks within two years of the date of the APSET result.
• PhD degree holders who have finished PG by 19 September 1991 are eligible for 5% relaxation. 
• Candidates belonging to the transgender category would be eligible to draw the same relaxation in fee, age and qualifying criteria for SET (i.e. Assistant Professor) as are available to SC/ST/PwD categories. The subject wise cut-offs for this category should be the lowest among those for SC/ST/PwD/BC categories in the corresponding subject. 

APSET 2023 Admit Card

APSET 2023 Admit Card has been released on the official website of the conducting body. Candidates can check the details about APSET Hall Ticket given below:

• Admit card has released by the official authority through online mode only.
• To download the admit card, candidates have to log in with the application number, password and security key.
• After downloading, a candidate must take a printout of the same for carrying it to the examination centre.
• The seat will be randomly allotted to the candidate on completing the procedure.
• Candidates found carrying any textual material, printed or written, bits of papers or any other material except those mentioned above inside the examination Hall will be debarred from appearing in the examination.
• Mobile Phones, Bluetooth devices, Calculators, Slide Rules, Log Tables, Electronic Watches with the facilities of the Calculator are not allowed in the Examination Hall. Possession of such items during the Examinations may lead to cancellation of candidature.
• No candidate, without the special permission of the Centre-in-Charge, will leave his/her seat or Examination Hall until the duration of the examination is over.

The Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) has released the online application form for the Research Common Entrance Test (RCET) at its official website, sche.ap.gov.in.

Steps to apply for APRCET 2024

Andhra Pradesh SCHE has enabled the AP Research Common Entrance Test link on its web portal, https://sche.ap.gov.in/RCET/.

Candidates who want register for the APRCET Exam can check details and submit online application form at the official web portal using login details. Fallow the given simple steps to submit the application form.

• Candidates need to visit the Official Website of APSCHE, sche.ap.gov.in.
• Once you reach the SCHE AP website, click on the APRCET (Research Common Entrance Test) link on this home page, APRCET Official web page will appear in your device.
• On the AP RCET website, click on the application Link. Then, Online application form web page will appear in your device.
• On the online application form, enter the required details in fields and click on the submit button.
• After filled in application form, candidates can pay the application fee with proper payment method.
• After completion of payment, candidates can download the application form. Take a print it and preserve it for future reference.

AP RCET Application fee: Candidates will have to pay an application fee of Rs 1,300 while for reserved category candidates the fee is Rs 900.

AP RCET Eligibility criteria:

• Candidates must possess a master’s degree with at least 55 per cent marks.
• For reserved category candidates, the minimum marks required are 50 per cent.
• The state-level exam is conducted by Andhra University, Vishakhapatnam on behalf of APSCHE.
• Those who clear the exam will be able to take admission in PhD and MPhil programmes across the state.

AP RCET – AP Research Entrance test:

On behalf of the A.U, Directorate of Admissions, Andhra University, Visakhapatnam invites applications from eligible candidates for admission through Andhra University Research Common Entrance Test.

APRCET for admission into M. Phil. (Full-time /Part-time) / Ph.D. program (Full-Time / Part-Time) in the subject areas indicated in Annexure-I, for the year offered in campus colleges, P.G centers, and recognized research centers in affiliated colleges.

Candidates are advised to go through the Information Brochure carefully and apply for admission under the appropriate category of reservation by ticking in the relevant box in the application form.

Requests for inclusion or change of reservation category once claimed will not be entertained under any circumstances.

The applications will be processed as per the information provided by the candidate at the time of submitting the application and the admission will be subject to the validity of the information provided and vacancy position in that category.

PhD Entrance Exam:

Candidates having PG degree in Science, Arts, Law, Pharmacy and Engineering Courses and seeking admission into M.Phil. or Ph.D. programs must appear for the ENTRANCE TEST (APRCET) conducted by the Directorate of Admissions.

Eligible candidates seeking admission into Part-Time programmes under Executive category are exempted from appearing of APRCET.

The P.G. Degrees of all U.G.C. recognized Universities in India will be treated as equivalent to P.G. Degrees of Andhra University. However, PG Degrees obtained through distance mode from Universities recognized by DEC only be recognized.

Candidates who have already appeared or appeared for the final semester or final year examinations of the qualifying degree in May / June can also apply for APRCET.

But such candidates shall be considered for admission only if they obtain PG degree by the time of admission. Allowing a candidate for an entrance test or counseling does not guarantee any right of admission into the course of study.

Candidates who wish to apply for M.Phil / Ph.D. under the extramural category / Project fellows / Faculty Development Programme / CSIR-UGC-NET fellowship holders / Inspire Fellowship / Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship to have to apply in the months of December/ June every year.

Admissions shall be given to such candidates in January / July. A separate notification shall be given for such candidates and it will be hosted on the website.

 Admission is subject to availability of seats in a department. The tentative number of seats available for each department and roaster point is are given in Annexure-II.

However, the seat may be converted to other categories as per rule of reservation of A.P. Govt. if the candidate is not available in that category.

The university reserves the right to fill or not to fill the seats announced for any subject/programme without assigning any reasons.

Candidates from outside the state of Andhra Pradesh seeking M.Phil./PhD admissions will be considered only after the list of eligible candidates from within (Local / Non-local) the state is exhausted.

M.Phil. and PhD admissions for candidates from foreign countries will be given as extra seats in consultation with Director, International Relations, A.U and approval of DRC of respective departments. A separate fee structure is applicable to such foreign students.

Payments made towards registration fee / Late fee / Processing fee / Course fee are non-refundable. Candidates admitted into M.Phil./Ph.D. programme by furnishing false information are liable for prosecution and cancellation of seats without any notice.

The decision of the University is final. The provision of hostel accommodation is subject to the availability of rooms for full-time scholars.

No Research Scholarships will be awarded by the University. However, eligible candidates belonging to SC, ST, BC, Minority and PH categories may apply for financial assistance to Social Welfare Departments, Government of Andhra Pradesh.

All disputes whether regular or consumer courts pertaining to APRCET shall be within the court’s jurisdiction of Visakhapatnam only.

The number of seats available in each department and in each program and reservation roaster point is given on the website: www.audoa.in. However, if the candidates in that roaster point are not available then the conversion is done as per A.P. Govt., reservation rules.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: Research Programmes for the award of M. Phil. or PhD degrees can be pursued in the Faculties of Arts, Law, Science, Engineering and Pharmaceutical Sciences by candidates possessing minimum qualifications prescribed in the brochure.

FULL-TIME M. Phil. / Ph. D. Programme: Post-graduate degree holders with at least 55% of marks (50% in the case of SC/ST Candidates) or equivalent CGPA in the concerned subject or in an allied subject or any other PG Degree recognised by the University as equivalent thereto prescribed in eligibility criteria can apply for full-time M. Phil. / PhD degree. They must qualify in APRCET.

PART-TIME M. Phil / Ph. D. Programme: In-Service candidates satisfying the above eligibility conditions can apply for part-time. Admission into part-time programmes will be made by preparing merit order by considering rank and service weightage.

Entrance test:

• Common Entrance test (APRCET) for admission into M. Phil & Ph.D. programs in various Science, Arts, Law, Pharmacy and Engineering Basic Sciences and humanities in Engineering will be conducted by the Directorate of Admissions in VISAKHAPATNAM only.
• Test codes, names of the departments, M.Phil / Ph.D. programs offered and the respective eligibility criteria are given in Annexure – I of the APRCET Information Brochure.
• APRCET for each subject/department consists of one paper with multiple choice objective type questions including oral examination.
• This Paper contains 20 questions in Research Methodology with 20 marks, 70 questions in concerned subject with 70 marks
• After the written examination there is an oral examination for 10 marks will be conducted in Departments by the concerned DRC.
• The minimum qualifying marks in APRCET is 25 marks and no minimum marks for SC/ST/PHC category students.
• Based on the number of seats available and the number of applications received, the University reserves the right to conduct or not to conduct the test.
• All candidates qualified in the Entrance Test will be awarded APRCET test-wise Rank as per marks secured in the test and Interview.
• In case of a tie between candidates securing the same marks the order of merit will be decided on the basis of marks obtained in Part-II of the Test. In case of a further tie, the marks obtained by the candidate in Part-I shall be taken into account. If the tie continues the date of birth of the candidate shall be taken into account, with priority to the older candidate.

• There is no provision for revaluation or personal verification of the answer sheet.

PhD Admission 2024 is based on entrance exams like UGC/CSIR NET, GATE, etc. NTA conducts the NET to offer PhD Admission 2024 in top universities such as JNU, DU, IITs, etc. UGC/CSIR NET is conducted in 2 sessions, June and December, to offer PhD Admission in 2024. DU, JNU, BHU, and all other national universities accept UGC NET scores for admission to the PhD Course. UGC has announced that PhD Admissions will be based on the UGC/CSIR National Eligibility Test (NET) scores from 2024 – 2025 . 

To be eligible for PhD Admission 2024 in  Top PhD Colleges , you must have scored a minimum of 50% aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA score in your postgraduate degree, along with a valid cut-off score in an entrance exam. PhD Entrance Exams 2024

Hostel Accommodation

For pg/ph.d full time students only.

There is a severe hostel crunch in the campus due to which it is NOT possible to provide hostel accommodation to postgraduate (PG) students (including PhD).

However, the Institute strives to provide a hostel seat (normally on sharing basis only) on priority, if available, to admitted female students, students with special needs (SwD - Students with Disabilities, formally admitted as PwD) and foreign nationals.

Hence, it is to be noted that the offer of admission at IIT Delhi does not guarantee on-campus accommodation.

The best support, pertaining to accommodation, is in form of providing the contact information of some off-campus accommodation that may be available within walking distance of the campus.

Please note that these off-campus accommodations, if available, operate independent of IIT Delhi.

Further, while staying off-campus, there are provisions for making one of our on-campus messes available to students for food on monthly subscription basis.

Two female boxers meet Paris Olympics rules after gender test issue at world championships, IOC says

PARIS (AP) — Two female boxers at the Paris Olympics who were disqualified at the 2023 world championships after being judged to have failed gender eligibility tests have complied with all rules to fight at the games, the IOC said Monday.

Lin Yu-ting of Taiwan and Imane Khelif of Algeria are competing at their second Summer Games. Both finished outside the medals at the Tokyo Olympics held in 2021.

“All athletes participating in the boxing tournament of the Olympic Games Paris 2024 comply with the competition’s eligibility and entry regulations, as well as all applicable medical regulations,” the International Olympic Committee said in a statement.

The 28-year-old Lin is a two-time worlds gold medalist and the 25-year-old Khelif won a silver at the 2022 tournament.

Both were removed from their competitions in New Delhi last year at the world championships, run by the International Boxing Association which has been banished from Olympic boxing since before the Tokyo Games.

The different status of Lin and Khelif at the Olympics and worlds is fallout from the years-long dispute between the IOC and the Russian-led IBA over alleged failures of governance and integrity, plus reliance on funding from state energy firm Gazprom.

The IOC has appointed officials to run boxing at two straight Summer Games and acknowledged Monday the tournament rules for Paris are “descended from” those in place eight years ago at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics.

Boxing officials picked to run Paris qualifying and finals tournaments tried “to restrict amendments to minimize the impact on athletes’ preparation and guaranteeing consistency between Olympic Games,” the IOC said.

The IOC-run database of about 10,700 athletes competing in Paris detailed both boxers’ experiences at the 2023 worlds.

Khelif was disqualified “just hours before her gold medal showdown” against a Chinese opponent “after her elevated levels of testosterone failed to meet the eligibility criteria.”

Lin “was stripped of her bronze medal (by the IBA) after failing to meet eligibility requirements based on the results of a biochemical test,” the IOC database stated.

On Thursday, Khelif will fight Italy’s Angela Carini in the 66-kilogram category at the North Paris Arena. Lin, who got a first-round bye as the top seed in the 57-kilogram category, will have her opening bout Friday in the round of 16.

Medal bouts in boxing at Paris will be staged at the Roland Garros tennis venue.

PhD positions: Call for applications in 2024

The Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research (MPS) in Göttingen conducts fundamental research in the field of solar system physics. With its approximately 300 staff members, it is one of the leading institutes in the field of solar physics and planetary research. In particular, the institute is involved in numerous international space missions. The International Max Planck Research School for Solar System Science at the University of Göttingen and TU Braunschweig ("Solar System School") offers a research-oriented doctoral programme in Solar system science. In the context of this IMPRS, the MPS offers PhD projects in three main areas:  ''Sun and Heliosphere'', ''Solar and Stellar Interiors'', and ''Planetary Science''. Solar System School students collaborate with leading scientists in these fields and graduates are awarded a doctoral degree from the University of Göttingen or the TU Braunschweig.

The MPS invites applications for PhD Positions in Solar System Science

The Solar System School is open to students from all countries and offers an international three-year PhD program in an exceptional research environment with state-of-the-art facilities on the Göttingen Campus. Successful applicants will be offered a 3,5-year doctoral support contract with remuneration dependent on TVöD (75% E13) according to the German public salary scale, as well as postdoc wrap-up funding.

The language of the structured graduate program is English, with complimentary German language courses offered (optional). The program includes an inspiring curriculum of scientific lectures and seminars as well as advanced training workshops and provides relocation costs and travel funds to attend international conferences.

Applicants to the Solar System School should have a keen interest in Solar system science and a record of academic excellence. They must have, or must be about to obtain, an M.Sc. degree or equivalent in physics, chemistry, geosciences or a related field, including a written Masters thesis, and must document a good command of the English language.

Review of applications will begin on 1 October 2024

Review of applications for a starting date of October 2025 will begin on 1 October 2024 , but other starting times are also negotiable. The positions are awarded on a competitive basis.

How to apply

Applicants must submit the following documents through the online application portal between 1 August and 1 October 2024:

• an application form to be filled online, including two short texts describing the applicant's scientific interests and their motivation to apply for PhD projects in the Solar System School , along with the applicant's choice of up to three PhD projects;
• a curriculum vitae in pdf format;
• degree certificates and full transcripts of all academic records: i.e. scanned copies of B.Sc. and M.Sc. degree certificates (or equivalent), and lists of all courses with credits and grades issued by the respective school or university, with English or German translations;
• certificate to prove proficiency in the English language, for candidates whose most recent academic education has not been in English or German for at least two years (e.g. transcript of TOEFL / IELTS scores or equivalent);
• contact details for two or three academic referees who have been contacted by the applicant and who have agreed to write a letter of recommendation on behalf of the applicant. The referees will subsequently be contacted by the School and will be asked to submit their letters through the online portal no later than 10 October 2024 .

It is highly recommended to also submit

• GRE Physics or GRE Chemistry test scores or equivalent for candidates who have obtained their Master's degree at a university outside of the European ECTS area.
